Supeeerr helpful. I like how instead of just "place this here do this and download my microcontroller" you explain what the parts do, how they can be used, and also give a good layout for an engine.
Hi I've been watching you for a long time. The most important thing you didn't say in this video is how you can increase the power of a jet engine for free to any values you want. To achieve this, you need to place a branch behind the combustion chamber, and connect several small turbines to this branch. The more turbines are connected, the more power there will be with the same throttle. And accordingly, with the same fuel consumption. Accordingly, an infinite number of turbines can be connected.
Excellent comment! I will look into making a more advanced Jet Engine video that mentions this, ad the idea of this video was to give people a starting point on how to use jet engines! :)
10:55 you can make mixed engine like diesel or electric with turbine, for example if you place big turbine and place large jet intake on it square part, then connect to turbine rps any source of rps like motor or diesel engine - large jet intake will provide large amount of thrust. Also compressor is unnecessary, if you have intake and flying aircraft you need compressor just for start then turn off. Also you can remove compressor entirely if you provide some rps for turbine at the start
Giving a suggestion to everyone watching. Stick a clutch between the electric motor and the RPS pipe. Then connect the same signal for the motor to the clutch. The motors add drag to the system when they aren't being used. I use this same idea with all of my engines, jet or diesel since they start up much faster and modular engines have drag from the belt system. So I don't use modular engine starters either. I have a dedicated "jump start" MC that just takes in an on/off signal and outputs a number which is 1 when it gets an On signal. The clutch and motor engage then disengage when off. Only other comment I'd add is, why not use Greater Than instead of the threshold? Is this for packaging? (1x2 vs 2x2 + you need a 1x2 constant number?)
Don't forget that you can increase the amount of power you make with turbines by using the ducts to add more turbines (its just harder to start up without a starting motor)
I really like the idea to have the throttle value translate to an upper and lower rps limit, that works really well. for smaller jet engines, dont have the compressor. Instead just add the starting motor. I would also hook up a generator which only activates based on electricity remaining. instead of something complex with a pid I would just do this: if x < 0.8 then go into a capacitor with 0s charge and 10-15s discharge time. Hook that up to the generator clutch. Since Stormworks has Electricity values of 0-1, it will just turn on the gen for 10-15s if it goes below 0.8.
From my experimentations I've found turbines are not balanced out for power generation. You need about 20 turbines get barely enough power for 1 compressor. But if you put a small generator on a medium turbine you get more than enough power for a compressor. This is especially a problem in classic career where medium turbine is locked behind more research. Also from the same tests I've noticed putting multiple turbines in parallel increases efficiency. But its not significant unless you're running the engine fast enough (70+RPS)
You can or could(I didn't test this in resent updates) remove the compressor stage and only use the combustion chamber and a turbine but only at high speed like a ramjet engine

Thank you so much for your comment :) This is just the simple format, I will make a more advanced tutorial soon!
Ohh good! Im gonna use this on my space ship!

This with the new 1x1 turbines is so op no cooling and it’s efficient I can’t thank you enough brother I’m about to turbine swap everything

This helps load was actually just in your discord asking how to get started in jet engines
8:55 they work just fine without intakes, but they don't increase power with speed without them
just started my first helicopter yesterday and this tutorial helped me alot!
As a person who can never figure jet engines out, thank you so much 🙏
You can combine more of the turbines (1-3 for best results) for more power and better fuel efficiency.
Thanks for the tutorial you helped me optimise the tank that I was working on

Tysm for showing how to make microcontroller!!
Do you have a tutorial on steam or nuclear? I used to have them figured out but they updated the pressure system.
Please do this, it would be so useful since there’s no up to date tutorial
He send he is bad at that stuff
You can actually make a ramjet by not using a compressor however you need to have some speed to start it up first this can be used for e.g missiles
you can start it providing rps to turbine by motor
You can get rid of the compressor and use an electric motor to get the system started. The turbine will create its own pressure at high rpm.
You can or could(I didn't test this in resent updates) remove the compressor stage and only use the combustion chamber and a turbine but only at high speed like a ramjet engine
Thank you brother!!!!

best part about jet engines is how they work BETTER without a compressor)
