Glad you did an honest review/comparison. When they did the skeletor SB last year, i saw several online reviews by people claiming they were 1:1 and identical to the OG, which they clearly weren't. I bought a pair so i could compare it to my retail one and they were vastly different. Im fine if people want to buy reps, but having people falsely endorse them as "identical" is a disservice to everyone.
Yeah, I don't get that..it makes no sense to me. Why lie about and mislead people. There is plenty of differences on the skeletors too, I did comparison a few months ago. The DB pair does look good but not identical to original release.
I'm going to stick with my 2015's, I love DB's line of 85s, but the vibrancy of that blue portrayed in the original has to be captured, otherwise it doesn't hit the same.
Those are begging for some foxtrot laces. Great review OG as always. Vintage treatment looks spot on. It is really important the Vintage treatment is not overly done and in my opinion it looks like just enough was done on your pair! Going forward this company is going to be producing another version of the 1985 retro aj1 with premium leather as an alternative option. I think this is going to be a game changer for many who have been asking and begging for this from the brand developer boring states that it's going to resemble the OG pairs the real 1985 pairs in quality of leather and thickness I cannot wait! Keep up the great work always a fan of your Channel and look forward to the future.
Yeah, I agree the vintage finish looks natural and on point. When I shop vintage laces, I prefer HVND for price and quality. The trot sent me a pair a minute ago and stained my tongues, no thanks lol

It doesn't look bad but I'm actually going to use a white paint pen like I did on my black infrared 6 if you saw my post on IG. The dye I think darkened it a bit more.
These are really nice. But I passed on them because I felt like the colorway on their sample was closer to the OG. Still think it looks really nice however. I’m really interested to see how the Shadows will look since they seem to improve with every colorway
@@ogorbust1697 I like the shade, a lot. They didn’t have a University Blue In 85-86 did they ? I don’t remember seeing that even on AF1 mid to late 80s boxes.
The powder blue is the truer Pantone versus uni/baby blue, despite the fact that we correlate this colorway with Mike’s time at UNC. My Koston SB 1 lows are for sure powder blue and not Uni’ /baby blue. That said - I actually think Uni blue looks great, maybe even better? Hard to call. Those laces are dope. This video, and all of your content thus far is really solid. Keep it coming dude. I’m stoked on it. Love that toebox shape on the Borings. It’s👌🏼🔥

I was born in 74 so I played middle school ball In 8th grade in the I got early 86 …. our school colors were a little lighter of a “baby” but was perfect timing so I kept fresh for season & was use to traction of AF1s, & it was good, but there’s nothing like a Jordan one on the hardwood. I swore I was MJ. lol
For me I just can’t do it, the dark edges on the leather really ruin the vibe imo. Maybe it’s the shape being visually broken up into segments by the dark edges vs the shape of the shoe as a whole. Sick review!

Hey man, I just bought a pair of 1985 UNC's (not the DB one's), and I have a question about the swoosh. Is it also supposed to be vinyl like the Chicago's? Paying for the aging service is a huge miss here. They just look pissed on. Hell, your 85 UNC pair is really white and barely aged at all. So I don’t understand the point of pre-aging a product when they will age FAR better than any dye/marker can do.
The DB oxidation is heavier but like I mentioned in the video I bleached my OG laces that were more yellowed and cleaned midsole with magic eraser etc. The yellowing is pretty much same as vrls midsoles. I think it looks cool, not doing it on all pairs but was curious how these would look
these DB JORDAN 1 are definitely beautiful when it comes to the cuts , shape , materials, etc.. i Just had today that u are so NIT PICKEY of other shoes on ur vids, even the littlest things u point out you totally destroy the details lol how r u not more upset that the fact they couldn’t even get close to the actual shade of UNC blue. There’s Such a big difference, any other shoe u would be like “ the brand can’t even get the shade right “ blah blah blah. ..as I've mentioned before also with OG 1s depending the factory the colors of blue, red etc are different. My royals were two completely different shades. With OGs there is wiggle room with shades of color but yes, these are lighter for sure than any other OG factory. DB strives for improvements with each release unlike jordan brand and that's the frustrating part when they have more than enough resources in archives and of course the budget. As I've said before JB, will fix one thing and mess up another 2 details that were fine on previous retros.. that's why I'm a hard critic on the brand at times. Other times they have some great releases.. they should ALWAYS be striving to improve each release which we see with a lot of custom makers but not Jordan Brand.
