The only way I can imagine Claude running back to Byleth with his tail tucked between his legs... is if he forgot his wedding anniversary and forgot to buy a huge stack of meat for Ingrid.
For my second golden deer run I did end up with Claude and Ingrid's paired ending and I honestly. I can imagine Claude's true intension when coming in to save Fodlan was just so that he can have a "You owe me" on Byleth for whenever he pisses of Ingrid too much.

This man is dead he cannot run or hide and god shattering star is playing and that is at minimum on par with the jaws shark theme in this situation he is so he is very dead as there is no strategy for avoiding this and no one in their right mind is going to get between them. Today is not a good day for Claude.
Pretty sure Ingrid gets better on her “racism”... at least compared to characters like Hilda, y’know, the waifu who listed all the Almyran stereotypes to Cyril when he was a kid Unless this is just a reference to God Shattering Star playing in the background
