    Noyce! I have a 1973 Bay Window 1.7 ltr engine. Just got it as a Daddy Daughter project!

    What about showing how to connect and set the meters up i rekin there's heaps who wouldn't know how to use them.

      Mileage Unknown I hear ya, I’d love to have a bus also. But the bug is so much more fun to drive and I don’t camp enough due to the heat to justify only having a bus 🤷‍♂️

      The engine will also sound/work better with IDF'S. 😁

      It ran really well with the ICT’s but there is more top end and a tad more umph with the IDF’s.

    Thanks Gary thinking of putting a the type 4 back in Kermit and one of the things I was wondering about was how to wire the Alternator I probably could have figured it out but it’s great to have a video to reference

      It’s pretty easy, just match the wires from the back of the alternator to the regulator.

    Thank you for the video. My van has been sitting for 15 years. Changed battery and oil , oil filter, turns but no start. Any ideas?

      Check for power at the coil, check for spark and fuel.
      Should start if those all check out unless there’s no compression.

    Hi Gary, I got a 76 bus same like this one, with the same problem, I took out the alternario to get fix and they said it was good , so a change the regulator and still having the same problem, the battery won’t last nothing, same problem like this one…

      @@joseaquino8178 make sure the alternator dash light works. The alternator won’t charge if the light isn’t working.
      Or you could have gotten a bad regulator

    May I ask which colored wire on the regulator you connected your test meter to? Thanks

      Should be the red power wire from the alternator.

    I also have the same van but it's super busted and I have no idea what I'm doing. The main problem is.. well I think everything underneath but I'm not sure. I really wanna fix it up but it's just me and my wife.

      I’d suggest seeing if there’s a local club that you can be part of and tap into their knowledge…. It’s much easier when we all pool our knowledge together.

      @@VWJawbreaker it's all in and together..i just gotta put in some gas lol. I plan on messing with it later today..going to check my brake adjusters and hope my headlights come in today.
      I noticed that on my dash..the oil & alternator light stopped coming on when you turn the key.. It did once recently but then stopped again

      Definitely need to get the oil and alternator lights working..... if the alternator light on the dash doesn’t work the alternator won’t charge.

    love the channel, question on that breather fitting to the carb, how far down into the air cleaner does that elbow go and how do you have it secured ? plastic nut or just thread in the fitting?
    any pictures of that?

      Thanks man, appreciate you being here.
      The hose fitting on the carb is the plastic one that comes with the air cleaners I believe. Just a hole in the lid and the fitting has a plastic nut on the bottom.

    Over voltage 16 to 18 so
    Its come smoke

      Haha, yeah that’s not something I want to do over just for video purposes! It does get a little easier each time you do it, this is the 3rd one I’ve done over the last few years.

      @@VWJawbreaker good job on the repair. seeing the smoke coming out of the alternator was priceless.i'm glad you got that in the vid. my only t4 repair was to put a muffler on a '75 914 way back in about 1985. what's cool about that repair is that for a fee i bartered a day with the car. in that day, i realized that i like my beetles more than the sporty stuff including ghias.

      That’s really cool you were able to barter, that’s how I got the other car!
      I agree with you, issues are cool and practical however I like the sporty ness of a bug. They are more fun to drive imo.
