      It's good to see a person mow a lawn that does no what his mower can do, and won't do. First time i have watched a person mow slow in long grass, and not have to go over it like 3 or 4 times as they go to fast. He is slow and letting his mower do the work it was made for.

    Yeah the Great Dane mower I used which was a friend's was a 61" Chariot with a 25hp Kawasaki, I would say around a 2004-2005 model. Best mower I've ever mowed with and funnest with the drive controls in between the knees. Have yet to try a stand-on Great Dane. My biggest mower I have right now is about a 2005 Gravely 260z with hydraulic deck lift. I really like it but I'll definitely have to get a 61" Great Dane Chariot. I did own a 2006 Scag 36" at one time.

    Hey man, you probably know a lot about this industry, but if I could throw my two cents in. I promise I won't be mean.
    1. When me and my crew show up to a property, the first thing we do is weed eat and edge, I know you mow thick grass but if you're used to a certain height, trimming should be no big deal.
    2. When you're mowing. Now it really high the first time, then slowly drop your deck until there is virtually no debris. Or what I do is mow it multiple times, once high in one direction, then second at my final height and in a completely different direction.
    Instead of mowing half and half, try stripping it.
    And lastly. Never mow in circles, all your debris go to the center, bog down your mower, and leave you with a hell of a mess to clean up. I hope this helps, anything I can help with, I'd love to!

    Very nice video! I enjoyed it quite a bit. Your mowing videos come from Florida it looks like and once in a while you like to experiment. What is on my mind now is I was evacuated from my home from the Carr fire near Redding Ca just recently. I have returned home with no damage to my home but over 1000 buildings were burnt up and several lives were lost. It is very dry here and I was wondering if you could educate me if you want to about a few questions that I would like to know more deeply. 1. We are encouraged to mow before 10 AM because the humidity is greater. Instead of time what range of humidity is an acceptable value?2. Have you done any experiments on how easy it is to start a fire from mowing?3. Do you think carrying around a fire extinguisher while mowing is Practical?4. Are there any thought or regulations on mowing as regard to fire prevention you know and can share with us?

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  6 лет назад

      I've mowed in very dry conditions, although nothing as bad as Carr, but I've even had dry grass buildup smolder on the muffler but it never ignited. It IS a very good idea to keep a fire extinguisher with you, at least in your truck. A mower's wiring harness ignited on me one time and I couldn't do anything but watch. I do keep a fie extinguisher handy, sometimes right on the mower. Oh, just watch where the mufflers are. They are the hottest part. As for humidity, I have no idea. But actually, it seems kinda hard to start a fire from a mower. But of course, this is Florida. We've got no drought, in fact it's raining too much. You change your approach as the conditions change. Not sure if I helped any?

    What do you charge for overgrown lawns or a normal lawn cutting during the week I been thinking about starting my own property management company and do like normal grass cutting and edging and blowing and land clearing with mini excavator and skid steer plus small tractor to mow pastures and what would u charge when doing lawns

    • @bengus8148
      @bengus8148 6 лет назад

      Zero turns are more affordable today than they were 20 years ago because of competition. Back in the day about the only commercial zero turn you could buy was a Hustler at nearly $9- $10,000 a pop (260K with a 60" deck)--I had four at one time. Dixon had one but it was just a plastic play toy. Now you can get a damn good one for just doing your own yard for $2000.00---2500.00

    Seriously bro you need to answer someone. Everyone wonders where you are, why we keep seeing all these Facebook ads with clips of your videos, etc etc..... Can you update your subs?????

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  5 лет назад +2

      Ah, yes, I didn't think of that community tab update thingy. Well, I kinda hate when people devote a video or anything on big explainations. I'm sure everyone just wants the videos to start up again. And that's how I'll do it. As for Facebook ads, I made some agreements for my content use and some of those networks are huge. Not sure if those companies actually have my permission or not. But I'm not worried about it. I do want to start filming again. Just some stuff in life getting in the way. I do plan to return. And soon. Hoping...
