Look how they command a venue that large with just their voices! Loyal fans know when to cheer & when to be quiet. The mics were properly balanced too.
The song Kirstie sang lead in (Water) was written by her and Kevin. This was back in the day when Kirstie was a little bit shy about taking the lead vocal and as sweet as she sounded, by comparison she's a powerhouse now and has stepped forward to stand shoulder to shoulder with everybody else instead of being happy to retire to the back. I'm SO glad she feels more comfortable and confident now! I love a Kristie song too! The high harmony in the bridge was Kevin! The album these original songs were all on gave us our first really true listen to how high Kevin could actually sing in falsetto and it was really cool to discover that! I prefer the live version of Can't Sleep Love because the music video doesn't include Mitch's sing/talk/rap part. I love it when somebody reacts to this! Thanks a lot for this!

Ok, when you said that it is the second concert of them you saw (first being Star Wars), I even double-checked if there is no reaction to their Singapore - Aha! record (by fan). And of course, didn't find one. Strongly recommend to do a double - watch and listen the official their cover of Aha first, then check the fan recording from the concert on the same take. Because wow. You have to see their Singapore Aha recording and official video is for comparison how they adapt/modify the songs to sound the same, but differently.
Check out one of their original songs called "Love Again" which is an EDM type of song and reminiscent of their Daft Punk cover. The beatboxing on that one is insane.

This video is 15 minutes long. For the full concert they sing without stopping, at this level of perfection and energy, for 90 to 100 minutes! I've been to three of them, and they've ALL been like that! Can you imagine, they sing between 15 and 20 or so songs, with one seven minute break about fifty minutes in, in which Keven comes out with his cello, Beyonce, and plays, sings and beat boxes the hell out of Bach and the Beatles, and whoever else he cares to illuminate, and then the concert resumes for another thirty or forty minutes. And they do a minimum of five concerts a week while on tour. Unbelieveable! (They have made at least two concert tour films, both really interesting.)

One of the studio versions of can’t sleep love doesn’t have Mitch’s rap in it, they have two versions of this song one without the rap part and the other has the rap but they have a FT named Tink who does that part and Mitch does it when they perform it on tour

I saw them I'm concert in Nashville!! They are PTX. Live or in video. They sound the same. They even said,, they wanted us to hear them sing without their mics 🎤 Asked, us Tobe extremely quiet. You could have heard a pin drop in that auditorium. And they put their mics on the floor and sang, I'll run to You. Absolutely amazing! What you hear is what you get. Period. It's their voices. Nuff said.
Water is an original and one of my favorites on that album. It doesn't get enough love, imo. When I saw them perform it live, there was a French family sitting in front of us, and the mother was absolutely mesmerized by this song. After it ended, she gushed, "J'a...DORE" 😍 I always think of that when I hear Water. I especially love how the background graphics are perfectly timed with the bass drops. You should check out the studio recording, you will love it

Yes, they didn't really let Avi shine enough..On the other hand, his solo music is just wonderful and so fantastic you get addicted to it!! His voice is the smoothest and most pleasing there is.

It was so fun watching this whole video with you. All but the evolution song were originals. It is amazing how they sound so great and well blended live. For the Water song, Kirstie wrote it, and it is one of the very few where she sings lead for the whole song. This is the best recording of that song that I've seen. If you watch it again, be sure to check out the incredible backdrop behind them. There are water drops falling, and every time one hits bottom, Avi does a bass drop and kills it. I saw them perform this live, and it was a highlight of the night.
"Water" is Kirstie's song. She wrote it. There is one other song where one member takes the lead but you can only see it live and it is Avi in his song "Standing By" if you want to watch that.
OMG! I'm so happy you're doing this. This is a concert held in Japan where sound engineers are the best, plus PTX is very much loved there. Their live concerts are just so hoooh up the roof!! Absolutely brilliant, I love listening to Pentatonix live, it proves they refuse to release any music they can't reproduce on stage. Obviously it can be exactly the same because the difference between a studio, video production, or even there own homes, can not equal in sound like a massive arena, with thousands of fans shouting out. I think this is one of my favorite things to watch and listen too of PTX because ALL of them get to shine. That said, this really kind of makes me sad that Avi isn't still with them because he actually seemed to fit so well and this was just one year before he left. It just hits me sometimes how each of these people have the voices to be just huge mainstream (pop) artists if they wanted to yet they chose and stuck with this much more niche genre, especially for Scott and Kirstin who are both more conventional but still they stuck with this which on the face of didn't have very great odds of success initially even after winning the TV show that launched them. It just feels odd, probably a part of what makes them feel even that much more unique

The judges are so impressed they ask him to sing it a second time. For his finale he does billy jean complete with the dancing. Can't sleep love is the only song they had that ever made it to radio play. ofc the rap wasn't in the radio one until they put it out with some female rapper doing that part, but thank goodness this was mtv and they let mitch do it the way it should be!
The Evolution of Michael Jackson was the only one that wasn't an original. They did this show after the release of their first original album, Pentatonix, in 2015. The songs having just one of them leading was actually common in that album (Cracked, Water, Rose Gold, Ref, Na Na Na, New Year's Day and Light in the Hallway all have just one of them doing the lead)
Except for the Michael Jackson medley, ALL these songs are originals that came out on their "Pentatonix" originals album of 2016. Ya gotta hear the whole thing. In her song, "Water," Kirstie has the lead because this is HER SONG. She wrote it and brought it to the group, they worked it over to give it that Pentatonix magic, and boom! It's a great song.

Can't sleep love is the only song they had that ever made it to radio play. ofc the rap wasn't in the radio one until they put it out with some female rapper doing that part, but thank goodness this was mtv and they let mitch do it the way it should be!
The Evolution of Michael Jackson was the only one that wasn't an original. They did this show after the release of their first original album, Pentatonix, in 2015. The songs having just one of them leading was actually common in that album (Cracked, Water, Rose Gold, Ref, Na Na Na, New Year's Day and Light in the Hallway all have just one of them doing the lead)
Except for the Michael Jackson medley, ALL these songs are originals that came out on their "Pentatonix" originals album of 2016. Ya gotta hear the whole thing. In her song, "Water," Kirstie has the lead because this is HER SONG. She wrote it and brought it to the group, they worked it over to give it that Pentatonix magic, and boom! It's a great song.
