    I took off water pump and left crankshaft pulley on. I was able to lift engine out on 2000 echo without transaxle. Thank you!

    While watching you tackling those header bolts, the thought ran though my head "man, stuff' s so much easier to work on in Cali. Up here in Canada, those header bolts alone would've been a 'try everything you have n end up having to oxyacetalene them off at a local shop kinda situation.'"
    So yeah. I'm just a little jealous lol. But you did a great job, and FAST. I gotta get out of this frozen sh*thole.
    *Edit - for those that don't know what I'm on about... RUST. Rust is the problem. It's plenty warm atm. But the damned rust... Fml

    appreciate the time you took to post this video, i'm planning to do an engine swap from a salvage car thats an automatic in to a 5 speed, was wondering if there are any differences in tuning and if everything will bolt up.

      The car didn’t need any tuning, everything worked fine. Mine was a auto to auto, so I am not too sure if you need any more parts for the auto to manual .

      Through the hole on the block on the exhaust side, don’t remember where I put it on the other side. When my niece come by, I will have to look at it and see.

    Im in the middle of my swap i reconnected the engine with the transmission housing bolts and when i use a socket to turn the pulley to turn the flywheel to line it up it wont turn any help would be grateful ???

      You might have to separate the engine from the transmission and make sure everything is free, it’s always a good idea to make sure you can turn the engine before securing it to the transmission.

      @@Jbpgarage thank you everything bolted fine no gaps only thing i noticed was the flywheel seemed like it was too far forward like it was touching the outside housing where you can see it through the starter hole??? Any advice would be great

      @@RangerGoose1971 that’s your problem, the torque converter came out, you have to push it back in .

    My Toyota Yaris has a 1.5 engine and I want to swap it for a 1.8 engine model 2ZR-FE . Could you please help me to get the engine mounts for the engine 2ZR-FE to be installed in my Yaris 2007 ?

    Im doing the same, but my fly wheel aligns but it wont seal close, do u know what’s wrong?

      Did you make sure you pushed the torque converter all the way in before installing the engine. They come out a little sometimes.

    Excellent brotha, would I need the ECU for the engine I drop in? The engine on my sisters car is losing slight compression and consuming oil. The cylinders are worn, it's running fine other then oil consumption.

      No, you don’t need to charge anything except the engine.

    Great job! Thank you for sharing, I learned a lot. I am currently swapping out engine on 2000 toyota echo A//T. Service Manual says trans and engine need to come out together. Do you know if Echo is the same as Yaris regarding removing engine without taking out transmission. I am going to give it a try this weekend and hope engine comes out ok. Thanks again.

      There is about an inch between water pump pulley and unibody. Will this be enough space to pull away and up from the A/T.

      Hey did you end up removing them together? Considering doing this job soon on my echo. Although I plan on changing transmission too I’m just interested to see what happened with you

      Anything is possible, but I am not sure if it’s a direct swap.

      Okay thanks wanted to try that with a complete 1nz engine (engine wiring gearbox,,,) because 1.3l is bit weak for long distance, did research the three mountains will fit, because I saw the car you were doing engine swap is same as mine, is there any difference between vios, yaris and belta?

      Thanks, open gas cap, let it sit a couple of hours. Then remove the line, shouldn’t leak much.

      @@peachyclean93 not necessarily a common problem, this one was neglected. I do know belt noise is a common problem on this model.

    Good call on the locktite. Nobody likes a flywheel coming off lol. That could make for a bad day. 🙃

      Yeah, It’s always a good idea to use locktite on bolts you don’t want coming loose.

    I literally want to do the exact same swap I’m wondering by any chance what was needed to complete the swap “part” wise was it only the “ engine “ like literally JUST THE ENGINE ? Or … are motor mounts n harnesses (ect) needed ?

      Yeah, just the engine. But if you like, it will be a time to replace the plugs, belt and do an oil change as well .

    I just bought into an echo at 293k for a very good price.
    Now I’m thinking about engine swapping, possibly swapping auto tranny while I’m at it.
    I’m going to be in such debt with this aren’t I?

    great video, i am in the process of doing something similar soon. i just want to ask, was the engine being held on with two engine mounts other than also being attached to the transmission for extra support?

      Yes, so you want to support the engine and transmission before removing the mount.

    Lol my yaris just blew a headgasket.... That description makes me want to cringe. not sure if i should trying replacing the gasket or find another motor.

      No, this was the 1.5L engine.
