Cellar Darling is the awesome collaboration between former Eluveitie members Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter & Ivo Henzi. Though I would've liked Eluveitie to still feature Anna's singing and playing, I was happy to hear she would continue to make music herself in similar style.
When I first heard Avalanche, I knew I had to make a cover, as this lends itself so perfectly to cinematic style I suspect that this song was at least in part inspired by modern film music. I hope to have brought that out with my cover!

Me too!!! I don't know why I didn't check their album out sooner but I've really fallen in love with their style. Anna is amazing on this and it really is the perfect album for the sunny weather here right now^^

Thanks Kieran! They are definitely very new and not very well known yet but do deserve to be. This band is kind of the result of the latest member change in Eluveitie. I would recommend everyone to check them out, they are worth it :)

So beautiful!!! Well done. I have heard the original and liked it a lot, but I think I like your version best. :) It's very beautiful when you play two viola parts at the same time. Have you ever thought at making a 4 viola parts piece, or even just viola alone by recording numerous layers? :)
That's so nice, thanks^^. I love the original actually, the song is really haunting and Anna's voice works for that for some reason. And that such a great idea for a composition! I'll probably do that sometime soon, a song with just viola would be awesome :P
super works , love the sound of this viola , how do you record it ? do you use a special microphone ?
Thank you Philippe! I use an AKG Perception 420 (condensor) combined with Audio Technica 831 (Small voice mic). I spread them left/right to try and make the sound as big as possible, hope this helps :)

Yes I did, those AKG's are truly wonderful for their sound, record stuff so cleanly and true to the source :)
