as a bmw tech, you're most likely experiencing transfer case shudder. nothing to do with your transmission. we see this a lot with x5s and x7s but that may be because there are more of those on the road. the repair for that issue is just a transfer case fluid change. if under warranty it'll be covered, if not then you're better off doing it yourself or taking it to an independent bmw shop as it does require a procedure of setting the transfer case in service mode in order to allow you to extract all the fluid out and then a calibration is done afterwards.
I had the same issue .. covered under warranty .. I don’t know about you but I was told before I got my 540/550 “when you bring it to service your loaner car will always be equal or better to your car” but every time I go it’s a jeep compass , or mini , challenger
You got lucky you got them to cover it ... everyone I know had to pay 300-500 for transfer case fluid change. Even though for my 19 X5 BMW admitted they used the wrong fluid
Replaced with Carquest smh lol. Noise issue gone. I just have noise when I first drive off after sitting for several hours or if there is rain. Guess the brembo pads were the issue.
@@NigelDRealest I’m trying to purchase extended warranty and guess I missed when you said who your warranty is with. Thanks for such a detailed response to my question. Hope they got you straight on your repair.

Is this a common issue with AWD N63 equipped BMWs?
@@MrSamPhoenixthe bulletin applies to all g chassis cars but a lot more common on x5s and x7s.

The ZF 8HP is considered one of the best if not thee best transmission in the world 🌎. Have you ever serviced it since buying the car?
No service since. only 35k miles and no service was needed
How many miles did the car have when you noticed this
I don't remember exactly, but maybe couple thousand miles from the miles shown in this video
Bro, what happened to the front brakes?? What was the outcome?
