- Did some parts more fitting for this vocal style. This one I recorded with a bit rougher settings to get more fitting mood, but that's not a problem for those who like Dead.

I was one of the lucky person to witness Mayhem live concert in Izmir Turkey on December 9 1990. Lots of tech difficulties but it was one of the concert I will never ever forget. Dead was at vocals and he looked like someone out of this world with long straight blonde hair and pure white face. When I first hear him scream it felt like it was coming out of a deep grave with him being full of pain and agony. I will never forget that day. It was bad day for them police getting involved cutting electricity and crap like that but still I won’t forget that day.

@@scottlosey4978 He was tall, very pale white skin, super straight long blonde hair his face had no emotions like truly a dead person, so he really was carrying that Dead name fully awesome. I cannot remember the name of the first song they had on stage but after intro of the song over and the vocal started he screamed with a most brutal vocal I had ever witnessed anywhere in my life, and my whole blood withdrawn...it was amazing feeling. That intro scream was so deep and so with full of agony that i just stood there mesmerized, and I said holy f**king crap wow...as if it was coming from a grave, but was so vivid and so scary, I had goosebumps all over and I just stood there shocked but super pleased with his performance, they were kicking butt on stage, but lots of BS happened later at the concert. Wish he was still alive...

@@scottlosey4978 Yes, wish he was alive, then again he wouldn't be a legend like this then if he was alive maybe, I don't know. He will be remembered greatly and with respect, see after many years we still talk about Dead.
About Attila, not too sure. I am a bit conservative I guess. I listen Dream Theater too and when Portnoy(drummer) quit, I did not want to listen DT at all a while, maybe I am too loyal and conservative to some changes but life is all about changes and adapting , my DT love was too great to just ignore DT songs, so I adapted and started listening Dream Theater again with Mike Mangini(new drummer) and started enjoying DT again, but then again I miss Portnoy and about Mangini maybe he is too mechanical for me, so I miss Portnoy's variations and emotions he put in to his drumming skills.
So again to answer Attila, yes listened him couple times, he has his own style, pretty deep and good vocals but then again he is not Dead. I will still listen Mayhem time to time but not with Attila yet, that time has not come yet for me. Will though one day...

I know this isn't dead. The guy perfectly captured pelle's voice. Still, one of dead's best songs. Interesting he included this song in his suicide note. I think dead just felt so alien to this world. I can relate. Rest in peace pelle.

DEAD Made Mayhem BLACK METAL, before that they were gore lyrics.
Yup, all this bs about black metal being Norwegian is kinda funny because Sweden has influenced black metal alot more.
Skadesucksatlife Sweden was first wave with Bathory, and yes Sweden did definitely did influence second wave almost entirely, it was popular in the “underground” but it didn’t really catch on like the second Norwegian wave did.

@@Antonio-sc4ri Bathory was influential to black metal but wasn't black metal outright. It sounds nothing like Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone or Emperor. Those 4 bands created the black metal sound. It's like calling Motörhead thrash. Sure they were important to the creation of thrash but they're not a thrash band outright.

Mayhem had a unique sound with Dead on vocals, the best to ever grab a mic to do black metal. I’ve tried giving the other vocalists a chance but can’t seem to get into Mayhem’s music after those days. Dead was gone before being able to record this, but this is quite damn close, sounds really good.

Kind of weird doing a vocal cover version, but you know, actually is a good idea. Back in 1996 I bought the tribute to euronymous and became more interested on scandinavian black metal, then I got the Live in Leipzig and was amazed. Then I listened to the De Mysteriis, and as rare as it seems, I wasn't that surprised for this album, and then I realized that was the vocals that did not real justice to that album. Dead vocals were a real archetype for Black Metal.

You should rerecord this with the From The Dark Past rehearsal version. Attila's vocals clash with yours and the whole sounds a bit muddled and confusing because of it. Your Dead impression is quite uncanny though.
The two vocals are actually pretty nice in my opinion, I dont like attila voice alone but as a background it sounds pretty cool

Holy!! This sounds amazing, I could close my eyes and really imagine you in the place of Dead O.O I have been learning this song on bass for the past few days, and I found a "rehearsal 1992" clip here on youtube that has no vocals in it, and the quality isn't absolutely terrible as it is with most rehearsal footage(it sounds like a decently produced demo). If it interests you, would you be able to re-do this song using the vocal-less version for better effect? That would be extremely awesome :)
