Most of what Moira became was created by O'Hara. They gave her almost complete creative freedom to build the character. She was responsible for the wigs, the accent and the unusual words she liked to inject into the scenes. They obviously knew how amazing she is but I think she really knocked it out of the park and somehow managed to tap into the perfect character for the audience to fall in love with.

"Home Alone" is one of those movies you can watch any time of year and enjoy it. I last watched it on New Year's Eve 2014 with my sister's family and we laughed ourselves senseless. My niece- who was eleven when she first watched the movie- was laughing herself silly when Marv (Daniel Stern) screamed in horror with that tarantula on his face.
I love Catherine O'Hara even more knowing the wigs were her idea ❤ now I know from having a nana who wore wigs, that all the wigs in wigs catalogs do in fact have ladies names! Just another aspect of this show that is so on point and funny.
I love this video, and the attitude behind wearing the wigs - it's about how the make you feel, not just how they make you look - reminds me of an older friend who was diagnosed with cancer about 15 years ago. While she was undergoing treatment, understanding that she would likely lose her hair, she, my mum and their friend went to a wig shop. They had a HILARIOUS afternoon - it's still one of my mother's favourite memories of her friend, even during a truly devastating time, they spent the entire day laughing, trying on wigs. The irony is, she never lost her hair! But my mum always has that memory of laughing with her friends - because of wigs.
I've dearly loved Catherine O'Hara ever since the early SCTV days...and I always will! All of the Schitt's Creek cast and episodes have been as good as it gets...I'll sorely miss it after the final season...why can't just a few good things last forever!

I started wearing wigs because of _The Americans_ and _Schitt's Creek._ My own hair is very straight and I really can't be bothered to do anything to it as far as styling, so having a few fun wigs to throw on saves me time and damage to my real hair.
