Hi Natalie. As far as I am aware, it first appeared in 1990 on the For Our Children charity album, in support of research for pediatric children suffering from AIDS. I bought the cd when it came out. Other artists who contributed include Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Ann and Nancy Wilson, James Taylor, Barbra Streisand, Little Richard, Jennifer Warnes, Jackson Browne, and more. Gentle album, big heart.
@@michaelthorner yes, we had this cassette tape too, and I played it for our babes as I danced them to sleep in my arms. Meryl's was the best of these wonderful lullabies, the best I ever heard anywhere... transcendent. Hearing it again now after all these years transported me back to that upstairs bedroom, and the magic of that incredible time. Nothing better, nothing sweeter in this World...

Lovely rendition soft gentle sincere. She is something else. So talented and doesn’t mouth about it.
This is magnificent. Gartan is a lake in Donegal.
Where is this from???
This is an old Irish lullaby, from the parish of Garten in County Donegal. Beautiful isn"t it, check out the lyrics on google.
