    FYI, it appears the ATK effect has taken place and Amazon themselves have sold out of this (and appears to do so from time to time) so the Amazon prices you're seeing are from 3rd parties who are price gouging. The Amazon price, the last it was in stock, was $99. Be patient and keep an eye out and it will eventually come back for that price.

    I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

      The broil kind was $160ish when I looked into it. I waited a few months because they had recommended it in a video from many years ago but as I kept looking I was discouraged by the reviews. I ended up with a much cheaper Presto Tilt n’ Drain after researching that presto was one of the better electric griddle brands. My model is similar to the one they showed. The one I chose just doesn’t stand up to store and drains differently. The only is issue I notice is the side by the drain container does not get as hot. It’s not a big issue as they described but it’s worth mentioning.

    My take? If you buy cheap for 10 years, you end up w a house full of cheap things, garage tools, kitchen appliances, furniture, mattresses, Home Theater equipment, cars, etc., in 10 years.
    Like most things, I research the company, reputation, who is on the BOD (Board of Directors), their Mission Statement, reputation, Warranty, ratings... all of it, with notes.
    Anyone can buy a $20 griddle at WalMart, etc. Especially during the Holiday season and Mother's/Father's Days.
    My rule of thumb?
    Do I want something that can do the job?
    If I'm going to have "said item" for over 10 years, research the top 10 models, Manufacturers, etc., and pick something that is one of the top 10, then my fav 3-5 picks, rated, based upon our research, right?
    In the end, you have a quality item that will last for years, presuming that said Company is still in business 10 years from now, post C19? 🤪
    Stay safe, everyone...
    🇺🇸 ⚘ 🙏❤🙏 ⚘ 🇺🇸
    Thanks ATK.

    Or you can get a $10 two-sided cast iron griddle and use your existing stove-top to heat it. Cheap, heats evenly, easy to clean and care for, no worry about scratching or damaging the cooking surface (why wasn't this brought up as a factor?), and grease gets naturally drained away when using the grill side. Voila!

    • @TheBrokenLife
      @TheBrokenLife 4 года назад +1

      This is just my opinion of course, but I find it easier to clean up the counter top after a big bacon frying session than I do the stove top, especially with gas burners to clean around. I personally don't have a problem with the $100 for their winner expressly because of that backsplash to boot.
      That said, I used to own the older model of their runner up, which used to have legs just like the winner, and it was just fine for about half the money. That's why it's nice that they give you a runner up. I'm just disappointed they changed the legs.

Does anyone else find this true? It is annoying to me. Models, and price and quality seem not to matter -- made in China is the only common thing. biohazard 918 that is not clear at all. I don’t know what your basing that on. They are offering it as new content. If you are correct, then there should be a broadcast date. The only date is TODAY (7 hours ago) and something in the test kitchen Amazon link that says it is an older clip or that the price has gone up. It is grossly misleading.

      @@roberttudisco4798 It's irresponsible affiliate linking and Amazon actually forbids affiliates to mention exact prices when linking exactly because prices change all the time. If they simply said "regular price of around $100 is what we paid at the time of filming", in the description I'd let them off the hook on this one, but that's not what happened.
      So... The TV show did it fine (the full episode is in fact from 2 years ago), it's their social media people that are dropping the ball on RUclips and, in fact, violating the terms of the Amazon associate program.
      With all of that said, regular viewers here already know how this works. They talk about it and the price goes up. You wait it out and the prices comes back down. The same thing happened when they did their Kidde fire extinguisher video (which I made a companion video to) and all sorts of people were reporting double prices for weeks after.

    Drew Barrymore's "Beautiful" kitchen line has a griddle with a backsplash. It's reasonably priced too, available exclusively at Walmart. I wish Drew's "B" logo wasn't so childish looking on all her products, because they tend to look a bit corny in a kitchen, imo. Something that looks like it was trying to catch the attention of Gen-Z with limited attention spans, instead.

    Great review. Problem is that your review says the winner costs $99, but the link you give is to amazon which lists it for $183.99. That is almost DOUBLE THE PRICE! Either the review is misleading or Amazon is taking SEVERE advantage of your reviews. Very disappointing.

    I have to disagree with you 110% on this one.
    I bought this piece of garbage about 2 years ago, and immediately had trouble with it. If I recall correctly, the heating element broke within the first thirty days of use. I remember thinking that it heated unbelievably unevenly, but ok, broken heating element, must be the problem.
    Nope.
    Got a new unit under warranty and it was terrible. Worst heat distribution of any electric griddle / fry pan I’ve ever used. Measured up to 40 degrees of difference one end to the other. Literally could cook two sets of pancakes on one end, while the other end hadn’t finished the first ones I laid down. When cooking other items like fried rice or cheesesteaks, I had to constantly rotate the food end to end to cook it evenly. Horrible. My wife and even kids agreed, it was terrible. The tilting legs constantly fell off. The grease cup leaked more grease than it caught.
    Do NOT buy the Broil King electric griddle!

    Why cant ATK review a stainless or cast iron electric griddle?
    How can you make a proper Cheese Steak on it if you cant chop at the beef and onions using a metal burger flipper and a drywall joint knife? You cant scrape and bang those tools on a non stick surface. I don't know where you come from but that is how a Cheese Steak is made.
    Why aren't there more Non Coated Stainless or Cast Iron ELECTRIC Griddles out there? Neither would be hard to maintain, and if either got bad there are always grill bricks or pumice stones.

    • @Herfmonster
      @Herfmonster 4 года назад +1

      BTW Don't even try to state that the ATK audience is either too dumb or too lazy to take care of either of those surfaces. All the Recipes from this video would perform the same based on heating coil placement and density.
      ATK staff??? Are your viewers too dumb or too lazy to use or maintain those surfaces???
