Definitely want a bus someday. I haven't told you this yet but I was originally from Long Island New York. My parents moved me out to the West Coast in a 67 split window. We made four or five trips back and forth to New York in that van. Awesome memories even though I was very young.
Wow your head was close to that roof! Somehow I thought there would be more headroom in the buses. Nice carbs!! I ran the 34s, but not the 40s...yet. Enjoyed the ride!! Nice job! And nice looking puppy!
He put Jeep seats in the bus, that could have contributed to my tallness 😂 He was running 34’s but wanted the 40’s on it to see if they would preform better. Thanks for coming along and my crack head dog says hi 😂
VWJAWBREAKER I got some seats coming, I think I sent you photos. They appear like they’re going to sit lower they will be here today thankfully. I like when you do the ride along‘s, that is just awesome. I’m sure the 40s did make quite a difference. Your dog looks cool!
Got the Sundial running with the 1835.. It sounds mean with the stinger. It rips also. I will make a video before and after carb sync. Just took it around the block a couple times after breaking in cam. Going to dial it in with AEM wideband.. my camcorder wont power up ( thank you customs ) but I will borrow one to make my first video.. The bus sounds awesome, ty for another great video.
Excellent Gary, thanks for the boys shout out, name wrong though 😂 Noah was well chuffed. Them carbs are sweet as. Hopefully my engine will be in at the weekend. The tone of that bus is awesome. Rob’s lucky to have you sorting it.
Sorry for messing up his name but I’m glad he’s happy! Your engine is looking good man, fingers crossed it goes in this weekend and it goes well for you!
It's funny I thought I noticed the carbs being different at the end of the alternator vid! Man your mic is so much better then mine for engine audio! maybe it's time for me to change equipment! Great vid as always!
Haha, never been big into video games so I would probably be the last to know. Glad I caught the smoke on camera, it’s definitely something you see everyday. Stay safe and healthy buddy.

I do not think you could choke them down enough to get them to properly work. You might be able to get a set of Kads to work on it. I’d contact Kaddy Shack and ask them.
Yep, Type4's really wake up with a mild cam and a well set up dual 40IDF's - money save from not buying big bore kits & stroker cranks can pay for dual 40IDF's and a decent mild cam.
@@VWJawbreaker That make another big difference that would wake this 2L up even more. Happy chat with you about choosing an ideal cam for a 2L (the big name brands in the T1 world don't makes the best for Type4's :)
I measured the fuel pressure from his pump and it was at 2.5 psi. I run a regulator on my bug and found that the Holley fuel pressure regulator has been the best bang for the buck. They make a low pressure and a high pressure one, get the low pressure one of course.
Hi Gary, I’m itching to get a set of these now after your fitment here. Quick question if I may, mine has the metal rod bar that pivots from the transmission and goes through the tin up to the PDSIT crossbar. How hard , if I installed these would it be to get the Webber linkage working, did you put a cable in to replace the steel rod
This bus didn’t have the steel pivot rod when I installed these carbs. It looks like someone added a piece of cable to lengthen the throttle cable so the crossbar linkage would hook up like a beetle would. The other option would be to get a longer throttle cable possibly? Just a thought.
VWJAWBREAKER , cheers for that Gary, I’m going to have a play about sometime this week, the circlip and spring off my linkage shot off somewhere, pass where they went, even swang a magnet to see if I could find them
There’s a lot of factors that go into how fast your fuel tank will empty. I know a guy with a 1976 westy fully loaded down, solar, etc and gets 25-26mpg with his 2L setup.
Please, add more driving video's about this bus. The bus is still a classic!
It was a friends bus that I was working on.
Those carbs look mean sittin there 🔥🔥
That they do!
Slurp-Slurps!

Thanks JC, I love the fact he’s still very involved.
Me and dad recently finished restoring ours- gotta love the way these things drive!

Love the bus. The colour and the way it sounds , usual campervan gear shift 😂

Part of me wishes I could, however I really enjoy driving beetles over buses.

Sounds friggen awesome we know the shift bushing feeling lol it can be a real pain sometimes

Great video, thanks
Funny thing is, the shifter bushings have been replaced lol
the bracket could be worn out
Greg Logan most likely but I didn’t look at it since it wasn’t on his to-do list.

Definitely doing the dual carb setup next!! Great video man!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Dual carbs aren’t always the answer, all depends on the engine setup and the type of driving you’ll be doing.

Any chance of you taking the bus down a bumpy road without hitting your head.

Bus shifting sucks and tall guys don’t fit well in busses without modifications.... but she runs great! 🤷♂️😂
