Its so frustrating, and really strange to me, that Creature Commandos is not available at all in the UK. Its like they are pushing people to the pirate life
Honestly I’m not mad that they’re not integrating Rob’s Batman and letting Reeves do his grounded Batman. I think this is going to be the best Trilogy of Batman by far especially if they take the court of owls route. If they wanna have a fantastical Gotham for the main DCU. Cool. But, I wanna see Matt Reeves do his vision justice. Plus he’s only year two and The Batman Part 2 is supposed to take place immediately after the penguin or just some months after. To force a script and possibly push part two out like 10 years later or something to make it all work would just be stupid. Give Reeves the freedom to do this right just make it an “elseworld” thing.

Making Lanterns an Earth-based detective drama is clearly a choice. But Damon Lindelof is co-writing, so it might be good. Plus, Aaron Pierre was great in Rebel Ridge and is perfect to play John Stewart.

Why did Reeves announced that the script was done then? He did it before the penguin even premiered and there was even casting calls late last year. Then Gunn hastily tweeted their is no script and gutted Reeves films by taking two series and Banning Scarecrow & Clayface. Gunn even called it a delay.
flannigan's clayface is confirmed to be dcu, and there are more than one clayfaces in the comics, so the one that showed up in creature commandos could just be a diff one

So far everything Gunn's done is just Guardians with different characters. I'm tired of the quippy/jokey. Marvel has already run that into the ground. The best thing DC could do is find more visionary writer/directors like Reeves and let them make great movies without the constraints. As soon as you try to tie everything into a shared universe, it just gets stupid and the scripts get ruined by directives to set up other franchises and force crossovers. I don't trust Gunn to not screw this up just as bad as Snyder did.
Please have Batman move around like Arkham Batman, similar to how Batfleck was. That Batman vs Deathstroke fight with Arkham type speed, NEEDS to happen. That Arkham Origins trailer with them fighting in the snow is still the coolest Batman fight ever. I also hope Slade is the main villain of the Teen Titans and Robin is a certified crashout just like the 2003 cartoon one that everyone loves!

I think even just the focus of the bat-family for the DCU vs the Crime family aspect of the Reeves verse would be enough to let these interpretations stand on their own side by side. I only hope that in the DCU, Damien isn't given some sort of special treatment or focus as Batman's "real" son. Bruce works as a father figure to the entire bat-family.
Clayface potentially being a dark horror film isn't reason enough for it to be an Elseworlds. Gunn has reiterated multiple times that the DCU will have a variety of tones and genres. The idea isn't for lighter stories to be DCU and more grounded and darker stories to be Elseworlds. The DCU should conceivably have both. Also, Swamp Thing was stated to be DCU from the very beginning in the slate reveal video along with press releases, you guys just weren't paying attentnion

I view the matt reeve movies as ideal prequel films. Im a huge batman and dc fan I love the 70-80s batman comics and morrison stuff etc and I think robert pattinson is the ideal batman and its gotham is very close to the comics. Batman comics are generally more grounded and it would be fun to see robert pattinson in his 5th year in the justice league with david corenswets superman

IMO the fantastical Batman should be be equal parts Detective and Ninja. Thats the iconic Batman. @SosaDBZ Part 2 takes place shortly after the The Batman and The Penguin which take place in 2022. Creature Commandos takes place in 2023-2024 referencing events from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker which took place on 2022. 2022 would be Batman's SECOND YEAR in crime fighting which is an issue because Crime Commandos confirms DCU Batman has been active for at least 15 to 20 years. Not to mention how the Clayface movie will most likely make it make less sense.
I mean, if you look at it my way, there have been comics where Detective Batman turns into fantastical, and during both shows, "The Batman" and "The Penguin," both were Batman's first two years. Gordon already had ties with him, set down before the actual movie, 15 years later wouldn't be a surprise if Batman was more bulky, Gotham was down or upgraded (probably down, Bruce doesn't spend his money on the right things) and metahumans are more potent. 🤷♂

Phosphorus was not touched by his wife for 15 years, and he was caught years after his rampage as a criminal kingpin in Gotham. So, after his wife died, count 15 years,we never really know when Batman became Batman, he is not old.
i mean judging from the interview you can see matt sticks into what he really want which is to focus on this crime saga tale and not combining it with the DCU but just like all of us, we don't know what the future holds
I feel like we are gonna find out in a few years and learn that Gunn’s “reconsideration” of putting Reeves Batman in the DCU is really Warner pushing for it after the success of the Penguin.
I'm open to Rob being the DCU Batman but when he shows up its like a more mature and already introduced Batman. Have the Reeves movies be the origin of the character. The only problem is that would confuse audiences who dont know any better but overall it would make sense comic-wise cause that's what batman did in his first few years, cleaned up gotham. I'd be fine either way if we get an already established Batman that's written like Batman.
Um... Swamp Thing was announced to be part of th DCU. I thought that was obvious. I don't know why you guys thought it was Elseworlds. I couldn't think of any character that makes more sense in a chapter called Gods and Monsters, as he is basically both.
Going through that huge list of movies and series coming up seems daunting as hell. Like they have a long long ways to go for some of them and I really wonder how much will come to be. I know the studios have to have some kind of timeline of what they plan on doing but going that many years out is a bit nuts. Go year by year and don't announce anything till you now FOR SURE it's gonna be a thing and work out.

I don’t see why Gunn can’t integrate Pattinson into his DCU. Gunn’s Batman has been Batman for over a decade, Matt Reeves’s Batman has been around for only 2 years, his whole trilogy could take place before Gunn’s Superman ever becomes Superman. And Pattinson has a young face for being almost 40, he could play both a young and older Bruce Wayne.
I wonder if Will Pattison could pull off playing 2 different versions of Batman, a grounded but gritty realistic Reevesverse Batman then a more comic book accurate Batman in the DCU. Doubtful but interesting concept.

Rob Patt is 38, he's going to be 45 when they make Batman 3. It's easy, say Bruce got Talia pregnant in his 20s while training with the League.

"Elseworlds" is a long running sub line of DC Comics stories specifically so that a unique story can be told without disruption of the main universe.

I mean there's no shortages of Clayfaces (Claysface?) that they can draw on. So killing off one doesn't mean they can't still have another.
There are several people to use the moniker of Clayface. It doesn't need to be an Elseworld story.

@SosaDBZ Part 2 takes place shortly after the The Batman and The Penguin which take place in 2022. Creature Commandos takes place in 2023-2024 referencing events from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker which took place on 2022. 2022 would be Batman's SECOND YEAR in crime fighting which is an issue because Crime Commandos confirms DCU Batman has been active for at least 15 to 20 years. Not to mention how the Clayface movie will most likely make it make less sense.

I mean, if you look at it my way, there have been comics where Detective Batman turns into fantastical, and during both shows, "The Batman" and "The Penguin," both were Batman's first two years. Gordon already had ties with him, set down before the actual movie, 15 years later wouldn't be a surprise if Batman was more bulky, Gotham was down or upgraded (probably down, Bruce doesn't spend his money on the right things) and metahumans are more potent. 🤷♂
It could work either way since The Batman Part 2 does intend to introduce Robin and Brave and The Bold Wants to too

I really really hope that Robbat Battinbat is the Batman of Gunn's DCU. He was great in the role and I love that that Gotham is already really well established
I hope that Andy Muschietti still makes the DCU Batman movie because I want the DCU to have a bombastic fantastical Batman (like Batman in The Flash, I thought that was the perfect Batman for a Justice League except that he was 70) whether it turns out to be Robert Pattinson or not.

Matt Reeves needs to just stand on business and say no. Gunn needs to find another actor to portray his batman in his DCU. It's not that hard.
i mean judging from the interview you can see matt sticks into what he really want which is to focus on this crime saga tale and not combining it with the DCU but just like all of us, we don't know what the future holds

I feel like we are gonna find out in a few years and learn that Gunn’s “reconsideration” of putting Reeves Batman in the DCU is really Warner pushing for it after the success of the Penguin.
I'm open to Rob being the DCU Batman but when he shows up its like a more mature and already introduced Batman. Have the Reeves movies be the origin of the character. The only problem is that would confuse audiences who dont know any better but overall it would make sense comic-wise cause that's what batman did in his first few years, cleaned up gotham. I'd be fine either way if we get an already established Batman that's written like Batman.
If we all donate a dollar to Matt maybe we can get it a year early😢

Um... Swamp Thing was announced to be part of th DCU. I thought that was obvious. I don't know why you guys thought it was Elseworlds. I couldn't think of any character that makes more sense in a chapter called Gods and Monsters, as he is basically both.
Going through that huge list of movies and series coming up seems daunting as hell. Like they have a long long ways to go for some of them and I really wonder how much will come to be. I know the studios have to have some kind of timeline of what they plan on doing but going that many years out is a bit nuts. Go year by year and don't announce anything till you now FOR SURE it's gonna be a thing and work out.

I don’t see why Gunn can’t integrate Pattinson into his DCU. Gunn’s Batman has been Batman for over a decade, Matt Reeves’s Batman has been around for only 2 years, his whole trilogy could take place before Gunn’s Superman ever becomes Superman.
And Pattinson has a young face for being almost 40, he could play both a young and older Bruce Wayne.
Because it’s a bad idea. The 10 years isn’t the issue at all. It won’t happen.

The Batman universe is so grounded that the name "Oswald Cobblepot" was considered too silly. There's no way that world is the same as the DCU.

I wonder if Will Pattison could pull off playing 2 different versions of Batman, a grounded but gritty realistic Reevesverse Batman then a more comic book accurate Batman in the DCU. Doubtful but interesting concept.

That was probably my biggest gripe about that movie haha. His emo Bruce Wayne was atrocious haha.
It had a point though. He hasn’t developed any sort of BW persona yet, and pretty much lives and breathes Batman at this point.
