  • We take a closer look at the budget friendly Featherstone UL Granite 2P tent. Featherstone kindly provided us with their lightweight tent, and we're looking into all its features. We unpack and examine every component, from the rain fly all the way down to the stakes, carefully weighing each piece. Wondering if it can fit two 25-inch sleep pads? We'll test it out and see if there's still room for gear inside. We check to see how easy it is to set up the tent and take a closer look at the vestibule size. Can this inexpensive tent make it easier to get outdoors and do some backpacking?

It’s nice to see they have pockets on the rain fly for the crossbar. This tent didn’t used to have that, and earlier reviews noted that it was a design flaw. Looks like Featherstone listened to customer feedback and made the improvement. That says a lot about them.

Great video. You guys did an excellent job showing the good and bad of this tent. I was thinking of buying it and this helped a bunch.

Have their peridot and obsidian model tents. Have had good experiences using their gear. Trying the moon dance too quilt right now

I really appreciate this video, I've been looking for a starting tent to get into backpacking and camping with and decided on this model but every video about it was very out of date. The buckle snaps for the fly and nylon pockets protecting the fly where the poles meet it are both new and are very good features to know about.

Just buy some little strong magnets and some tenacious tape or something and put your own magnets on.

Hey like yalls content! Little thing about dark none highviz colors I always use survey flagging flo pink or flo orange. I tie of a small piece on everything and it helps to see objects at night and helps not loose things that are small and blend in like them stakes!!

Good morning... I just found your channel and am glad that i did... I'm in search of my first tent. I had made up my mind on the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL (your video contributed to that decision) and was okay with the price, as i do believe, buy once, cry once... after your trial of the Featherstone, would you say the features, material, weight savings, etc. justify the higher price of the Big Agnes? Again, i am not looking for the best budget option, but rather the best option and features at a given price point. Thank you in advance for your time

If you can swing it, I’d go with the Copper Spur. It is going to be lighter, taller headroom, and more storage pockets. Of course that comes with a much higher price tag. 🙂

Thanks for the detailed video. I especially appreciated you showing the pockets on the fly for the top cross-pole ends to fit into. Do you know if the Featherstone Peridot has those same pockets on the fly? Also, could you tell me the length of the folded pole segments? I'm considering this tent for bikepacking, so shorter pole segments allow more options for attaching to the bike. Thanks!!

The length of the pole bundle is 15”. Sorry we have no experience with the Peridot tent so can’t help you there.

the Peridot does have the pockets on the fly and storage pockets on all four corners of the inner tent

Thank you for such a detailed video! In your honest opinion, which is better the featherstone or Paris outdoors Bryce 2P? I’m looking for an option to use with my son when we go backpacking

We haven’t had the chance to test the Bryce 2p so cannot give you any guidance there. We also reviewed featherstones trekking pole tent if you wanted to go that route.

Very good job. You should have weighed the excess bags. I bet they were under 4 oz in total.

Can the tent be set up, foot print and rain fly first,? Leaving the body tent last in case of downpour rain.

We didn’t try it, but there should be no reason you couldn’t do that.

Nice review, looks like a handy little tent.
    Metric measurements would be appreciated.

Thanks! We normally try to include Metric measurements, but forgot this time. 😶‍🌫️ If it helps here are the weights: All Tent Parts (little bags included) 2285g, Foot Print 261g, Stakes 8.5g, All Stakes with tie downs 133g, Rain Fly 607g, Tent Body 647g, Poles 573g. Hope this helps. 😁

Not sure a 5 pound tent can hold the appropriate title as being UL

    • @Mtatox07
      @Mtatox07 5 месяцев назад

I reached out to featherstone about this one. The reason they have that naming convention is that UL standards for the option of having just a fast-fly and footprint set up. Which equates to 2 lbs 6 oz. Their tents that don't offer this won't have it.
