  • June 18th is National Sushi Day. To celebrate, I created a cute miniature sushi charm for you. This California Roll tutorial uses a cane technique in polymer clay, and is perfect for making multiple California Rolls. I use Premo Polymer Clay, and talk through the steps. I think it would be something fun to make for yourself, or any of your Sushi loving friends.

      Cute Treats I wish you luck! I don't have time right now, but after seeing your baked potato, I thought if I can find time to make a couple of items from other channels tutorials, that I can show my results, and link the tutorials I used :) I probably can't during Summer, since the kids are out of school, but It would be a cool thing to do once every couple of months.

    Can you do a video on how to first start out with clay? I've done a few projects here and there but it never really worked out because I don't know what tools and colors of clay to start out with. I hope that makes sense...

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  9 лет назад

      VBMermaidKristina Thank you for the request. I will try to do one pretty soon. I will have to gather my thoughts. I figure I should start out with the essentials, then show what it is nice to have. ..
      I want to make sure I do it in a way that makes sense, but that type of video is long over due :)

    Hey Heather, just wondering, where did you get your straight blade from? I can't seem to be able to find any. Thank you!

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  9 лет назад

      Kasen Loh Sorry about the delay, I actually get them from Micheals, and Joanns. It is called the Sculpey super slicer set. There are 4 blades, and I have used them all.

      I went to the website and they only had the smaller ones, but maybe they were just sold out of the large. But I did see they now have silver and gold TLS!! What!! I never see liquid Fimo in stores either, seems to be hard to find.

      ***** I hope they get in the 80z bottles soon :( I will have to check out the silver and gold when I can, they must be new. I have never seen them before.

    How do you know how much clay to start out with?

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  9 лет назад

      Susan Kipper It becomes more intuitive over time, the more you do. Since i was making food in batches I always conditioned more clay rather than less, and make as many as i could. in batches of 30 + items.
      Generally speaking though, I condition about a half a palm full, but items in a singles color like chocolate, or graham crackers, you can condition a lot less. Usually I use a quarter to half of the package worth of clay
      I hope this helps..
      For cane work I always condition 3/4 of a package to start with of each color, and just store the left overs for later.

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  9 лет назад

      misshulagirl05 The cucumber part, is the skinner blend with the green and transparent, that I stacked and stretched out :) Not sure if I cut out saying that was the cucumber while I was editing. Thanks for mentioning it. Heather
