They work well and killed both within 30 yards from point of impact. The other head I used was a 125 G5 Striker which was also excellent.
    Im also practicing with my long bow, hopefully I develope the skill & confidence to take it out this season.

    What a coincidence. I m in the process of going 100% Elite as well. I cannot wait to shoot my new verdict. I will check through your back catalog of videos, but I have some thoughts of videos on topics where I would appreciate your point of view. I wonder, just short of making a string, how hard is it to do different kinds of servings? I have recently begun replacing center servings but wonder about end loops? I recently had to get some strings warranty replaced from a reputable company, who did it quickly and with good customer service. But how hard could it have been to fix myself? Also, for the home DIY guy, what do you see as the progression of gear beginners should get when they want to start customizing or fixing things, vs intermediate competitors, vs full "I have my own bow shop" kind of guys? Last suggestion, and I apologize if you already made this video, but what kinds of things would you take with you to a TAC as a "just in case?" I plan to go to a TAC someday but it is an investment of time and money as there are no TAC competitions near me. If I do go, what kinds of gear should I bring, and what can I leave at home? Thanks for making videos and thanks for considering my questions.

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  4 месяца назад +1

      Leave end serving to the professionals if you're trying to do a full end serving replacement. End servings hold the tag ends of the strings together under massive friction, and therefore hold your bow together and keep the cable from popping apart. I wouldn't want to put that to chance. Center serving though is just window dressing to protect the string from dloops and nocks. Have at that as much as you want.
      I have a few videos on the home shop topic, and my views haven't changed. It all boils down to how much do you want to invest to eventually make the leap to owning a press. That is the biggest lynch pin of the whole system and you never can really "do it all" until you own one. But a collection of hand tools, T square, bow vise, dloop pliers, and allen wrenches will get you most of the way there.
      TAC events are tricky depending on where you're going and what time of year. Water, water, and more water. Also, if you're going to a place with high elevation like the shoots out West, really need to pay attention to altitude. It can really mess a person up and come on them quickly. Outside of that, a good backpack you want to carry for hours, lots of arrows, and a have fun attitude are all you need!

    If I was a tall dude like you, I would be hunting with the Verdict. I have no clue why guys think they must have a short ATA bow for hunting? I shot a 41" ATA Mathews Signatures (3.5 pounds) from 1996 to 2012 (17 seasons). It wasn't a target bow. It was a hunting bow made for finger shooters. I was still shooting fingers when I bought it, but I used a release for most of those years. The 41" ATA was never an issue. As a matter of fact, I sort of miss the length (been shooting 35" ATA since 2013). I'm not as tall as you, but I would still pick the Verdict over the shorter ATA bows. If 35" ATA isn't a choice, I'm going up rather than down in length. Personally, I think the Verdict would make a sweet hunting bow. During my past 37 archery seasons, I have never seen the need for a short ATA bow. I feel you're settling (@ 33"), & you don't have to in my opinion. Verdict in outdoor green with a little removable camo paint sponged on. That would be my choice!

      The Ethos shoots like a 35" bow. It has the exact same string angle as the E35, it's much faster and holds like a freakin rock.
      Bows these days have much longer risers and bigger cams. A 33" ATA bow today holds as good or better than most 35" ATA bows from years ago. Sounds like you're stuck in the past and missing out on some great shooting bows.

      @@douglasvaughn9530 Very few bows are faster than bows made 10 years ago. My bow is a 2013 model, & it's rated at the same speed (340 fps). You're just buying into marketing hype. My older bow is rock solid, over engineered in my opinion, has a solid backwall, is quiet at the shot, & comes with a superior warranty. I'm not bashing today's new bows at all, but I would feel like a fool buying a new one. It wouldn't give me ANYTHING that I don't already have. I learned a long time ago to be content. My 58 year old brother is someone who is a bit more stuck in time. He's bought 3 compounds since age 12. The first one (Browning) snapped in half. Second one (Xi) was stolen. He used his insurance money to buy his Hoyt 20+ years ago. We're hunters not archers. We become proficient with whatever we use. He could afford any bow he wants, but feels no need to change. Lift definitely also a speed bow, but you can't beat all the adjustments with Elite. Letoff, 1/4" draw length, smooth or performance mod, SET technology, the list goes on.

      Nothing really! Sirius makes good stuff. But as a shop owner, it doesn't look right to me if I don't shoot the products I sell. (Sirius is only direct to consumer.) Been a Gold Tip shooter for a long time especially for the target side of things, so shooting a hunting shaft again was like riding a bike. Was tough not to go with XT Hunters that I have piles of already. LOL. Wanted to give something new a stab!

      Just tried switching up my arrow setup this year and was a mess. I went back to my Axis, now in a 300 spine. Total arrow weight will be about 500 grains.
      Trying to decide between Magnus Stinger Buzzcuts or the Black Hornet Ser Razors.

    So you’re shooting 300 spine with 125grn up front at 31” draw….. how did it tune? I’m shooting those same specs, same bow, but with a 250 spine and it’s been giving me problems tuning.
    I thought 300 would be on the weak side but if it tuned easily with 300s maybe I’ll switch

      Tuned in minutes. With everything set plain Jane from the factory, I was getting 1/4" nock left tear. Little tweak of the SET and I was bullet holes in no time. Tested with lighted nock and broadheads and we're the same POI with field points out to 40. Good enough for me!

      @@averagejackarchery Thank you for replying, love your videos and content, added bonus for your interaction. I’ll give some 300s a try and see if that helps. It’s shooting great but I have the SET basically maxed out to do it.
      Tried shimming to get rid of a nasty right tear but that caused cam/cable rubbing. Had to add weight to the front, must be a spine issue.
      Thanks again for the reply

      @@derickprice8996 Gotta really watch torque, grip placement, and face pressure. Also try a lower letoff setting as high letoff makes everything soft on the back end and more prone to shooter form errors.

      Just curious, since we have the same draw length, what setting is your mod on. My bow is drawing long in the longer lengths.
      Is your nose touching the string? I can’t seem to get the string to my nose without sacrificing form by pushing my head down into it.
      Everyone says the string angle is the same as the E35, but it doesn’t feel like it to me. I’m missing something in the way I have it set. Going to try a shorter release next, using a UV thumb and the throat is long on it.
      Maybe I could lengthen the draw on the bow and shorten the release up and get the string to my nose then.

    Bummer that Bowtech sued Athens into oblivion over something that was similar but not executed the same. Makes me not want to buy one like I previously did.
    Anyway welcome back to a familiar home with Elite, they get high marks as well for their ease of tune ability and shoot ability. I remember that is what you had at your Tethrd Teach N Train a few years ago when I met you.

Gives me first hand experience as a dealer and I have mounts in my store where I can point at the animal and say "this deer was shot with this arrow and this broadhead". Stuff I carry in my store and if the guy behind the counter has confidence, the customer can have confidence!

    They’re great at buying archers to sell their products. They absolutely suck with supporting their customers.
    My story: Bought an Elite Omnia in December. A month later I unknowingly shot an arrow with a broken nock. Arrow kicked to the right and essentially dry fired. Since I had just put the limb stops on. Both cams completely taco’d. Both limbs were damages. Total loss except for the riser. Took it to the dealer. Dealer reached out to Elite. Assumed the least they would be was offer parts at cost as I just bought it and it wasn’t their fault. So cost made sense as good business. Let’s keep in mind. I loved my Omnia so much. I bought every accessory plus their arrows. Bought my son an Ember and all the accessories. Easily dropped 3k on elite products in 30 days. I try to be very loyal to companies I believe make a good product and do right by their customers.
    Their response. “Buy a new bow”. The shop for me into a Lift 29.5 and I’ve already talk 3 people out of buying an Elite.
    Buyer beware. Elite is currently prioritizing buying archers to push their products. And have nothing left to support those that actually pay for their products. Great product. Terrible business practices.

      @averagejackarchery  4 месяца назад +5

      My experience as a customer and dealer has been the complete opposite. To be fair, any bow damaged by the customer, from any manufacturer, is the customer's responsibility. Unless the part is prematurely damaged such as a splitting limb or bearings in cams and rollers that have gone bad, it's the customer's responsibility. Things such as bad nocks in an arrow isn't the manufacturer's fault. Maybe it was the shooter for not checking. Or the arrow manufacturer for not making a good nock. Either way, it's not the bow company's financial responsibility to pay for another individual's or manufacturers defects. Now, to your comment on "at cost", that would be to the discretion of the shop owner and the parts and their lack of markup. No manufacturer, and I mean NO manufacturer gives out parts for free to dealers. Every single thing is paid for by the shop at the markup from the manufacturer. As a dealer I can't even get parts for my own bow "at cost" of factory. Just not how the industry works.

      @@averagejackarchery Just to clarify. I wasn’t expecting anything for free. I thought cost would be fair showing that they’re trying to work with someone that just spent 3k on their products in 30 days. And yes, I heard their customer service sector be great. Unfortunately, they no longer have the budget as they’ve spent it on buying archers. I’m not mad. Just sharing my story and pointing out their priorities. I’m a small business owner like yourself. And you know as well as I do business is about relationships. This was a great way for them to retain a loyal customer. Instead, they’ve lost a loyal customer and 3 sales to date. I’m sure I can convert at least a few more dozen over the years. I’ve gone out of my way for customers just like I’m sure you have. Parts at cost is a small price to not pay to retain a customer. Again, it’s their business and this is how they choose to run it. I’m happier with my Lift so it all worked out for me. I’m curious to see how things play out for them. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

      @@Your_mom736 Absolutely appreciate the dialogue. For me, I have many customers like you in my store. Multiple bow purchases, often from one company. I would help on parts best I could. No need for a markup, but I would charge for labor. Which isn't grandiose for something like a cam change. I've never, ever, had a company just tell me to tell a customer to outright buy an entirely new bow. Now, given the cost of the bow per the costs of the new parts needed, it might be smart. I had a customer bring me a dry fired Bear bow he bought used and then dry fired. His investment was $300, but new cams and strings were going to run him over $300. In that case I definitely encouraged a new bow, as there's no sense starting with a used product and putting that much money into it. I had a gentleman bring me an old Mathews Creed. Limb was delaminating. Customer was original owner and wanted it replaced, but Mathews didn't want to outright warranty a bow of its age. I sold him parts at dealer cost and my labor and he resurrected his tried and true hunting partner.
