Someone else may have already commented on this as I haven't read all 441 comments. But the difference in the settings is that only the air fryer and roast settings will bug you with the "Turn food" feature. So "bake" is quiet handy because you can get all the way through your first time check without having to pull out the bucket and set it back. Thanks for your review.
*I like that I can "fry" something on a whim! An oil fryer takes so much more time to clean and prepare **MyBest.Kitchen** a chore which usually kept me from frying all together. Also, the lack of needing oil to fry means that my family and I are eating healthier... while still enjoying the crispiness of fried foods.*
Urvashi, I've had my Instant Vortex 6 qt. air fryer for a little over a year, and It's fantastic. I found myself to your video looking for instructions on cooking freshly breaded Perdue chicken nuggets, not frozen. After lots of testing, I found that the 20 piece packs fit perfectly in this air fryer, with no problems. 400 degrees on air fry for 5 minutes, turn them, and 4 minutes more, and they are perfect. You are so clear, and informative, and love your sense of humor! It's been hard to find air fry recipes for FRESH as opposed to frozen foods. Thank You!
I think the only reason the first piece of toast looked crispier was because for the next two pieces the preheat had already been done. The first piece had two minutes longer to cook while preheating. Great review though! And it looks like a great product.
Thank you for taking the time to review this wonderful air fryer. I have the exact same model. It’s been working wonderfully for 2 years now. It cooks everything I put in it perfectly…burgers, bacon, steaks, chicken, fish, and other seafood, even canned cinnamon rolls and biscuits. I use the bake setting for the seafood and breads because it seems to be less drying (if that makes sense). Prior to having the Vortex, I would bake my bacon in the oven because I couldn’t stand the greasy mess of frying it in a skillet. The Vortex is a total timer saver in that it cuts down on mess and clean up. I love it! 💕💗
What do you do about this Forced preheat issue? It doesn't indicate the time of the process so you can do math re total time. If cooking ends and you decide you want more - you have to go through PREHEAT again. Do I have to stand there baby sit like this?
I used to be a product manager for a small kitchen appliances brand. And I can say, from an expert point of view, this was an excellent review. The only person online who discussed the pros and cons of having the inner basket vs just the tray. The reason why they put so many different functions is so they can say “5-in-1”! I would put labels next to them and use them as pre-sets: “fries”, “roast meat”, “pizza” etc I know instant pot didn’t pay you, but they really should because I’m going out to buy one now.
Love the way you said :design should be intuitive" that is 100% true and i hate reading user manuals too. Great review! specially for someone who is lost in options for buying an airfryer.
I have watched a ton of your reviews and sometimes even came back to them a few months later. So much information packed into a review with no useless chatter where I fast forward . I don’t understand why you don’t have more subscribers ...but I finally just subscribed!
Brilliant review! I'm a professional cook who programs things like turbochef speed ovens. I just was given a instant vortex. Great demonstration! The buttons are just presets. The airfryer button is a misnomer. You helped alot since I had no manual. Good job. Thanks
Just bought it today! Grateful for Target pickup, no desire to smell frying oil while we are home or wasting oil. Making onion rings as we speak. Thank you from Alaska 🤗
Nice review! I like how you tested and showed that the Bake , Air Fry, and Roast buttons really don’t give you any different results. I would have thought that Bake would have very low fan speed
Good evening and thank you for this very comprehensive review which was very helpful in my decision to buy this model air fryer. My Vortex AF arrives on Thursday - Yipee!! During my research into different brands I came across this paragraph: "" If you're looking for ease of use in your home, you'll want a fryer with a wattage between 1500W and 1800W. The Cosori uses 1700 Watts of power and has a temperature range of 170 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The Instant Vortex has a temperature range of 95 - 400 degrees and DRAWS 1500-1700 WATTS OF POWER.11 Jul 2022"" and I wonder if the variance across the wattage might be why the Vortex has a selection of "function" buttons? I could well be way off the mark here though! Thank you again for a super review. Best wishes - Marion in the UK.
I am so pleased that I finally bought an air fryer - and especially pleased that I paid attention to the positive reviews of other users, and decided on this one ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . It is just perfect for the two of us, and takes up very little space on my small countertop. I roasted salmon filets for dinner tonight and they were the best ever - slightly crispy on the outside but moist inside. Best of all, no smelly kitchen or difficult clean-up. My only complaint would be the lack of even a few printed recipes to get started. My generation does not find it easy to access the QR code and use the smart phone app. I bought a recipe book instead, which gave me the confidence to experiment.
When I first saw your video I had a 4 qt instant vortex air fryer, but in almost 3 years it gave up the ghost and I tried to repair it, but where the possible components are that can be repaired or replaced they don't make it easy to get to with no screws in the top. So I'm buying a 6 qt now. Hope it lasts 3 years at least like the 4 qt. Great videos!
Excellent review. It seem that we can repurpose the buttons to our favorite dishes. One for wings. 2nd for frys 3 for chicken roast 4th for roasted veggies. That would make more sense to me.... they have pre-program settlings for microwave ovens. If they had the capability that would make things so much easier.
I made beyond meat burgers with air fryer and with about a minute left I put cheese on top and when I opened it my cheese had flown off the burger.... so I think the air fryer option actually hits it with hot air. I did it again on bake and cheese stayed on.
Oh!! I think I'm loving this one, I love that it doesn't have a separate basket, easy to clean and is larger. Going on my "Want list" for sure. Thank you for sharing your Pro's/Con's
Hot damn! That might be the best review of anything I've seen on RUclips ever. I mean, when you type in "product" and review you sure as heck don't expect this kind of performance. I subscribed just because I know I will learn something on anything that's reviewed, and not just watch someone open a box. Really blown away by the info. Might just go get this unit as my toaster/convection oven has just expired. I figured I might have to buy a toaster then for my bread. Then guess what? She makes Cheesy Pepper Bread! Fixed that issue. 👍
I've been wanting to purchase an air fryer for a long time but was so confused with what brand to go for. This video helped me decide and finally bought Instant Pot air fryer.
When you pull the basket out, take a look at the bottom inner metal plate. There seems to be a symbol to indicate that it does heat up. It could be that this metal plate heats up in the bake/roast settings.
I agree with you; all cooking appliances have a heating element and most have a fan. How you get the best end results depends on a person's ability to master the quirks of each idividual appliance. Like you I also feel the most important and useful qualities to look for are: the amount of food it holds and whether or not the volume of it's noise matters. Your quest to use your own money for all of these appliances and testing them so you can give us just the facts, free of the sales pitch given in the advertisementing, is such a blessing. Thank you.
My Instant Vortex AirFryer does have what appears to be a metal heating element in the inner bottom of the AirFryer. In fact it has a triangular symbol with heating waves indicating that it would heat.
Love you! I’ve had these conversations with friends and family. A it doesn’t fry anything. B no matter what setting you press it’s going to do the same thing. For most models.
You brought up some really great points about when discussing the bake and air fry options. I suspect they are the same use it as an "added feature," but it's all the same.
The reason I found your review is because I could not distinguish when to use other programs over air frying- and you answered it immediately! Thank you! It seems to me a better way of thinking about it is that it is a series of different default temperatures and times (which you can change), but that it's all air frying:)
I just stumbled onto your video as I am researching this air fryer that I bought for my brother in law. You are amazing. Great information and charm. Subscribed already👍👍👍
I’m trying to decide between this Instant Vortex and the Cosori. I see that you have reviewed both. Can you tell us how these two compare, pros and cons of each and ultimately which you would recommend and why?
Thanks for the review! I’ve had a 3 quart for the longest and been wanting a bigger one since i like everything spread out like my potatoes. I just bought this online.
Thank you. I am about to buy an air fryer in becoming week. I had one years ago and it was uselezs. I am glad to get the.into from you. I wish you had reviewed the dehydrator though. But never mind. Thank you again. 😃
I have the new stainless model. There is definitely a difference on each setting. The air fryer runs 25 degrees hotter than the set temp. The bake runs 25 cooler than set temperature. I have no idea why they would have anything run differently than the set temp.
@@L1AXYZ it's been my experience no air fryer runs accurate Temps. I always verify with a oven thermometer when I get a new fryer. So far this one had done fine but I always have adjusted the Temps accordingly by 25 degrees.
Great review. You have a new subscriber! I have this air fryer and also believe there is no difference between the cooking choices. Otherwise I am very pleased with it.
Thanks so much for your air fryer reviews. I am concerned about noise and overall performance. Was wondering of all the air fryers you recommend which one is the least noisy?
I have this exact same model and the plastic smell it keeps expelling every time I use it is horrible. I already look throughly for packaging leftovers, nothing. I’m adviced to let it burn for a cycle on its highest and clean it with vinegar, nothing helps! I appreciate any insights on this matter. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this lol....I have searched and searched as well for more specific instructions. Everyone's recipes just say "cook at" ok well is it Air fry or Bake or roast lol which is it 🤣🤣
Nice review, i have a good feeling this is wrapped under the Christmas tree🙏 If correct i will be watching this again. But your review was very helpful. Thankyou
I was given a used IV from my neighbor. I saw on a YT video that Air Fry/Roast/Bake/Reheat are all the same. Only difference is time and temp which you should adjust yourself. All over, I love this fryer and already bought from Amazon a 2 set silicon baskets & mitts. Plus a pack of square parchment paper baskets. I accidently overheated an underdone steak piece. Should have tried reheat. Still experimenting.
Hi, The different buttons are just presets. So if you press each one the time and temp changes showing you the recommended temp for each function, then it's up to you to decide to alter them. The face plate would be pretty boring with just air fry, time, temp, cancel and start but realistically that's what it should have. I personally think you should be able to alter fan speed and for dehydrating lower the temp to as low as 30c (86f) for real dehydrating. I own this air fryer and no matter what i cook cakes, roasts, chooks, fries etc, I just use the air fry button.
Thank you so much for this info. I too have this air fryer, 2 years now and must say I was confused when I got a recipe book on another air fryer saying just use the "air fry" button for everything. So I was worried about baking a cake on air fry and I thought, why does my Vortex have a Bake button then 🤔I love this air fryer very much.
Thanks for your review! Just bought one of these after my Gourmia 4qt’s insert started to rust and the coating started to peel off. Your very informative and helpful!!
I got this one yesterday for Mother's day. I am sad it didn't come with some sort of cookbook. It seems easy to use, larger basket, tonight will be pork chops.
Think your 1st piece cooked longer due to the fryer being cold unlike the other two where it most likely started from "warm" thus cooking them for less time.
I can understand why "experienced" cooks would be annoyed by separate presets that apparently have the same actions! Great review Urvashi, you even covered my question about changing to Centigrade. I wonder whether u have any comment re any strong odours being omitted initially?
hi! since air frying can get a little messy, I'd like to buy liners but not sure if I should get parchment liners or silicone. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you! Your videos are very informative!
Hi, very good review! I liked it. However, I noticed that you cooked all of them in the same time and same temperature. Of course they’re all going to be the same texture. Try to cook it in they’re preset temperature and you’ll notice the difference. Enjoy!
While the preset buttons (Air Fry, Roast, Bake and Reheat) do not change the way this device cooks, they do have a purpose because you will have to make none or less temperature / time adjustments according to the cooking type. I agree that it's little useful.
Thank you for your crystal clear informative videos Urvashi! Could you let us know which is your favorite model airfryer by far? I had made up my mind for Cosori but unfortunately it is not available here in Australia….
Excellent review. You answered my question as to the different functions since the manual didn't mention it. I have this same unit and I love it. I have cooked everything from steak, hamburgers, tater tots, fish and it did an excellent job on all of them. So much space you could fit 3x 9 ounce steaks on it with no problem. The only thing that I couldn't get to ccok properly was crab cakes which are difficult to begin with. All in all this thing is excellent and you won't regret your purchase.
I have this unit. I would have preferred a Cosori but this is what the store had. This is a good review. I find it annoying that you can't turn off the preheat and shake warnings. Too much senseless beeping. I just put the food in and come back when all the beeping stops, I would prefer an inner basket so I could dump the food onto a plate easily. Other than that, I think this unit is fine. The extra buttons are just a marketing gimmick imo. I'm not exactly using it to its' full potential so far because I mostly use it to toast English muffins and cook pizza rolls.
I LOVE the instant pot vortex. It blew the rest out of the water for me BUT it has a non-stick (PFAs) basket. I went with Ninja in the end for their ceramic coating but I miss the instant pot vortex everyday.
Hi and thanks for the review. I went out and bought one and it works great. But, it is LOUD! Is it much loader than for instans a comparable size phillips? Thanks
I’m a developer of small kitchen appliance and I also hate the fact that so many companies shamelessly claim more than what their product can actually do. As you also observed, there's only one heating element, one fan. The only variables are time & temperature !
@@htz70 I have tried the ninja and I don’t like it as it doesn’t have a pre set heat and it seems louder. Mine is fairly quiet, it doesn’t throw a lot of heat out the back, the basket pulls out nicely- you don’t need to push a button or lift the handle. It’s a deep square basket and can easily fit a medium size roast, or a small chicken . It’s easy to read, gives the warning beep when it’s time to turn the food…. Once you get use to it, it’s basically idiot proof. You can change the setting with a knob rather then pushing buttons , and its easy to read. The bottom tray is easy to removed, it has a ring, rather the holes to lift with. Very easy to clean. The one con I have, the silicon feet that help to secure it in place, are too easy to remove when washing and a real bugger to put back on. I didn’t have much of a learning curve with it… I. Have used my ex’s as well, I can’t remember the name of it , but it’s from Costco - and it’s all button - it’s a little more fussy to use- but it has a large basket( but the tray has finger holes for removal- and with arthritis it isn’t quite as easy to remove ).
Got it for this black Friday.. Got a strong plastic smell during the initial test run which even set the smoke alarm off.. still getting that smell after couple of uses too. Planning to return..
I boughtt this 2 days ago haven't open the box yet. Still skeptical if this product to it's job. Heard the handle breaks easy and no parts to replace once broken. Looking for a nice air fryer. Thanks for the review.
Wow, that sounds like a great machine and I like that you describe the pros and cons of the machine. I think I also like the fry tray too. I think I'm going to be trying to find out if you have a recipe book or not because I love the things that you tried today in your video. I had so many peppers in my garden this year that I should've just thrown in my old air fryer. You know I'm going to try that this week! Thanks again for your video!
Heat produced is equal to the square of the current. According to a friend who repairs small equipment the current value varies according to settings. This is more evident with thicker meats than a single toast. The speed of the fan is constant. With Instant Omni toaster oven speed can also be varied as well temp on the fly.
I own instant air fryer oven. It seems with the higher speed fan heat circulation seems to be better . Cooking trays with slotted openings allow hot air to move from bottom to top. The feature telling to exchange tray positions is also good.
@@TwosleeversGreat reviews!! I've watched a lot of them and you hooked me to the air frying. I'm also can't decide between Cosori and Vortex. I'd like to know 2 things - are the baskets with identical bottom surfaces (width/length, the depth doesn't matter) and does Cosori work the same on all presets (like the Vortex) or does it change the way it spins the air on each preset? I'd be really happy if you decide to reply. Because I don't know anyone who has either one and they are only sold online in my country :)So no way of actually physically checking. :))
I have a problem with mine test run they tell you to do empty ,stinked awful made the whole kitchen reek .Had to wipe kitchen down with Lysol and spray air to get it to calm down. Did yours smell ?

Great video! Do you prefer the Cosori or the Vortex?
I brought one a few weeks ago and I just looked up recipes online. they have so much on the internet. for me less clutter
What u put the pork chops on air fryer or bake or roast
Cool Pork chops can you do a bake potatoes in it
Think your 1st piece cooked longer due to the fryer being cold unlike the other two where it most likely started from "warm" thus cooking them for less time.
Great point! Every oven needs a warm-up/pre-heat period. For this lady to write a cookbook and not know that....strange.
OMGosh, you are a joy to watch ---- Thank for this review.
Hi, very good review! I liked it. However, I noticed that you cooked all of them in the same time and same temperature. Of course they’re all going to be the same texture. Try to cook it in they’re preset temperature and you’ll notice the difference. Enjoy!
I like the way you think ! Thank you for being so thorough .
You are so welcome!
you should be on the food network ....great review
Love it! We’ve been needing a upgrade to our small basket air fryer for our naked keto wings and this would save me SO much time
i made naked wings for my first trial and they were amazing!
While the preset buttons (Air Fry, Roast, Bake and Reheat) do not change the way this device cooks, they do have a purpose because you will have to make none or less temperature / time adjustments according to the cooking type. I agree that it's little useful.
I don’t comment much , but I am truly impressed by your video , good 😊 job
Thank you for your crystal clear informative videos Urvashi!
Could you let us know which is your favorite model airfryer by far?
I had made up my mind for Cosori but unfortunately it is not available here in Australia….
Urvashi is my favorite chef! Really good recipes that are not complicated.
Aww thank you!
Literally just came to check the review & instantly fell in love with this women humour🤣 *SUBSCRIBED* 👌
Thank you!
Got mine about a year ago. I love it. Doesn't look like yours at all
I have just bought this one and about to "roast" a whole chicken so my question is how do know which to choose airfry or roast and why? Bx
Question answered. Should have finished watching 😂
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, Zerovorex, Could I ask you what the lowest temperature setting is? Thanks! 😊
@@Twosleevers which air fryer is best with multifunction good in all aspects
Just ordered this! I can’t wait to use it!
Yay! I hope you love it
I have this unit.
Thank you for the info.!!! I just received the Instant Pot Vortex as a gift, but I'm not happy about the PFA's....I think I might return it!
@@gailandrus7667 pfa's don't off gas until over 500 degrees. The instant pot can only get to 400
Thanks for the great review just ordered this and your book for my gf in time for christmas!
This must be her favorite air fryer. Because it is actually the best one on the market.
Why isn’t fan speed a setting?
Thank you so much for the Review!! Omw to Target to get one now!!
I love my vortex instant air fryer. I have used others , and nothing has compared to the vortex
Me too! I use mine every day!
Which others (specific models) have you used, and why do you prefer this?
I totally agree with your entire review. I, too, own this air fryer and use only the roast setting .
would you recommend this or the corsorI?
Got it for this black Friday.. Got a strong plastic smell during the initial test run which even set the smoke alarm off.. still getting that smell after couple of uses too. Planning to return..
One reviewer said you have to use it a few times for the smell to go away. He said all air fryers have this problem.
@@shaunvaughn3323 this brand seems to have the bad smell problem more than some others
Is there a function where you can stop preheating the fryer if you have already finished a dish? and you want to use it again? if it's already hot?
I boughtt this 2 days ago haven't open the box yet. Still skeptical if this product to it's job. Heard the handle breaks easy and no parts to replace once broken. Looking for a nice air fryer. Thanks for the review.
I would recommend that you would take it back when you cook it has a burn smell and if goes into your food
I love you're review. I just subscribed. ❤
My goodness that is loud (LOL!) Thank you for creating and posting this video!
OK, so I went and watched your Cosori review that you mentioned; and I am wondering which would you buy, between the two?
good news is that you can't go wrong with either. I'd find a good sale and do it!
