Nice work. Like how you've set it out so far and using your creativity for scenes as well. Don't worry about the city being smaller than others. We all have our restrictions to space. Got to make due with what we can. Really nice
You are making some placements that I would not have made and I am finding them really interesting. Thanks for the ideas. Putting some of it together, I think I am going to try and put together an alley street mall in my city.
Digital Hillbilly yeah I find myself tinkering with it everyday lol. I think that’s the beauty of making a city! If you have any suggestions feel free to let me know though! I am Definetely a beginner at this. It’s my very first attempt!
Great video! I've started building a city with my brother recently and it's small but going well, I just want to say that your channel should get so much more popularity, the quality is very good and you are such a decent person in my opinion. (edit) the city is way better than mine
Just last night I staked out a space in my apartment to do what you are doing in this video--I am going to set up a Lego city for 2022. I like what you did with buildings on both sides of the street (a lot of Lego cities I see only have buildings on one side of the street). I am going to take this approach as well. Thank you for this video.
I’m looking to build a city myself and have spent the last year buying up most of the modulars that Lego have produced. Unfortunately I won’t be building them yet as we are looking to move house this year (hopefully). Like you I have been watching other RUclipsrs cities for ideas etc and will be seeing yours develop with great anticipation. Personally I like old style things and would stick with the classic styled street lamps.
Good start Brother Builder. I saw your comment on Robinhood Brix channel, so I thought I would check it out. The newer Lego road plate sets combine a straight one with a side intersection piece.....then the curve is paired with the 4-way intersection. That way you get more straight.pieces. I have found that I have actually used more 4-ways than I thought I would, they are useful where you have a hospital or fire stations. I haven’t tried do video yet.
Yes I realised I’d got them the wrong way round in the vid. Think the next baseplates I need to buy are definetely green ones although I’ve noticed that the ones you buy separate are a lot lighter than the ones that come with the modulars
Brick’n It.......yes, unfortunately Lego has gone to the lighter green shade for their baseplates. But I recently ordered 2 baseplates (that’s all they will allow you to buy at one time) from Amazon, which they list as “classic green”. I also bought two blue plates, listed as “classic blue”I’m hoping they will match what I already have.
The car's parked on the wrong side of the street!! ;) Greetings from America. I love watching your thought process here. I'm going to be building a city with my kids over Christmas break, and I haven't found many videos in the theme of "building a new LEGO city without being a multi-millionaire". Thanks for the video.
Welcome aboard! Yeah cities can get crazy expensive and there are a-lot of opinionated people about the right and wrong way of building one lol. hopefully the vids help you out :)

haha thats a great idea. I think i was over planning though and got to the point of never starting it. I thought it best to have you guys to help shape it and give ideas to the city to make it a commmunity build :) anything goes. i already have plans for batman lol
@@BricknIt haha :D yeeah, I always change the plans .. but I hope not to often haha. At this moment I have only baseplates, roads and trains .. but I hope more soon !
@@BricknIt yes, baseplates can give a good idea of the size of the city ! aaah nice for the train ! passenger ? If you saw mine, I have decided to put only the passenger's .. I will find another place for the cargos !
You will need to work out how to do the corners for the train track as they take up a lot of space and from there you can work out how to use the strange shaped spaces you get round the corners. I don't like those layouts where the train tracks run right in front of the buildings. Also if you don't use a full baseplate for the edges where the tracks are going you could reduce it to, say, half a baseplate and that gives you a whole baseplate inside. Also your main street is currently showing the backs of the buildings on the right. So you could be better off putting those facing the other way (fronting on the main street) and then it would be good if you could another row of buildings on the same block behind them. You could also consider moving the modular on to the edge of the road baseplate; you would have more room that way and the pavements wouldn't be so wide. Your lamp-post could be done with a single 1 x 1 plate with a clip on top, and a plate on the post that clips on to it. Then you wouldn't have any studs showing in the pavement. You need a dumpster in that alley! Looking forward to seeing more progress.
Cheers buddy! Yeah it’s had quite a few updates since this one. The issue with the buildings is room at the moment but it is all getting moved to a new location soon :)
It is a small space but it is still going to be a good sized city. People don't realize how expensive, time consuming & how hard it is to use available free space most efficiently. Just remember that this is still able to be much larger than most people have room to work with so don't feel bad about the size. It's how you work it that matters 😜. Keep up the great work & I'm looking forward to how this turns out!
Cheers buddy! Yeah the space is actually much larger i just dont have the tables at the mo :) so its definetely going to be much much bigger.
