At 3:20 that wasn’t the lead, Moto, that was Camera Moto. He had just avoided being a hood ornament on the jeep by dropping off into a waist, deep ditch, saving it, bringing it back up. That might explain him being where he was. He is one of the best adventure, moto riders in the world, represented the US at the international BMW GS off road trophy challenge. I was driving lead Moto for the men about 20 seconds up, jeep almost took me out, driver gave zero effs. Great video though and good ride.
as someone who has been watching your videos since day 1 or so I really like your format. it original and make your channel different. this was fun to listen and watch but please keep what you do best!!!
First vid I've seen of yours and the voiceover was on point. Not too much, just right. The re-assess when it all goes sideways is a great trait. Keep it up, man.
awesome, loved the voice over, big fan of the old format already due to your awesome recordings/edit but this really enhances the experience for me anyway.
Another great vid! In road racing I quickly learned to identify the wheels you DON'T want to be behind. Seems this is even more important for gravel. Hope to do my first gravel race in the spring and these vids are teaching me a lot!
Great footage! More real footage of showing how rocky the coarse was. And I have to admit I do like the voice over.great job pushing yourself after the chain off and crash! You are riding strong 💪🏼
Nice work! I like the voice commentary, but I also like the text/graphics, add your funny graphics and text along with your commentary! Best of both worlds.
Lets go! Awesome video. I tend to agree that your previous style of video was cool and unique but also, do what ya want! Still just enjoying the race footage and breakdowns in general. Nice race man!
Great job man! And nice recovery from the crash. Always when I crash Im really scared for at least a few days and you just go right on. Great inspiration.
Hey Drew, the voiceover is fine, but your previous format was what I loved about your videos! It was unique and helped people to understand how riders see the race. Best of luck for cross season and all of next year, and thanks for taking so much time to create such amazing content!
One of the better POV videos. Thanks for the coverage. Liked the narration. And you're thumbnail does not lie .. sketchy, yes! Hope race organizers are watching these vids too. Gravel races look like crits at the beginning at least. Is that what they want?
Yeah I mean it’s an unsanctioned gravel race…without specific starts for every category…so when should the junior get to wear the nats jersey or did they need to just start somewhere else? Kind lame IMO to waste the time to call out the kid but whatevs lol.
@@aliwhittier5492 IMO, just from etiquette. The Jr national champ should only wear the jersey at specific junior races. If it's mixed field, should not wear it, exactly because the national champ might be there too
Roadie etiquette I suppose. I’m sure we can talk semantics of “etiquette” all day I just think it’s silly and a little mean spirited given this kind of gravel race but I’m also aware it’s cycling and that’s just what people do. 😂
@aliwhittier5492 I hear ya. Just weird and confusing to have 2-3 National champ jerseys all in the same group. But o guess that’s gravel. In crit racing the amateur national champ can’t wear his Stars and Stripes if the pro champ is present.
Watching this back and listing to bonk, you've got DJ right where you want him. He's very prideful right now and he's also going to ride Big sugar on mtb tires, and you'll surprise him!
Great video Dizzle! The voice over definitely is better. LTGP would be silly not to accept you next year. If not how else could we keep track of the more important (and entertaining) competition between you and Dylan?
dunno if you’ve messed with chain guides and OSPW’s but my Diverge STR doesn’t have a mount for a guide. So I got the ceramicspeed OSPW for nothing more than an extra amount of tension I can set (there’s multi holes for adjustability - I use the strongest setting) because the AXS clutch isn’t strong enough on a 1x of any config. I also removed an extra link. You probably already know all this. Thanks for the great edits!
That start among cars and bikes is pretty crappy even gravel! The spirit is a little different when you racing a motorcycle! LOL. Man that first 10minutes was a hustle. Lots of wrong tire choices I think. Your TT mentality to rejoin was inspiring! Sometimes you just gotta get it done. I rate this is your best upload, it has it all, lesson learnt is get a chain catcher bro! Dropping chains in 2023? LOL. Great result with a solid day in the saddle. Appreciate the effort in giving us some Gravel candy, even if it was bitter sweet! Keep pedalling brother! 😁
The chain drop on a 1x had to be frustrating but way to persevere through that and your slip out. I did like the voiceover but enjoy both formats. Saw a post from Tobin that he went with wider tires (like 2.1’s) - aren’t those supposed to be faster per Dylan 🤔? I know I tried them a couple of times last season (650b x 2.1) and they felt sluggish
I miss the Dizzle cartoons . . . 🙃 Tough to go down after the chain drop and zig zagging your way back up to the front. That course looked Chunky Monkey! Chapeau for not giving up and posting a solid result! Top 3 at BWR Mexico and you're a lock for the '24 LT GP! 😜 Good luck!
Interesting to see the average heart rate at 174. I recently did about a 2 hr TT with average HR of 171. I was glad to see someone else with HR on the high end. I’m 63
@@DrewDillmanChannel thanks for responding. I just had an echocardiogram stress test and the doc said there are no issues so nothing to worry about I guess. As you say, everyone is different but I am just curious about the why ? Some rarely get above 140…..
Matt Beers in the Toyota/S.Africa Champs kit.

Good insights. Sorry I didn’t know what I was talking about in video.
6:58 Drew passes privateer celebrity content creator and UCI American-style gravel ambassador Dylan Johnson
Really enjoyed the voiceover, good stuff man!
as someone who has been watching your videos since day 1 or so I really like your format. it original and make your channel different. this was fun to listen and watch but please keep what you do best!!!
Cool vid man, wow hard riding out there!!!! Congrats on your ride Bro and glad you finished strong!! 😊
Man I love your silent commentary videos (the goat) but man I was laughing my butt off hahaha
Great job on the video. You are moving in the right direction
Thank you for your brilliant video I enjoyed reliving life at the pointy end and the pleasure of passing people 😊
First vid I've seen of yours and the voiceover was on point. Not too much, just right. The re-assess when it all goes sideways is a great trait. Keep it up, man.
Thanks. Appreciate it.
awesome, loved the voice over, big fan of the old format already due to your awesome recordings/edit but this really enhances the experience for me anyway.
Sik edit dude, I love your thought process! Dat crash
Love the voice over, best video yet.
Another great vid! In road racing I quickly learned to identify the wheels you DON'T want to be behind. Seems this is even more important for gravel. Hope to do my first gravel race in the spring and these vids are teaching me a lot!
Awesome!

The way you said detonated is the spirit of gravel. FWIW, I like the voiceover.
Love the voiceover dizzle
incredible coverage and commentary! gnarly as hell at the start. ya'll are wild.
This race is on my bucket list. Love the video.
More voice overs!!! Good job on completely smoking Dylan Johnson haha!! Very very nice ride
Drew! What an awesome video! Took me back to Wisconsin racing! You are a beast!
You are awesome! I LOVE the voice over it really makes the video even better! A++++ Al the Best!
Nice work! I like the voice commentary, but I also like the text/graphics, add your funny graphics and text along with your commentary! Best of both worlds.
Love the voice over brah
Great ride! Loved the video recap. I hope you get into the LTGP next year. With your crit and CX skills I think you'll do well. Good Luck!
Lets go! Awesome video. I tend to agree that your previous style of video was cool and unique but also, do what ya want! Still just enjoying the race footage and breakdowns in general. Nice race man!
awesome video and great voice over! we really NEED you in the Lifetime Grandprix next year against Dylan! Plz make it happen!
Getting into LTGP isn’t in Drew’s control - Kimo and Lifetime make that call.
You're mindset is so perfect. Roll with the punches and get after it. Great video
Great vid. Getting me stoked for 2024!!
Great job man! And nice recovery from the crash. Always when I crash Im really scared for at least a few days and you just go right on. Great inspiration.
The BEST way to start the day
I wish I could do your numbers. Super impressed with your performance, attitude, and the video
Love the voice over!! Thou I did like your other race videos as well.

Agreed. I like the other way better.
You have a great narrator's voice/delivery so happy with both approaches.
Dizzle my nizzle quickly becoming the goat of American gravel racing
Funny.
The voice over makes the video much more interesting!
One of the better POV videos. Thanks for the coverage. Liked the narration. And you're thumbnail does not lie .. sketchy, yes! Hope race organizers are watching these vids too. Gravel races look like crits at the beginning at least. Is that what they want?
I felt the spirit of gravel mad, 😂 great video, this race was a lot of fun. I’ll take note of your race and tryout for the longer course next time.
Appreciate the commentary!
I think the Junior Ntl Champ has every right to wear that jersey...
But what if the national champ was there too?
Yeah I mean it’s an unsanctioned gravel race…without specific starts for every category…so when should the junior get to wear the nats jersey or did they need to just start somewhere else? Kind lame IMO to waste the time to call out the kid but whatevs lol.

I love the voice over. Really takes the video to the next level
Voice over makes this video a 10/10. I was really pulling for you to finish ahead of Dylan 😂
The voice of the people finally
Good job getting the content out. And nice race
Yes, he should be wearing the jersey
I want both Voice and Graphics! This is GREAT!
Great footage and commentary.
Great video and commentary
Watching this back and listing to bonk, you've got DJ right where you want him. He's very prideful right now and he's also going to ride Big sugar on mtb tires, and you'll surprise him!
It was great riding with you. Starky
Yo. Thanks man!
Great video and nice race!
The guy in the Toyota kit is Matt Beers he is the South african Gravel champ
I figured it out after the video.
And a previous guest on the cast. After Cape Epic diarrhea..
Awesome video! Voiceover makes it great!
I liked the voiceover
We appreciate the voicer over 🙏
Awesome recap
Great video Dizzle! The voice over definitely is better. LTGP would be silly not to accept you next year. If not how else could we keep track of the more important (and entertaining) competition between you and Dylan?
Thanks! Sure appreciate that!
Yes on the voice over.
Incredible riding. Do many riders use old school rubber tire liners to help prevent flats?
No
Voice over was great!
Toyota dude is Matt Beers lol
The voiceover was awesome. There was a lot of really chunky gravel on that course.

Now we are talking! Voiceover 👍😎
Dude I liked your cartoon/subtitle format. It was like an anime but actually interesting. Ignore the nerds who complained - I hope they bonk.
Yes what he said some voice plus cartoon/subtitles would be great!
That start among cars and bikes is pretty crappy even gravel! The spirit is a little different when you racing a motorcycle! LOL.

1:52 CRIT LIFE forever 😎!
Where is the music coming from? Is there a band following you guys?
I so much better now that there’s a voiceover. Good vid!
given the people what they want!!! we also want some turn bars and power slides in the next video!!!
🤣

Very insightful. Even more dangerous than I'd imagined. In so many ways gravel racing makes very little sense.
good video. I'm surprised no one was taken out by a car
F’ing 1by!
At about min 9:05 there are people walking their bikes up the road, it did not look 20%, was something up or did they really have the wrong gears?
I didn't mind the text on screen. But you've got a good relaxing voice
I like the other way better.
Were those Elite/Pros walking their bikes at 9:01 ? Now I don't feel so bad that I had to walk a couple times.
Yea. I think it was. Ha
Voiceover is MUCH better. Subscribed
Glad you like it. Thanks!
does the voiceover mean the end of bitmojis??
Digging the voiceover! Do you do any specific training for your gravel races vs crits or xc?
Just more volume.
no chain guide? Bradyn Lange had the wolf tooth gnarwolf on his bike.
I had the rock in the shifter thing happen to me at the Ohio State gravel championships in 2022. Really frustrating.
Yep. Frustrated that it was a 2sec fix but took me 2min to figure out.
Hey Drew. I'm impressed with your skills on gravel. Passing people left and right. Obviously good power also!
Yeah Drew you have some of BALLS ⚽️
What is the software you’re using for stats breakdowns?
Just TrainingPeaks.
Well, you didn't beat DJ but you out sprinted PS. Hero in my book.
Aw shucks.
Why is no one in the drops in that initial peloton 😬
Man the front looks stressful. The pace is so high and no really looks super comfortable in the corners. Those power numbers are spicy!
Yea. Eventually it whittles down and gets a lot safer.
Got to bring back the cartoon Dizzle with text. Great video by the way.
Yep. I am. That’s my style for sure.
"I miss the bitmoji commentary" -perpetually unhappy Drew Dillman stan
I miss the Dizzle cartoons . . . 🙃 Tough to go down after the chain drop and zig zagging your way back up to the front. That course looked Chunky Monkey! Chapeau for not giving up and posting a solid result! Top 3 at BWR Mexico and you're a lock for the '24 LT GP! 😜 Good luck!
Dizzle do shizzle
What's 180 as a percentage of max HR, that seems really high for such a long time
That’s 90% for me.
The delivery rider foot hang
Saw you have to pull over and get off on Werner's video, was wondering what happened.
Definitely liked the voice over better.
Interesting to see the average heart rate at 174. I recently did about a 2 hr TT with average HR of 171. I was glad to see someone else with HR on the high end. I’m 63
Yea. That’s high for 63 for sure but HR is very individual. I’m 29, for what it’s worth.
@@DrewDillmanChannel thanks for responding. I just had an echocardiogram stress test and the doc said there are no issues so nothing to worry about I guess. As you say, everyone is different but I am just curious about the why ? Some rarely get above 140…..
This is what gravel racing looks like? Why am I not doing this?
The bike photos 😬
I thought you passed DJ? What happened?
Man got some growth mindset right there - just keep on keeping on 🙌
