It's bad enough that the kid watched a policeman get his throat cut open, but to have to crawl on the floor of a Philadelphia train station men's room on top of it? Poor kid.

There's something very comforting in how Detective Zenovich gives a friendly smile to Samuel when he enters. Very tragic that he's brutally murdered a few moments later by McFee and Fergie. At least he was avenged by Book in the end. A small but vital role performance by Timothy Carhart that was simple, but pleasant in that kind smile to the innocent kid.
I like how book originally planned to avenge him and carter through violence but backed down from giving Schafer a well deserved beat down because by that point he respected the Amish too much to insult them with another act of violence after they just saved his life so he decided to let the law decide schafers fate
you are right. Amazing and impressive the scene in the police station. Unbeliavle the atmosphere that peter weir creates. When the boy discovers the photo of assasins in the store window, and harrison ford in the distance realizes that something goes badly. A link beetwen the police and boy only across the look and the silences. Thats lins continuing until the end of movie. Brilliant. The best scene for me.
In the movie, it is not known or told why McFee and Fergie both kill Detective Zenovitch....but in the script, its actually known why - because Zenovitch refused to join the bad guys and he was investigating the corruption of Schaffer,. and so he paid with his life.....Death also came for John Book's partner, Detective Elton Carter, but they do not show that scene in the movie
@@Archmetal06 Thats a good point there, the napping man would've definitly woke up to the man's screams and the lady with the book would have noticed them 2 walking out, and Rachel's mother would have also seen, but surprisingly, neither those 2 were questioned, only Rachel and Samuel were

Apparently 'stumpig' means "runty" or "little." Harrison Ford stands up and says, "Oh, he's a big guy, like me?" And Samuel grins and repeats, "Big guy!"
A truly epic and terrifying scene especially when watching it as a kid. Side note, the custodian at 4:56 is played by Robert Earl Jones, the father of James Earl Jones.
That kid reminds me of Kevin McCallaster in Home Alone movies, where a kid won a war against criminals. And yeah whoever used a knife should have realized it would have caused him to only live few more days before being killed.
Trust me, that bathroom scene inside a movie studio was a thousand percent better than if they actually filmed it in the restroom at 30th Street Station. Forget Fergie and McFee. The stench would kill you. The bathroom door at one time was exactly where they filmed it.
His mother couldn't take him into the men's restroom, I mean, come on here, he was old enough to go to the mens restroom himself, yet he had to witness this murder which alone was pretty terrifying for a little kid, however, still, he had to use the restroom, and he is big enough to do all of that himself.
does anyone have the handgun scene. When Book finds samual touching the gun? I feel this is the great scene in the movie. Total missunderstanding what the gun is. i love it
Is it just me or do a ton of 80s films have a scene in which one random character is seen splashing water in their face over the sink in a public bathroom?
LightLife4 yes he was an under cover cop investigating corruption and Danny Glover’s character McFee is a corrupt narcotics officer and was about to be investigated but the detective was killed before could turn Danny Glover’s character McFee and his partners in including Books friend and boss Schaffer who is corrupt and protecting McFee.
McFee (Danny Glover) had carried out a drug raid in which huge amounts of a substance called P2P were recovered. P2P is an ingredient in the making of methamphetamine. The P2P mysteriously vanished from the police evidence room before the trial and the undercover cop was investigating the theft of it. McFee had pawned the P2P to drug dealers and had the undercover cop killed to cover his tracks.
And both man who murdered someone lost their life in few days! Also this movie was taken before Bridgewater's Pub in that train station, which had 4 ceiling fans. It permanently closed and I now have all ceiling fans that were in Bridgewater's Pub.
Anybody notice the moment the blood spurts out of the guy's neck after being killed that they don't actually show the neck wound itself? And, this is in an R rated movie, no less. They showed the knife slicing the man's neck open, but they didn't show the actual wound itself when the blood spurts out of it...or any other time thereafter in this scene. Not that I wanted to see the neck wound after it was sliced open since I'm not much of a fan of blood and gore. But, I'm just surprised they didn't show it, considering how violent this movie is and the R rating it got from it.
