Lindsey Stirling's Elements is the most difficult song I've covered on viola to date. Lindsey's songs always sound deceptively easy to play, but a lot of them turn out to be quite difficult. How she manages to play these while dancing is beyond me.
The viola gives a really different character to the song, which I hope you'll enjoy nevertheless!

Lindsey Stirling (born September 21, 1986)[1][2] is an American violinist, dancer, performance artist, and composer. She presents choreographed violin performances, both live and in music videos found on her eponymous RUclips channel, which she created in 2007.[3]
Stirling performs a variety of music styles, from classical to pop and rock to electronic dance music. Aside from original work, her discography contains covers of songs by other musicians and various soundtracks.[4][5] Her music video "Crystallize" finished as the eighth-most watched video of 2012,[6] and her cover version of "Radioactive" with Pentatonix won Response of the Year in the first RUclips Music Awards in 2013.[7] Stirling achieved one million singles sold worldwide by August 2014.[8] As of September 30, 2017, her Lindseystomp RUclips channel exceeded 10 million subscribers and over 2 billion total views.[9]
Stirling has been named in Forbes magazine's 30 Under 30 In Music: The Class Of 2015. Forbes notes her quarter-finalist position on America's Got Talent season five in 2010,[10][11] a No. 2 position on the Billboard 200 for her second album Shatter Me in 2014, and her 9 million subscribers on RUclips.[12]
Stirling's eponymous debut album was a commercial success in Europe, selling 200,000 copies in Germany, winning a platinum certification; three additional certifications were given by Austria, Switzerland and Poland. The debut album was nominated for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards for Top Dance/Electronic Albums.[13] Stirling's second album Shatter Me won the 2015 Billboard Music Awards for Top Dance/Electronic Album.[14]
You know when your brain permanently links a song to a very specific feeling you had when listening to it once? I listened to this on loop while reading the last part of The Way of Kings and now every time I listen to it I can relive that amazing sensation.

This is the best version of this song, even better than the original in my opinion.

I have been playing this on loop for literally hours! Viola isn't the most popular instrument but talented violists like you inspire me to become a better violist. Did you just transpose the violin sheet music? Can't wait to hear more!!
Update- I want to learn to play it like you because I LOVE how you did it so I’ve been playing the video three times slower than normal to try to pick out the notes. 😂 shows how dedicated I am I guess. 😊😊
Hey hey, sorry for the late response! I did the same thing actually! Just play the music a lot slower and pick out the notes ear by ear. I think Lindsey has released sheet music for viola though...

Hallo Marc, wat klinkt deze cover fantastisch! Ik ben Elements nu ook aan het oefenen, maar bij de officiële bladmuziek zit niet de mooie "orchestral" backing track, alleen een piano backing. Zou je de backing track van deze cover willen delen? Als ik 'm dan uiteindelijk kan spelen zou ik dat graag met die backing track doen, uiteraard met credits naar je kanaal.
