Citroen Berlingo B9 1.6 HDI DV6C (9HL) Fuel Injector Replacement v2

The process of resolving a faulty fuel injector on a 2011 Citroen Berlingo fitted with the 1.6 HDI 8 valve DV6C engine. In this instance that is engine code 9HL the 115 bhp variant with the Continental/Siemens fuel injection system.
This Berlingo previously had an engine replacement due to a snapped cam-belt, and its hard to be sure what injectors are original to it, nor do i know if past injectors were fitted with new copper washers and other hardware. It was clear to see when injector 4 was removed, in this instance injector 4 was the faulty injector. There was visible evidence that combustion gasses had been escaping as there was a buildup of carbon around the injector. This meant some cleaning was required before fitting a replacement injector.
Using a fault code reader, the berlingo threw up fault code P0271

The injector itself when inspected with a multimeter showed a significantly higher resistance reading than the other 3 injectors, the electronic component inside had failed. Although i will not claim to know any more about what goes on inside these injectors. If there are other tests or possible ways to fix these injectors DIY please mention in the comment section.
An important step to carry out if replacing an injector is to program in the code on top of the injector so that the ECU can be calibrated to work at its optimum with the injector fitted. In this case i entered the code for all 4 injectors as there were a couple not matching what was fitted to the engine.

had to have two of them replaced 😡
both times car went limp mode hundreds of miles away from home
expensive jobs, but seeing what's involved, I wouldn't want to try DIY 😜
