I love my brand new GTI SE manual. It's literally almost every type of car all in 1. It's practical, it rides great like a family SUV but handles like a sports car, it's quick, comes with plenty of optional gadgets, it looks good, and the interior is actually really nice for a compact. Shut up and take my money
@Dcc357 Would you recommend it over an EcoBoost mustang?? I’m stuck between the two and don’t know which one to pull the trigger on 😭 I initially had my eyes set out on a gti, but then possibly wanted the stang cuz of rwd and slightly more power. Gti definitely has the better interior and practicality being a hatch obviously. Just wanted someone’s opinion that owns one!
@@savagekris1474 The GTI will be cheaper to insure. It's also fantastic for driving on curvy back roads. The front limited slip differential makes it stay tight around turns. There is a huge aftermarket for them, engines are very tuneable, they also have a very good ride for a compact car on 18 inch rims. Coming from having a C5 Corvette, trust me you never want to have a muscle car without a V8. Anyways, drive both and see what you like. It's hard for me to defend Mustangs too because I'd never be caught dead in one lol.
@@Dcc357 preciate the info dude. Yeah I’m definitely gonna test drive them both and see what I like. A red Corvette has always been my dream car lol but I gotta think realistic for now 😭 one day though lol. I’ll lyk what I end up going with!
@@ricepony33 it has nothing to do with boost pressure. All new manual cars have rev hang because cutting the throttle the way you normally would for a shift makes a fuel rich spike into the engine and adds to emmisions so they hang the throttle open for that extra second to make sure there's a clean burn.
@@emredogan810 it is because of the car... they tune the throttle body to close slower so there isn’t a drop in the air/fuel ratio, aka become rich.. it is an emissions thing

That left hand bend to merge...noticeable right slide to the edge of roadway. Definitely need to exercises restraint and awareness with this vehicle fwd
The 6 Speed is great but people really need to stop sleeping on the DCT that's offered in these cars. It's faster and still makes for a fun experience on the daily.
I loved the dsg in my 2012. It was a beast of a transmission. Never had one hicc up or Rev hang like these guys are talking about. Maybe in "sport" mode, but that's it. My only gripe with the gti was reliability as far as the engine. I had a lot of problems which makes me skeptical to get a new one. I hope these people have a few grand set aside for when something inevitably breaks on it csuse it will no matter how well you take care of it
@@davidvilchez2209 Rev hang is very much a thing in the gti and other boosted cars now a days such as the wrx. New gti is more reliable though I've heard from my friends and people in general.
@@DBeav97 but just because it's a manual it doesn't mean it's a good manual. Type R or Megane RS have great manuals. VWs manuals aren't as good. So that's why I say DSG. For some other performance cars the manual is the one to go for. But not in the case of this Golf GTI.
To each their own. For the purist, nothing beats a manual transmission. It adds much more driving engagement for any vehicle. Unfortunately in the case of the GTI and Golf R, the manual powertrain can't handle much more above stock power. They have very weak clutches. Even if you upgrade the clutch, the thrust bearing is the next weak link and can lead to catastrophic engine failure, if not upgraded as well. And for that, I believe it's an engine out job.
