Good race. I was already thinking to myself, "not sure if I would try to outsprint the guy who towed me in", and then you expressed the same feeling. Good on you.
Well done Sir! I can see how your inner Spirit of Gravel led you to eternal wisdom already (esp. near the finish line. Kum ba Yah Mothertrucker! Best U.S. Gravel Nationals Influencer performance I have ever witnessed.
Nice race and hope you had fun. Good that you knew about those little gullies after the descent around mile 100. I saw you pre-riding that section on Friday when we were signing the course and it was a good place to surge like you did. Also our apologies for that car lost on the course there. Wasn't the only one in that section 🤷♂
great video! Gravel in US is so different fro gravel in Sweden. Your roads are straight and wide like your tarmac roads. Ours is tighter and winding. Look forward to see you're next video.
Yea. The US is so big it just depends on what state you’re in. Definitely a lot of narrow windy roads as well. Sweden sounds like a good place for a gravel race though!
Really enjoyed your video at USA Gravel National! Love the wide openness of the area!! I was suppose to be there but Gravel Worlds in Lincoln messed me up!! Adam S is my coach this season! Congrats on your top 15 finish, very impressive.
Before the graphic text went up at the end I was thinking "this sure looks like he's intentionally losing the wheel as credit for towing the whole final section". Incredible effort, a lot of very fast names behind you.
Great vid!!! Bit different from BWR Utah eh! Was curious about the course and looks like a pure gravel smash session so might head out next year. Must have been tough to lose out to those Pathfinders :) but solid ride and very pro behavior. Chapeau Monsieur Dizzle!
Great video. Fantastic riding. Is it the spirit of gravel, or just good sportsmanship...? I prefer the latter (as I'd do the same in whatever mode of racing I'm doing!)
dont pull till you get tired. go to the front have a set time to stay there. then come off. ideally the rea guy sghould pull through, corners are great point foor that. againNEVER PULL UNTILL YOU GET TIRED.
Mmmmm bold statement but I suppose we are 2-1 now, you cali BWR and this, myself utah.. I’ll have to see if I can even the score come BWR Kansas 😅 Nice race though! Spencer was looking super strong in our group nice way to hang on to him!
I just looked up the registration cost, for age grouper it was $329. That is by far the most expensive bicycle race I've ever seen. What did participants get for that price?
Am I reading this correct, over 300 big ones to enter a national championship? Don’t the riders kinda feel a little ripped off? I mean for that kid if money the whole route should be marshalled and no cars on course and cows should be getting milk during racing hours… I hope USA Cycling send you guys something for Christmas! 👀🤭
@@DrewDillmanChannel even 180 bucks seems really steep to me. When I've done USA Triathlon Sprint nationals, even if you signed up late the price was only like $160, if you signed up the earliest it would be $95. And that was a really well run event. for sports I kind of go back and forth between cycling and triathlon 😎.
loved the video, i've been watching some of joe's videos lately also, question, judging by the "choose the hard way" vlog you did, is there much happening with US CX racing this year ?
Not much. It’s still happening but I think less and less people are focusing on CX for racing. At least in the US. Most of the sponsors and money are in other disciplines right now.
I have no idea what this "Spirit of gravel" stuff is, but it makes me chuckle anyways. What do you prefer, Crit, or gravel races? Thanks for another great video Drew. Always look forward to the next one. Take care! God bless!
Spirit of gravel is a goofy thing that people talk about in the gravel racing scene. It’s weird. Haha. And honestly I’m split between the 2. Love them both. Which do you prefer watching?
@@DrewDillmanChannel I had to look it up, because my curiosity was piqued. Yep, it's weird. Lol I watched a 5 minute video of a guy describing, while mocking "the spirit of gravel". It all sounds a bit too hippie for me. I enjoy them both, along with other disciplines. Crit, is the newest to me and I don't do any road riding (there's only a couple paved roads where I live). So, that's what grabs my attention the most, at the moment.
Finally an upload on the event… I was hoping to see all this action. Great weather and super power field, you seemed very confident before the race on the distance, how did you feel around 80 miles? That attack that Miller pit in so a huge effort and you still managed to follow, I think if your positioning would have been better when the big move went you’d have been in that front group. You also did a lot moving around on the sketchy stuff, I reckon some 42 would have been better as an overall choice. What was your overall impression of the course and did they announce where it will be in 2024? Thanks for the upload and bringing us closer to your experience.
Yea. I felt good about distance. Just wasn’t ready for such a hard effort so early in the race when I got gapped from lead group. But when I talked to Lance Haidet after the race, sounds like I probably could have hung in that group had I stayed there early on. 40s felt fine from what I could tell.
Good race. I was already thinking to myself, "not sure if I would try to outsprint the guy who towed me in", and then you expressed the same feeling. Good on you.
Another banger of a video. Two awesome races in a row. Great work
Thanks!
Love the spirit of letting Spencer tinish ahead at the end! I would have done the same👏. Great vid!
Was an honor to ride those cross winds with you. Your attack through the 2 -track section popped the cork :l
Yea. Really wished there was more tech sections. Fun riding with you too man.
Well done Sir! I can see how your inner Spirit of Gravel led you to eternal wisdom already (esp. near the finish line. Kum ba Yah Mothertrucker!

That’s a mouth full. But I’ll take it. Haha.
these are great motivational videos when stuck indoors on the trainer, especially the sound tracks

I thought it was fine. I thought it was an open road race? Haha.

Man I freakin love Dizzle's videos.
Alright alright alright!

loved the commentary
Well done and great video,again..I love it.
Thanks!
Nice call on the finish.

Good job !

nice one! This is SOOOOOO much better than Dylan's stuff.
Cool video thanks for sharing. Curious, did you tell him you weren't going to sprint against him? Also what tires did you run?
Great job! Next time I’m at a gravel race, I’ll be sure to fist bump anyone with a mustache.
Absolutely. I have a beard. I’ll fist bump anyone and every one.
That’s @thankgravelitsfriday filming at 9 and 13.25 minutes! 😂
I agree. he pulled you the last 15 miles. you did the right thing....but if it had been for podium....let the games begin...

It’s a click-bait title. Seems to help the views. Haha. I hate doing it, but it works.
Awesome video. What literally does "#1er" mean?
I just looked up the registration cost, for age grouper it was $329. That is by far the most expensive bicycle race I've ever seen. What did participants get for that price?
A bar bag, 2 numbers and the race. Haha. Keegan Swenson got 12k.
@@DrewDillmanChannel yeah I won't be doing that race at that kind of price 🙂.

Dizzle appreciate the video and the bonk bros podcast! Did you know that you beat PlayinBikes by 3 hours at Nats?
Yea. I was waiting for him at the award ceremony. Haha. His wife actually helped me out in the feed zone.
I don’t care what Dylan says, I’m getting a pair of Challenge tires!!! 😀
Dude. I like em!
Looks like you and Spencer need to duke it out at next years DustBowl100 since you both are past winners!
Yea. I was thinking the same thing. Ha
Why all the white shoes white socks…??
Wasn’t the memo sent out?
Was that Lance Haidet twerking on his bike at the start of the race?😂

Why run knobby tires for these surfaces?
On such a bizarre sandy course I'm guessing you lost 10 minutes by running 40mm tires instead of 45!
Oh stop!
He's a pod listener 😅
45? Only acceptable tyre is Pathfinder 47 ;)
@@hanneshertach8013 Pathfinder *Pro* 47 🤓
I love the pathfinders , I'm really liking the 700x 42 Sawtooths I'm running now , they surprised me how fast and grippy they are
Your hand healed from the fracture?
For the most part. It was a bit sore at the end of the race but that’s probably normal.
Imagine how fast you would have been if you had run the Pathfinder 47s
🤦♂️
Please tell me some cx content is coming!!!
Yes. But not a lot. 🤷♂️
Mannn, these gravel races are soooo boring. I hope people come around to cx and short track racing at some point
Do podium placers in these national champs races get drug tested in the U.S.?
Yes. I believe so.
So keegan showed up
Yep. To collect his 12k check. Hard to pass that up.
My Bloks is only 47 grams?
gravel, where u can dope with no one checking.
Fast is fun...until it isn't...gotta LOL...
