  • Documentary looking at the amazing Battle of Sagrajas, or Zalaca, an epic clash between the Almoravids under Yusuf ibn-Tashfin and Alfonso VI leading the Kingdom of León-Castile in Spain. On October 23, 1086, the Leonese and Almoravid armies faced off in battle at Sagrajas, northeast of Badajoz. Alfonso’s army contained roughly 2,500 men, composed of about 750 heavy cavalry, plus some 750 less-experienced light cavalry, and around 1,000 foot soldiers. The Almoravid coalition outnumbered the Leonese forces by roughly three-to-one; in total, Yusuf had an army of around 7,500, made up of Almoravid forces as well as taifa troops from the Iberian Moorish states. Though he was greatly outnumbered, Alfonso VI trusted in the strength of his heavy cavalry, which he believed could break the enemy formation and deliver a quick victory.

      Mauritania🇲🇷🌴
The Mauritanian Almoravides🇲🇷 Yusif Ibn Tachfin Lamtuni the Mauritanian🇲🇷 was buried in city he founded and named "Marrakech" (The name Morocco is derived from Marrakech) along with his cousin that's buried in "Takant" city in Mauritania🇲🇷, Abu bakr Ibn Umar Lamtuni the Mauritanian🇲🇷 and made it the second capital after Azuky near Lamtuna amount "Jabal Lamtuna" in Adrar in their home town Mauritania🇲🇷 these two cousins are descendants of one of first kings of the Mauritanian Sanhaji Kingdom of Awdagust (Talakakin Lamtuni) No wonder why Mauritania was historically known by "Bilâd Lamtuna" i.e Lamtuna's Homeland🇲🇷
The Kingdom of Awdagust was before the rise of the Mauritanian dynasty, Almoravides🇲🇷
Mauritania🇲🇷 is still known by one of its hitorical names "Sahara El Mulathamin" i.e Sahara of masked men and so were the Mauritanian Almoravides masked men of Lamtuna, Gudala, Masufa... Sanhaji tribes of Mauritania🇲🇷
