    I thought I knew European history well. I did not realize what a gap in my knowledge I had until now as I work my way through your lecture series. Thanks for posting !

    Any video that starts with "amid the octave of Pentecost" deserves a thumbs up, in my opinion.

    A turning point in history and one of the biggest medieval battles: The Almohads swore water their horses in the Tiber, and the Pope proclaimed a crusade to halt their advance. During the battle the military orders charged until exhaustion against the Muslim lines. Just then the three kings led the rear-guard towards a final charge to assist frontline fighters. The Muslims panicked and fled in disorder. Total victory.

      +Faisal Howaish Sorry but that is not true. That was a constant on Al-Andalus history. Not just for this battle. The only reason of your lost was because your time was finished. History change and the tide as well. Christians united.

    No, this channel is history, but I am also working on some historical fiction which I will hopefully be releasing next year. I just wanted to add some info about my upcoming novel at the end because I've gotten some emails about it lately.

    Hi "Real Crusades History" Could you make some vídeos related to the Portuguese side of the reconquest? We never hear anything about Portugal, also interesting some historians consider the late portuguese explorations and colonizations as part of another crusade, what do you think about that?

      +Primeiro Último Because in that age portuguese people was spanish too, The Spains not Spain, was another name for Hispania.
      Later 90% of this kingdoms created Spain(country) in this age Spain dont exist like country but The Spains(Hispania) existed.
      So technically in that time the portuguese was spanish too, but i repeat not for the modern country.

      @@BicornioSPA Spain was also used, and it's exactly the same as "the Spains".In fact, the only reason sometimes we get the plural form is due to Roman tradition, and they did not refer to the different medieval kingdoms but to the roman provinces of Hispania.

    BTW. Is the shepherd Martin Alhaja, progenitor of the Cabeza de Vaca family? Or did I mix the battles?

      +Justin Tyme The one I talk about in this video I ended up shelving, unfortunately. Just didn't think it was up to par. I have since written a new one which has been edited and I am planning to release in December/January.

    plz stop refering to the kingdoms of the Iberic Peninsula as "spains", Portugal does not belong to spain, so plz call it the Iberians not the spains or else the world will never learn that theres another country in the peninsula besides spain, a country that did many things to help create the world of today

      Sorry but the portuguese of those days called themselves spanish.
      Its a fact.
      Portuguese nowadays can not be called spanish.... indeed nobody does.

      +Suso Medin What the hell are you talking about? Portugal was an independent Kingdom of Portugal, therefore they were Portuguese!

    • @susomedin5770
      @susomedin5770 9 лет назад +11

      +jumpinthefire23 And Aragon and Castille and Naverre etc were independant kingdoms too.
      again.... the portuguese in those days called themselves spanish.
      its a fact. it doesnt matter if you dont like it.

    • @jumpinthefire23
      @jumpinthefire23 9 лет назад +1

      Suso Medin People from Aragon were Aragonese, from Castile Castilian, from Navarre Navarrese. The Portuguese did not call themselves Spanish because SPAIN DID NOT EXIST BEFORE 1516!
