But I've only been to Bangkok once, just for a few days stay, no sky train back then in new year 1996, so I don't really enjoy the traffic jam going to places. I had been living and working in KL for almost 5 decades, and see the changes from decade to decade, so with that experience, I love KL much more. If you want to experience the real KL life like the locals, u got to move out from the city and live in the residential area. One of the places I would recommend is Kota Damansara, not only it's one of the famous areas, the highlight is there are thousands of restaurants in Kota Damansara particularly if you are a fan of Chinese food. If you try a restaurant a day, it might take you 2-3 years to visit. And it's quite near to the largest mall in Malaysia- One Utama. Basically, you do not need to travel to KL for years if you are living in that area.

Stay in KL and drive all the way to Bangkok twice a year. As i drive i can explore Hatyai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Koh Samui, Chumphon and Bangkok. While "VIETNAM INVESTMENT REVIEW", Indonesia "TEMPO", VnExpressInternational, Masahable SEA, SeaAsia and a few more named Malaysia as no 1 most visited country in 2023, but many more bestowed Thailand as the champion. I think the confusion arose because of the categories, where the comparison was done between cities of Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok and there was also a comparison between countries Malaysia and Thailand. The result can be different in both categories
