The Colts impressed me last season with how much and how they overachieved. I expected the chaos and dysfunction of the previous season and off-season to carry over into a dumpster fire season. That clearly didn't happen.
I think they build upon that and how far they do so is all on Richardson's development. If he breaks out, they might be just as good as I think the Texans will be and legit compete for the division.
That said, I'm being a bit more modest in my Richardson expectations if for no other reason than small sample size. I nonetheless see a 9-11 win team that'll be competing for, if not, earning a wild card spot

A healthy AR, no Taylor contract issue, Pittman and Mitchell, and a pretty good pass rush. I don’t know if they can overtake Houston, but I can easily see them as a WC team.

As a Houston, I can see them overtaking us tbh. They were only 1 game behind us with a backup QB. Not to mention we have one of the hardest schedules this year while Indy is on the easy side. It's all dependent on AR tho. If he's healthy and plays just as well as last year, then they got it for sure.

I’m slamming their win total over locking them to make play offs and a little drizzle on them to make it to the SB. Here’s the thing about the colts secondary. People forget we were missing our number one outside corner almost all of last year, who was playing like a top 16 cb. That Dallas Flowers, who will be back healthy this year. Also, Juju Brents got hurt a few times last year, so we were really playing Kenny Moore, plus our third and fourth (sometimes fifth) corners. With healthy corners, and Juju Brents and Jones coming off of pretty good rookie seasons, and Flowers back in the mix, this should turn back into an average secondary, and with hopefully an above average pass rush like last year, it should be a pretty good defense.
The issue last year was explosive plays, which we let up the most of last year mostly from unlucky missed tackles. It’s very interesting when you look into the stats actually. Because while the pass rush finished top 5 in sacks overall, they disappeared during parts of games, and that’s where all those explosive plays came from. What they’re hoping with Latu is that he’ll be an alpha pass rusher who can take over games and take some pressure off Buckner.
As for everyone hating on AR and saying he can’t be good, while the injuries are concerning, there was really only one injury last year. The first “injury” was him banging up his knee and the colts sitting him for the last two plays of a game we weren’t winning. The second injury was an unfortunate concussion on frankly a cheap shot by a Texans DB. And the final injury was a freak tackle that resulted in a very weird injury that could happen to anyone. In fact, in the same season it happens to Derek Carr inside the pocket, just to a lesser degree.
As far as his talent goes, I think we forget that he was outplaying CJ Stroud in the games he was playing. The reason his completion pct was so low was because in the first half of the rams game his receivers dropped like 5 catchable balls. But then he came back in that game and played just about perfectly, regaining a 23 pt deficit to force OT. In that stretch, he essentially made Aaron Donald (one of the best DTs ever) his son throwing directly in his face 40 yds down field to Alec Pierce, he completed two two point conversions, and never looked nervous the entire time, even if he got off to a slow start. The jags game was a solid game with only one mistake (an int that rookies throw all the time because NFL corners are more athletic and they’re not used to it yet), and in the Texans game, he was COOKING their defense with two rushing TDs before being put in for concussion protocol. He even looked great in the titans game, and you could see him visibly learning each week. And for everyone saying he should’ve sat a year, good news, THATS WHAT HE ENDED UP DOING.
So yeah, those are my thoughts, great vid tho!

As a Colts fan, this is how a typical Colts season goes:
Lose 1st 2 games -> Rattle off an impressive win streak -> Lose some games towards the end of the season jeopardizing the post season making the last game a must win-> Either win final game to make playoffs as a Wild Card/Divisional Exit or lose narrowly/in hilarious fashion missing the playoffs

  • @isaachunsberger2484
    @isaachunsberger2484 4 месяца назад +1

i know i am a colts fan so obviously biased, but i genuinely believe this could be a top 5 offense. Great Oline, great running back, young talented receivers. It all depends on Athony Richardson and if he can develop. He showed flashes last season. If he can continue to develop this team will be set up well. Not to mention we have an offensive mastermind who can scheme ways for his players to be successful. If everyone plays to their potential and stays healthy, this offense doesn't have a weakness. It is primarily dependent on Richardson's development.
the defense could be good. Corners were an issue last year, but it was mostly an experience issue. Kenny Moore is good. Jaylon Jones and Juju Brents showed flashes. If they can develop we will be fine at corner, especially with Dallis flowers coming back. Safety is a bit thin. If we sign someone like Justin Simmons, it will greatly boost our secondary. Our front 7 is already elite. If we boost our secondary i think this defense could be top 10.
I'm not sure I'm willing to say they are a dark horse contender, but i do think we are heavily being slept on. There are a lot of variables, but we could be sneaky great this season.

Few things about AR’s injuries. People act like he’s reckless but quite the opposite
First injury: got it early in the first quarter. Took him out for 2 offensive plays down by 10 with 30 seconds left. Keeping him safe
Second injury: concussions have been a huge thing the past 2 years. Huge issue the nfl needs to solve
Third injury: freak accident with a 230+ pound guy landing on his shoulder at an awkward angle. He could’ve came back but the team opted for surgery so he would be safer

As an Eagles fan, I'm still kinda sour about losing Shane Steichen but I'm actually really glad he's finding success thus-far. As for how far they'll go, I personally think there's a good chance they not only make the playoffs this year, but could possibly be a DIVISIONAL round exit, provided of course that Anthony Richardson can stay healthy. I don't think they'll make the AFC championship game. I don't think they're ready for that kind of competition. However, the season hasn't started yet so it's really anyone's guess. They could make the Super Bowl for all we know. Or they could go 9 and 8 and miss the playoffs again. Who knows? And more importantly, LOOK AT MINSHEW GO! I knew he'd succeed, given the right system. That's something I've been saying since the first time I saw him play in Jacksonville. He just needs the right people around him that can match his energy.

A great deal of this forecast hinges on AR being solid at QB. I just can't share the confidence that he's going to come into his own and put up numbers to the level mentioned in the video when there isn't anything from his personal performance to really suggest that. His time in Florida was underwhelming and even had he played great in the few games he played last year (he didn't, not even close) it's to small a sample. The colts essentially have a rookie QB going into the season coming off a shoulder injury to his throwing arm. I'm a Bears fan and I've some experience with this situation. Fans get all hyped up over a physically gifted QB that can run the ball, that's great and can be a great asset, but all too often it results in injury as well. People swore by Fields, despite the fact that his passing stats were never above the bottom third of the league. He was even listed as a top 100 player *shakes head* Until a QB shows they can be consistent passing the ball, you don't know what you have, but until that point, you don't have a franchise QB.

100%! He keeps saying they had a backup QB last year when Minshew is good enough to start for any team that doesn't HAVE their franchise guy. In my opinion, Minshew was the starter and AR was the backup in terms of what was put on the field

All yall haters in the comments is funny man. First of all AR is not injury prone just because he had a few small injuries and one major in five games.. First of all all AR had to do was see that safety coming and put his shoulder in the safety chest instead of letting him push him over in the endzone that caused AR to roll over and get that concussion the first time and the shoulder he was escaping and the d end pulled him down and landed on his shoulder from behind.. That is not wreckless! And as far as his accuracy his accuracy actually was 59. Something percent before he got injured and he also had 3 passing tds and four running tds before injury which has never been done in the first three games of a season or something like that.. Anyway it was something that has never been done in NFL history.. And to one interception.. If AR wouldn't have gotten hurt Noone would have been talkin bout stroud.. Also AR don't even have to do not even close to all the work.. All he has to do is get the ball to his playmakers which the colts have an abundance of riches with( no matter how many ppl or critics don't wanna admit it) cause if this team comes together with AR and JT in the back field nobody will b able to stop them Josh downs will get a thousand plus yards this year.. Hell he had almost 800 his rookie year from the slot and with Pitt already being a thousand yard number one receiver that's two.. And with AR at the helm you best believe AD and Pierce is about to have a great year.. AR will easily pass 4000 passing yards and that's not even including Woods and Olgatreee stats.. Ppl don't know football saying all this crazy hatin ass shit about the colts or AR.. Im 45 yrs old and been a colts fan since 96 and I've never even been this excited about a Peyton Manning team like I am about this team.. Now yess it can go bad and AR can get hurt again but that's a possibility with every qb in the league just as it is with AR so all the injury worries and hate because of his injury he suffered you mine as well have the same hate for Burrow and every other qb that's been injured last season or before.. Lol.. Ppl are really a trip and don't think sometimes and all you do is make yourselves look dumb or slow.. Lol.. I can't wait to see AR shit all the haters up and I'm taking reciets for him so when I C anybody that was hatin trying to get on the bandwagon when we Killin the league I'm definitely gone remind you and tell you stay in ya lane hater... Lol.. COLTSNATION year this year top 5 offense and defense..
