The true color of art is the enjoyment of making it.
DimaSTR awh that's sweet ^W^
is it possible to hate it ? cause I draw and I'm kinda good at it. like sure I've got potential. the problem is I don't think I ever enjoyed doing it. The only reason I draw is because Im good at it. i absolutely love art but I don't think i love making art. Im majoring in art and I think Im making a mistake.
G....There is nothing wrong with what you are stating/feeling.....I have been a portrait artist...Painter for over 44 years. And I don't actually enjoy it....I have had this talent since the age of 7, and sold my first paining at that age, for $250....But I can honestly tell you that I absolutely don't enjoy drawing/painting.....Just because I can do it...And it comes so naturally to me, doesn't mean I enjoy it. Wow, you are the fist person I have ever heard who draws, but doesn't enjoy it....You're not alone...Just because you don't enjoy it, does not mean you have to stop....I haven't.....I can draw most things in less than half the time it takes for most to draw. like this 33 minuet forehead, for instance, that would normally take me, with my own technique about 5-10 maximun...I could take a standard #2 Dixon Ticonderoga pencil and a blending tool and come out with some awesome artwork. Yes, use other pencils, such a mechanical pencils if I need o draw thin intricate lines, since I am a professional and they need to be PERFECT.!!!!!.....And have dozens of graphite, charcoal , Rapidograph pens. You name it...I work with oils, acrylics and alkyds....But they are a pain to clean up after.....And is why I prefer portrait drawing. Just wanted you to know that professional artists, don't always enjoy what they do just because they are AMAZING at it.....Good luck to you...Keep it up!!! Peace :-)

'Ew'...
Best tutorial I've seen on shading. A lot of the videos I've seen are the people just talking about how to shade, and not showing how they actually do it. I'm a visual learner...I need to see it being done. You can talk at my for hours on how to do something, but if I don't see you putting your words into practice, I won't retain one whit of what you were saying. Bravo! love it! And the music is extremely relaxing. Love it.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
I do the same , i learn visual than saying it. This video is good!
You have the patience of a million men
ikr i wish i had patience like that...i like doing my art in one day i dont like waiting
Amen! ::D art is so simultaneously rewarding and absolutely frustrating for me lol, I have to take a lot of brakes to keep from ripping my own hair out lmbo, I need more patience for sure!
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out steps to draw pencil portraits try Skyarza Portrait Coach Star ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
Everything with quality takes time because non of us is perfect, and also this would take me a week
I draw, its not patience, its the joy of doing something you love, it passes the time so fast. Once you start a drawing to finish you get so transfixed into it your whole world disappears.
I love (NO TIMELAPSE) drawings. Please do more like this
can you teach patience? ty!
lol tell me about it. 30 min on the forehead
+Landi E It's so worth it though isn't it?
Rude that much? ty!
Art and ArtShows you draw better than anyone...wow...i loved it....best artist ever imagined off
well he can if only you can draw half of as well as he does it
Sometimes when I draw a face, it looks like a potato got squashed by a bus... And then had plastic surgery that went totally wrong! 😒
+Zoe Merced you must draw actors
xXCyber PhenioxX i see you use my face as reference
xXCyber PhenioxX my drawings to be exact
learn how to have one instead 😂
🤣
I've lost my motivation to draw for a few months now until I watched your vids. Thank you for igniting my passion. Seeing how patient and relaxed you are made me miss the feeling. God bless :)
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
I was smacking myself on the forehead when I saw you were using a q-tip to blend, that was such a "duh" moment ::D This whole time I've been using my finger, never even thought about that!
l
Haha ::D I LOL'D, anyway, thx for the tip! :) I do have a tendency to be kind of messy when I'm "in the zone" so I might have to look into that
+DingleBungus do you know why he needed the mechanical pencil? why not just file or use sand paper on a pencil?
animelover3083 Well I'm guessing it's because a mechanical pencil is consistently the same thickness, whereas a regular pencil has to be constantly sharpened to have a fine point. That's why I use one anyway :)
emi loo ah, ok! thank you.
So patient. I usually spend many hours on drawings but thats over a few days.
It's so great, please create videos about how to draw hair, lips and nose. It's so helpful, keep going, and please do these videos.

I was searching for a video on how to blend shades till I found this... Thank you so much, really reqlly helpful to me 🤗
Thanks for letting me see the technical process by which you bring your fabulous talent to fruition.
To be an artist like you Cris, one really need patience and skill. You are too good

ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
Wow 🔝
This is a true inspiration for me and many people thank you for being on this earth to teach and show the level of artistic talent and patience truly a blessing ❤️
This is SO beautifully drawn, calming to watch and I've seen a video from you which was filmed in 2014 and - from my tired little eyes 'laughs' - I can say, I see LOTS of improvement.
And what I fucking LOVED was how you SHOWED the pencils you used. Everybody can have those tools at home and with such simple tools you created something so stunning. 'applauses'
Keep up the good work!!
+Deadpool Obsessed my eyes too
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
Thank you for the normal speed demonstration. I really enjoyed it.
Other great blending tools are: Cotton wool balls (for larger areas), and my personal favorite: tissues, as you can fold them into the best shape for shading.
Plus, did you know that you can use the Black and Greys from a colour pencil set to produce a black and white drawing?
(this is the method I use) as I prefer colour to graphite pencils.
iv watched this vid ..like...10 times and im still floored with the unparalleled...calm.....that comes over me like a voodoo spell my blood pressure drops, i stop shaking, and the inspirational light of creativity floods my soul thx Cris your work is .........stunning!
I appreciate the normal-time demo because the greatest challenge for me is getting the skin tones and variations, and watching how you handle them is very helpful. Thank you.
This is a fabulous lesson. Thank you , thank you!!! For the real time.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
I've always used my finger to blend. Next time I'm going to try to blend with a Q-tip. I love your dravings. They are amazing!
*drawings
Never blend with your fingers! Because it will ruin your drawing causing oils from your hand will smudge all ver
+Keeknasty *over
+Keeknasty Thaks for the tip, I used fingers too..
+Keeknasty very true, you know my entire life ive been taught to blend using your pencils and skill, never blend using anything else (including Q-tips) because then its not really blending is it?.. its smudging
I am so impressed with your techniques and approaches to these beautiful works of art. You are a real master.
Thank you for this video. So many people are just showing sped up work as tutorials but You cant see technique so this is much appreciated. Great work!
Amazing. What an extraordinary gift. Be encouraged.
RevEvangelist JOHNSON You can learn drawing I promise. I was very bad at first but now it's getting better and better
No.
GREAT! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK.
you can work for art too, I started as 6 year old boy drawing stick figures that were supposed to be Spider-Man.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
Never thought about using a Q-tip! Thanks, this is quite useful!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
You probably don't know how much I needed this video.
Most of the how-to-portrait-videos I've watched are either timelaps / speedpainting style, just the sketching, or they use different art media (like watercolour, acryl,...). I'm practicing pencil portraits for 15 days now, and there hasn't been a single day I haven't beat myself up over how long it takes me to blend the skin. 10 minutes in and I haven't done half of the face, and I start to kick and hate myself.
Thank you. Between this and your charcoal quick shading it has helped me quite a bit as a noob to drawing.
This is exactly what I needed - perfect for me to see exactly how it's done. Exactly what I needed!! Thank you for the video!!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
OMG....you are amazing! Yes, I like to normal speed. It's perfect. Thanks so much! :-)

ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
Absolutely love this video just watching has helped not only my portrait shading but all my artwork.
For me, the lesson wasn't so much how to shade realistically. The lesson was the dedication to the drawing. Like many people who have posted, I want to finish my drawings quickly, and they often disappoint me because they aren't as good as I would like them to be. This video has shown me that rushing through anything immediately leads to an inferior product. If it's worth drawing, it should be worth the time and the patience it requires. Thank you for showing me the right way.
I love your technique, you've just inspired me to get back into art, thank you. And you also have very, very beautiful hands :) Absolute perfection!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
Simply stunning, your talent is amazing and thanks for the tips I've just got back into drawing, will definitely be getting these recommendations pencils, sending love xx
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
JUST FANTASTIC
This is so beautiful if the whole world does just what you're doing here, it would be world peace. Thanks for spreading the beauty and sharing your talent.

ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
When you're actually drawing and the music is start to change your mood and feels you refresh and so relax while calmly draw... Love that kind of music, very relaxing, and it gives me more patience...
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
WOWWWW!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing your experience
This is how tutorial should be. Less talks more on doings
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
Mostly, this reminded me of the joy of drawing when I don't go so fast & just slow down enjoying the experience, relaxing in my work. I tend to be to production oriented, sometimes, I think.
So
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
Patience is a virtue, a connection with your inner peace, not everyone can do it. Thank you for your beautiful videos.
Hats off to this great artist and his patience... My patience gave up in the few initial moments and I wanted to fast forward and wanted to see the end result. It is indeed a very difficult task to have such a great amount of patience and skill to do with lots of passion
Beautiful work & beautiful music. Such an inspiration to me to continue to draw portraits!
The video was great, but I would have enjoyed it more if you were explaining the Technic. Were you blending the "F" or did you q-tip a little of the darker pencil?
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
thanks a lot for the shading tutorials. they are really helpful.
Wow! Beautiful.
The music is giving the drawing a sense of something slowing coming to life, a wonderful video. I am totally amazed how smooth and well toned and blended you created w cotton swab, when I was using a Chamois it was blochy and forget a blending stump it left streaks. How light of a pressure is used w the swab? Is the mechanical pencil a particular size like the various soft or hardness as the pencil? I would like to hear some narration instruction or is it in the time lasped video?
Diane L Jordan I love your opinions about this vid. it is serious and realistic. ^-^
Brandon Rihm smh 🤦🏾♂️
I thought the comment was aright, what's wrong with it?

Your work is beautiful and it is also very relaxing to watch. I used to sketch and draw but I haven't had the passion to do it for a while. Again very beautiful work thank you for sharing your talent.
Just beautiful!
if you sat through the whole video without skipping anything ur a legend
Good comment/observation....
Probably the best way to show drawing techniques in real time motion (as opposed to those awful "speed" videos) would be too skip a few minutes here and there (I'm sure that most people did that anyway).
I would like to see you draw the image out completely, then see you shade it.
agree
ruclips.net/video/Oma8G7VrD3I/видео.html
Absolutely!!!
well, I don't know if this is normal but some people can't draw with someone looking at them
I have this prblm I just can't draw in front of the others
yeah I know it's stupid complex
Wafaa Gosick i can understand that. theres lot of stuff i can only do when im by myself.
but to reply to the comment the above guy made, the artist finished the face, then shaded it, then in a separate video finished the hair then shaded that.i guess its his procedure he cant do it another way. i have certain drawing habits myself
Bravo Chris! I watched every careful stroke. Great video of the technical aspects of shading to bring out the physical features softly and in the end you have realism. Kudos!
Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us. This is amazing.
Congratulations buddy you did it! The video was wonderful and the your Picture Beautiful, could you please tell me who is the woman in the picture you drew?
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
exquisite!
+Diane Evans Thanks!!

:(
+Abdullah Alubidy You will get it buddy!
+Abdullah Alubidy
There are no mistakes. There is just feedback ! Draw a 1.000 pictures with shading and see how professional you got. There is always progress and success you have to train yourself to see it !
Sephirothxxl1 i do my best but i cant draw what i see or thinke in the same way.my hand is draw bad picture i see it easy but when i drow it isn't the same.that make me saad.& make me disapointed.
:(
This clip of yours really reminds me of how much I have enjoyed the process of drawing, not the results. Thank you so much.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
I have been watching your videos for awhile now and I love how you explain everything. Also, I love the normal speed. You re a wonderful artist! Thank you for sharing!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hey😍
Which graphite is used in the mechanical pencil? Thx
+Arthur de Oliveira HB
+Arthur de Oliveira lol.you spoke my heart out.i was going to ask this and was too lazy to type and so was searching if anyone asked it haha lol .xD. but finaly had to type to reply to you lol.
I should take this long, instead of finishing it in an hour :( .I'll try to take more time into my drawings, I can only improve with time, to think 3-5 years ago I would sit in the back of the room at my house only with a #2 pencil, drawing for 6 hours a big portrait, as big as a table! Drawing every single detail and trust me it was so great to draw every detail
hey Key ssi :D.... lol same I take a veeeeryyy long time too... probably because I never took classes and taught myself..
You are an EXCEPTIONAL artist! Absolutely amazing shading and blending, and the detail in this piece is incredible! :)
Love the video and technique. The musing is very soothing. Very pleasant to watch and learn. Feels almost like a meditation on shading.
who's the model?
+Midnightmare Heart nice meme you've chosen for your profile pic
Whos the model/reference
real time rules!!!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hii☺
Amazing work. One has to practice on their own how to apply pressure during blending and shading. This video also tell us that all good work comes with lot of patience and hard work.
Woah that’s so cool keep up the good work you are very patient and that’s what makes art much better to take your time I love what you drew it’s incredible!
How long does it take per drawing
couple of hours ! depending on the size of the drawing and the artist too. beginners take longer for a 5/10 quality of drawing. id assume his drawing took 3-6 hours
i need like 10 hours to make a realistic drawing, but its worth it :D
me too
it depends on your mistakes that you make. if there's alot then alot of rubbing out is in place but if u make less (like this guy in the vid) it can be relitavely fast. it's all about patientce
I take 4 hour's for the reality portrait
why does the video keep changing from blue to yellow? Is that on purpose? curious. ..
***** ambulance Dingus..lol
Angela Collier lighting probably
Sarina Velez ........😒
Angela Collier probably lighting
it does, so maybe you need a visit :)
Your technique is stunning! How you achieve such subtle shading, with a mechanical pencil, no less, is amazing. I would have unwanted lines everywhere. Thanks very much for the video.
Your work is just perfect.
I need art supplies😭
Girl all you need is commitment! :) I am currently working on an extremely detailed pencil drawing using nothing but a 0.3 mechanical pencil and a piece of printer paper, and it's going amazingly well! I've even been using my fingers to shade and blend, although, I think I'm gonna use a cotton swab from now on, that seems less messy lol. Trust me, you don't have to have special equipment to create beautiful art, you only need the time and inspiration :)
emi loo Thanks for letting me know. I often feel intimidated because I don't have a lot of fancy supplies because I think I won't do it right.
I've never really been one for diverse/expensive art tools, I just like to work with the minimum amount, or whatever I have on hand. Whether it's watercolor painting or pencil drawings, I find that it's best to start out simple and ONLY get the bare minimum of tools and supplies you need, so that you don't overwhelm yourself. As you grow as an artist, you can begin to see what tools you might want to consider or what works best, but like I said, begin with what you have on hand and practice as much as you can! Art often intimidates me as well, and starting a new project is sometimes a hassle. However, it is ALWAYS rewarding to accomplish any type of artistic endeavor, and you will only get better with practice. As someone with no formal artistic training, I think the best way to learn is by doing and teaching yourself. Good luck, and remember there's no time like the present! ^-^
I promise that I am not an evil internet troll, just offering a thought as a professional portrait artist. You can get a more dramatic effect (darker darks, smoother blends) in a fraction of the time with charcoal.(meaning-this entire drawing-not just forehead-rendered to at least this level of skill, apx. same size honestly takes me around 30 min. Not bragging just offering a material comparison) I know that charcoal is intimidating to some artists, but with practice it is superior.
awesome work right? I dont eve n know how Im going to figure out how to draw, thought I was doing good! but the i realized how heavy handed I am! I couldn't draw like this on my best day! 😊💓
charcoal can get messy quite easily, for studying purposes i find a simply hb pencil can do wonders.
CHRIS SAMBA SI AWESOME
THAT'S WHAT I CALL TALENT 👌
This is gorgeous!
When your realistic drawing looks good but looks nothing like the person 😪
I got you 😵
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
Haniim Artz I said it looks nothing like the person as in the person person I’m drawing, not A person lol but thanks
drawing is a gift it cant be taught in my opinion
I think it can to a degree, as long as the passion for art is there, and of course, practice and push yourself everyday, the unfamiliar teaches you so much, especially when you return to drawing things that you are more comfortable with.
I agree. It's a gift.
Not overall but many Gifts can be achieved.
This is just amazing skill. It shows you've put the time and practice into your art. Wonderful. A master.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html
Spectacular.
wow thank you for teaching for right combination of shading
You have a delicate touch sir, very nice
You're very good. I've only been trying for a month now, and I taught myself. I still have a lot to learn. You're very talented. I think it would take a long time to reach your level if ever. Congratulations.
Beautiful drawing!
Your art is so beautiful u inspire me so much❤✨
very awesome. a lot of patience pays off.
I just love your teachings. Just found your channel and I’m obsessed
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hii😍
Thank you for taking your time, this beginner appreciate it
your art inspires me to practice more!
Ow my this is beautiful
I thumbs up because you're showing us "the real" part of being an artist. Not the fast forward one. This encourage us to work hard.
You, my dear, have a very special gift. I love to sketch although I’m not nearly as good as you but it relaxes me and puts me in another world...and watching you draw sends me into that same world!!! You are awesome!!
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
I always screw it up, but you are so patient ^^ Great work. Thank you for shairing us!
I believe you are a perfectionist but not at all in a bad way. You truely love your craft.
speaking of skin.. yours is beautiful! Holy! Love the music too.
ruclips.net/video/4rcpBLOxLog/видео.html hi😍
Thanks a lot for publishing this videos...I used to learn a lot from all these videos ..........
