  • When it comes to shaving your mileage may vary comes up quite often. In terms of the Rockwell 6C and Rockwell 6S people have almost a full on agreement that both of these safety razors are top notch.

Rockwell as a safety razor business has some of the best at some of the most affordable prices. Stainless steel is an option and so is the zinc chrome alloy blah blah blah. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Do you have both? Which do you prefer or which do you have?

    • @randyshaves7956
      @randyshaves7956 2 года назад +4

I don't have both, but I have had both. I sold my 6s after I bought the 6c because I do think the 6c glides better on the face than the 6s. I have just the regular chrome 6c and it is very shiny and very smooth and slick when wet. As far as shave quality I could not tell any difference at all, it just all boiled down to the glide for me. For the difference in price the choice for me is clear and it is the 6c. As you said either one will outlast me anyway.

I lean just slightly towards the 6C. I prefer the look of the chrome over the bead blasted finish of the 6S. Plus it feels just a bit “ slicker” to me.
I really wish Rockwell would offer a polished 6S. I wouldn’t think it would be too much of a cost increase? RazoRock stainless razors are polished, and are quite affordable.

Great comparison, man! Glad you got to try the 6C! I have both and have used both for a while. I have a blue 6S, which is pretty cool, but yeah overall I enjoy them both equally. I will say though, for me, the 6C has smoother action than the 6S with the chrome plating, and I get a better feel and glide overall for an every day, low hair growth shave. And I do cold water shaves normally and the cooling chrome of the 6C against my face while shaving is amazing and refreshing. But sometimes, if my hair is scruffy and more grown out, the grip of the finish on the 6S against my face seems to clean up better and I get more off of my face at one time. So it's just different feels for me based on my hair growth and what I want for my shave. Also, I've been using the Razorock Game Changer for the past month or so (as a test) and I'm loving this one too, so far, but I do get slightly nicked more on shaves. (I have been using the .68 OC -- Open Comb -- and it is very efficient, maybe a bit too efficient for me as a daily shaver. I just got the .68-P -- Safety Bar -- plate yesterday and I am going to use it today and see how it is.) Awesome video, as always!

I almost got the 6c gunmetal instead but decided to get the SS solid material and made in USA - plus was lucky to get it on sale before the somewhat recent price increase. Also got a Russian Sampler and tried all the Rapira blades, GIllete Platinum, Gillete Perma Sharp, GIllete 7 Oclock Yellow and Green, and Voshkods. The only blades in the Sampler I didn't really like were the Astras especially the Green ones but those were the newer batched laser etched and blue ones were still inked so old stock. But yeah basically those one star reviews from Amazon is what I experienced from the Green Astras they left me the worst razor burn.

I only have the 6S and I like it. If I was starting over I would probably get the 6C and expect the same great shave I get from the 6S. That way I could more easily afford some other shave gear to go with it. Actually, I would have had the 6C as my very first DE razor. It’s perfect for exploring all kinds of different shaving styles and experiences. Also, while I was still dialing in my lather, the 6S was very forgiving and never clogged with dry lather.
So, for $132 you could have all of the following or a 6S and some blades.
    $50 for a 6C
    $15 for a Stirling soap
    $20 Shave mug
$38 Perker delux pure badger brush
$8.99 Amazon sample pack of 30 blades

I tried to like the 6C and 6S, but both of my copies had blade alignment issues with certain blades. I also got random nicks that never happed on my previous R89.. even at setting 3. + didn't like the overall head design (bulky)..
Overall the Rockwell isn't for me... I tried to like it, but I find the cost per value low... even with multiple options.
Picked up a Gamechanger .84 (which funny enough is more "aggressive" and should be close to a 6S/6C at 5-6) and never looked back. R89 is now 'too mild" for me.. I guess its the overall head design and natural angle I use.. The GC84 also helps with my irration issues from running a blade over my skin too many times..
I'll never go back to non CNC'd Stainless razors.. The 6S isn't my cup of tea being cast.. I think Italian barber/razorock offer a superior product.. my2c.
