Amazing video and exactly what I needed to see. I just got off the phone with a Dodge dealer who quoted me $270 out the door for 1 hr labor to reset my HVAC module! It's insane. They claimed I couldn't do it myself then said that a private garage might if they "had the right programs"... well why can't I have the right programs! Here it is. I believe this reader will do the exact same thing. $170 shipped right now using your link. Thank you very much for taking the time to create this helpful video.
Thanks, it ought to work! The interaction with the dealership is exactly why I made the video. They charge a boat load of money or tell you it’s impossible. Crazy
What are you trying to bypass and what year/make/model? I used it to fix the cruise control on my 2004 after the hemi swap by programming the ABS module
@@mikewilson-ct7uz I don't know of any scan tool that can disable SKIM. Part of the reason SKIM is so hard to disable is to prevent theft so I understand why Dodge made it so difficult. When I did the swap, I simply removed SKIM from the system entirely (unplugged and removed the module and never plugged it in again). If you delete the SKIM module, once a PCM receives a SKIM signal, which takes nothing more than it all being plugged in, the PCM is useless because its SKIM-locked (the value in the PCM PROM memory is now 1 for SKIM, with no known tool to reset it). You want to get your PCM from a truck that never had SKIM, ideally. The issue with the SKIM module is that it stores the truck's VIN in ROM memory so it can't be changed, only a new SKIM module can have a VIN written to it and the part is discontinued with no aftermarket options either. So, the only way the truck will start is if the VIN in the PCM and SKIM module match. The problem with that last sentence is that the ABS module will at the very least need a VIN "D" 8th digit from a 5.7 VIN to not throw the "VIN Mismatch" code with the PCM and cause the ABS and Brake lights to be stuck on. So, in theory if the SKIM came from a 5.7 truck, and the PCM and SKIM have the same VIN, you would have no problem with the ABS because they're all VIN "D" on the 8th digit, but I don't know this for sure. I hope all that is making sense. It took me a long time to figure all of that out because no one has published any of it on the internet until now
