I kinda like the laid-back style of the previous Golfs. I personally think some of the Japanese hatches are way too aggressively styled but I guess people like that.
Since 2018, South America doesn't have the VW Golf. It's a marvelous car, but everyone wants now SUV, Jeep Compass, Chevrolet Tracker, some Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai.
@@amanaxus6658 They're going to stop selling the regular VW Golf (Alltrack and Estate too I believe) in the US, but will still sell the Golf GTI and Golf R. I think it's because the GTI sales outnumber that of a regular Golf.
Kown they just never did well in the US. Everyone wanted the sporty GTI or the R. The normal golf only did well in high-density areas, but the majority of the Golf’s sales were from the GTI or the R.

So interesting to see the German best seller in a (for me at least) very unusual spec: white interior, small rims, sun roof, small screen and “big” TSI engine :D And manual handbrake, wow that’s something different.
This may be a great little car, one of the best choices in the compact segment (especially in 6MT form)...but I cant imagine how incredibly boring it would be to own and daily drive a non GTI Golf..lol. It seems competent in every important area you'd want in a commuter..except personality.
I have a regular Golf, 122 hp petrol. I don't find it boring but I know many people say it is a boring car, it does everything brilliantly and the 1.4 tsi engine is a cracking little engine. I used to have a Ford fiesta, great little car and was more fun to drive on windy roads but I'd never go back to a Fiesta from a golf.

americanboy the GTI MSRP is $28,595, and any good GTI is almost $35-40k. It’s just not super affordable to many people including myself.
