This guy just feels the music. It's oozin right outa his soul. Thats when real music happens. Doesnt have to be some flashy fast ass guitar riff. Just feel it and go with where it leads you. Thats real music.

saw him a few times at Martyrs in Chicago (CD: Live at Martyrs) was great fun. one night he got pissed-off at the bar crowd, for not paying more attention to the music. so he took it out on his guitars, pulled-out all the stops, raged, that got the crowd;s attention. a night to remember!

Great to see the vid I never saw at the time. I still have this on cassette. As a Rock fan at the time, I was afraid I was flirting with Country buying it, but I heard this single and it was too hard to resist. The album blew me away and I still rate Mr. Whiltley way up there.

    • @luvfinger

I can relate! Even if Chris Whitley's style of rock had crossed over into country, a large majority of rockers would relate to it simply for the authentic Americano nuance.

I am a Chris Whitley fan dating back to his first album, Living with the Law, from which this track originates.
Living with the Law is a masterpiece. I have it on cassette I think. I am using the word masterpiece.
I lost track of the artist somewhat, except for that tape and one other CD. I have never seen this video, or much of Whitley visually at all for that matter. I am glad to see what he looked like. But I am glad actually that I came to know Whitley's music first--seeing only this video may have put me off back then, I don't know.
It's the tank top. The tank top is barely there, it looks silly. It's faint, faint criticism really. It's up there with noting Martin Chambers' dickish hair.
Oh, the video...I greatly enjoyed hearing and seeing it!
