To be aware of the fact that Heath Ledger is dead, listening to his "Joker Laugh" is much more frightening. But then again, God bless Heath Ledger and his family. It is a shame to see such talent leave this world.
Heath Ledger carried this Movie in my opinion. Its an Iconic Villian character the Joker..and Heath worked that role. Respect! I watched it so many times because of his contribution to the Movie. Not taking away anything from Christian, but Heath really surmounted the task of what acting is about. He emoted! R.I.P Heath Ledger and thanks for leaving us something worth calling Entertainment.
In my research for a project on this film, it has come to my attention that Bale had entirely different plans for his Batman. He knew there would be a Joker but he wanted to match that monstrosity with his own and show what demons that villain brings out in him along with the rest of Gotham. The same way Two Face become corrupt, he himself would have problems.
This is what I like so much about Nolan: he's intelligent, energic, self-critical and always going on to challenge himself in both intellectual and dinamic territory of movies.
I'd never love any superhero movies untill i saw batman begins that absolutely change my mind then i went to TDK with its intensity made me think about 'being wiser on the world you lived surrounded by corrupted stuffs' and finally i come to TDKR which made me 'alive'.what a great batman trilogy ever!! Still show my batman big posters in my pinkist room, wew :-D:-D
It was coming.. It started with Brokeback Mountain, and I've only seen it once, not that big of a fan, but his performance was BRILLIANT, and of course this one is unbelievable.
Yes the stakes were raised and Heath Ledger received a lot of well deserved praise. The rest of the cast were also impressive and at that same level with their characters aside from Maggie/Rachael. Heath just had a much more entertaining/edgy/outcast character which gave him the spot light, yet he rose to the occasion to win the praise.
"None of that (stunts and explosions) means anything if it doesn't have a great story." Well said Christian Bale. Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from you..
Christian Bale was the absolute perfect choice for a person to play Bruce Wayne and Batman, but somebody should have told him to tone down on the throat cancer voice.
This is why this is my alltime nr1 favorite, jokers motive reflects on the real world so good like "People are only as good as the world allows them to be" 100 years ago we had christianity that people followed mindlessly, even tho it was "horribly" if you compare to todays morals people have. but it's just a mask for them to fit in and believe they are some kind of higher and good people, doesn't really matter what it is, they'll follow whatevers "mainstream"
"He's uncompromising. He deals in chaos, anarchy, and destruction, and that's it." He does what he says he does. Gotta admire that sort of honest conviction in a guy.
TDK is a popular favourite. But my favourite is Batman Begins, it's pacing, story, and focus on Batmans development is almost perfect, pacing, acting, suspense, action, emotion, spending just enough time with the parents, and deeply enough to make Batmans rage against crime believable.
Batman Begins was indeed a great film and I agree with you 100% on why its good. I hope you enjoy Mask of the Phantasm. It may have been made for kids, but its beautifully animated, has a great story (Flawed at some parts) and quite honestly, treats you more like an adult than the Burton and Schumacher films.
Love everyone involved in this film, they all put in 100% I mean Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman? Best cast ever!
Hes practicing accents for upcoming roles or films he is currently working on. Many actors speak in the accents their characters do even when they're not working to help the fluidity so they can give the best performance possible when they return to work.
9:22 When Joker puts the knife up to the face of the mob boss in the cash burn scene the guy was really shocked cause Heath put it so close to his eye!!
I fucking love Chris Nolan, since I was a baby I loved Batman, from Michael Keaton's to Adam West (Very young) Always loved it, and now these movies just top it all top, modern day batman at its very fucking best
Gary Oldman sounded adorably Commissioner-y saying, "He'll rob a bank, steal the money, burn the money. Because he doesn't want the money! How do you police a villain like that?"
Man the way the joker robbed the bank is genius. The day someone does that in real if is the day they should be allowed to keep the money and get away.
The one thing I can't stand about the "behind the scenes" features of this movie is that there is hardly any actual behind the scenes footage. It's all interviews with scenes from the theatrical release. I loved how with the Batman Begins dvd, they actually had Batmobile test footage, stunt/fight scene rehearsal footage, the making of the costumes etc. You'd think for TDK, they would have had even more of that stuff.
What i've read is that chistian bale is an actor that gets so into his character that he literally lives out his role, and the character he played was an emotional and upset guy, and yes, he did get mad, but he was just way into his role. He's not a prick, just an intense actor.
I think what The Dark Knight set up basically is the road to Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. People aiding Batman in the future. There's Bruce starting to realize that a mere politician can't save gotham from freaks like the Joker, and there's Gordon's family being traumatised by Two-Face, and we all know who Gordon's daughter grows up to be.
Every cinematic studio has always been brilliantly careful when selecting an actor for The Joker. Heath Ledger- Nihilistic, Plausible, and Terrorist Joker. (He gave one of the most memorable performances of the character) Jack Nicholson- Psychotic Mobster Joker. (His version of the character retained some of the more comical elements) Mark Hamill- The animated voiced Joker. (Just great) Cesar Romero- The convincing prankster Joker. (Even if the sixties TV program was campy, he wasn't)
"it has all the spectacle and that, has all the stunts and explosions and everything but none of that means anything if you don't have a great story." I hope Michael Bay is taking notes right now.
Yeah, I agree. Kinda... It didn't really make it any more or less epic because they were on screen for like two seconds and they never blew up anyways, but you definitely know that those barrels would be more than enough to take out that ship! LOL!
Also, i don't think anyone expects Robin to show up as a little kid, but in his late teens or early 20's. After the 3rd one, Nolan is probably done with Batman anyway, if he isn't already. All Nolan really said was that Robin was in a crib somewhere in the Batman Begins story. He did NOT say that Robin will never exist in this story. He also didn't give Gordon a daughter in TDK without knowing who she grows up to be.
Well I can't and won't judge a person I haven't met personally (at least not in a negative way (and I just try to, I don't think I'm successful all the time...)), so it'll be quite hard for me to make up my mind concerning someone like him ;) Thanks for answering btw. I'm always glad to get an answer that is.. well friendly and/or serious! :)
"None of that (stunts and explosions) means anything if it doesn't have a great story." Well said Christian Bale, tell that to the Christian Bale who was in Terminator 4: Rise of the Machines
these guys spend thousands of hours making these movies and you want to hate on them? get a life man, this trilogy is amazing and a piece of art, they will be watched for many years to come just like any other amazing movie.
Lol, am I the only one that liked all 3 superhero movies that came out this Summer? ...I thought so... My favorite out of the trilogy was Batman Begins, but thats just me I guess:)
This movie would have been nothing without Heath Ledger. Heath is what made this movie better than all the other Batmans combined. And to think when I first heard he was cast as the Joker, I thought he was a bad choice!
The movie clips sound like they're taken from the first DVDRip to hit the net in '08, which was encoded like 5% too fast and everything was a little too fast and a little too high-pitched. lol
Oh, a little post script about Mask of the Phantasm. I like The Dark Knight more because its more entertaining and its live action, but it was a perfect adaption from the comics. Which is what I meant about it being a perfect Batman film.
pointing out flaws, and me trying to disprove them. But when it boils down to it, you're still not gonna like it. (Besides Ledger's performance as you stated before.) I just want you to kind of take away with the fact that this was pretty close to being a perfect Batman movie, (If you wanna see a perfect one check out Mask of the Phantasm.) and that there was other good aspects about the film. I mean, I have no illusion that says this is the BEST movie, but its definetly one of my favorites.
Have you actually paid attention to his work? At first, I thought he was a decent actor, but now (I'm older now, seen more movies and actually changed a lot in the few years.. You know.. when you're young and stuf.. ;)) I see his.. Yeah I'd say devotion to his job. Have you seen the machinist? He shot this movie just a few months before Batman Begins. Afterwards he lost a lot of weight and muscles again for another movie. I respect him deeply and really appreciate his performances!
Bane doesn't die, they just get him away, and the last film was more warfare like, bane gets gotham under control, fucks people up,shows em that batman wasn't a dark knight at all,and he gets betrayed by everyone, talia and catwoman even twice! But at all it was a pretty good movie i would give it a 9/4 outa 10
did a fantastic job too. But maybe you have to be a fan of the comics to truly appreciate the little things like Batman and Gordon's friendship. Or Batman's unwillingness to kill, and why him killing Dent was so tragic. Etc. etc. But I do agree with you with one thing: Angels & Demons was pretty bad. I was so disappointed...
The Burton confrontation in a cathedral with a bloodied Batman vs. a business building I thought was darker and their dialogue more personal, which I think fits in line better with the quote on quote "darker" pitch to the movie. Alfred and Rhas, and the D.A. version of Dent were done real well. I think that the script could have been written for any action movie though; hardly anything distinctive of Batman characters. Nolan's are the best movies, but could have been closer to the characters.
6:58 "he doesnt wanna be batman forever"
nice one
Haha
Joker: its not about getting good grades, its about surviving the semester lol
To be aware of the fact that Heath Ledger is dead, listening to his "Joker Laugh" is much more frightening. But then again, God bless Heath Ledger and his family. It is a shame to see such talent leave this world.
I'm very nostalgic about when I first discovered this movie.
Jam Lym the best summer movie ever the best fucking batman story they can get unbelievable 2 act
Heath Ledger carried this Movie in my opinion. Its an Iconic Villian character the Joker..and Heath worked that role. Respect! I really love the cast... and I think Bale is the best batman too... he's awesome
I love how Nolan was hooked by his own tease from the end of Batman Begins.
Gracias x subir este video Yatebale ¡¡Great!!
An phenomenal action epic,One of the best i ve ever seen.Hollywood should with Chris Nolan. We deserve filmmakers like him.
"He doesn't want to be Batman Forever" Good choice! Good choice!
LOL "BATMAN HAS TO TINKLE" is such a funny Batman parody!!!
"People seemed to like it"??? WE LOVED IT!!!
I watched this movie about 15 times and I still enjoyed this making of!
Anybody else get a little chuckle at the irony of the line "he doesn't want to be batman forever"? Might just be me but it made me laugh.
This is what I like so much about Nolan: he's intelligent, energic, self-critical and always going on to challenge himself in both intellectual and dinamic territory of movies.
"He doesn't want to be Batman Forever."
Oh my God. No one wants that again.
I love how MTV makes The Dark Knight look like a non-stop high octane action movie...
Lol I clicked on this and I was like this has got to be a Rick Roll with that thumbnail. Thank you maibale for making me trust agin.
So true, the sky was the limit with his talent.
Thanks for uploading this!
It was coming.. It started with Brokeback Mountain, and I've only seen it once, not that big of a fan, but his performance was BRILLIANT, and of course this one is unbelievable.
oh sweet i was hopeing he would get an oscar for that role he did such a bad ass job

Gracias por compartir el video. balekisses.
Cooliest Batman film ever hopefully the next one will be better
10 Years Later 💯💰❤️👏
"None of that (stunts and explosions) means anything if it doesn't have a great story." Well said Christian Bale. Michael Bay could learn a thing or two from you..
"If i can get him for you, can you get him to talk?"
"I'll get him to sing."
best line evar!!
Why can't I love both of them for being separate and incredibly different movies?
Christian Bale was the absolute perfect choice for a person to play Bruce Wayne and Batman, but somebody should have told him to tone down on the throat cancer voice.
This is why this is my alltime nr1 favorite, jokers motive reflects on the real world so good like "People are only as good as the world allows them to be" 100 years ago we had christianity that people followed mindlessly, even tho it was "horribly" if you compare to todays morals people have. but it's just a mask for them to fit in and believe they are some kind of higher and good people, doesn't really matter what it is, they'll follow whatevers "mainstream"

background music feels like this movie was made in the early 90s
RIP Heath Ledger.
If only he could have seen himself play an Oscar worthy performance.
Love everyone involved in this film, they all put in 100% I mean Gary Oldman, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman? Best cast ever!
A lot of method actors get so caught up in their roles they keep their dialect for a while.
Hes practicing accents for upcoming roles or films he is currently working on. Many actors speak in the accents their characters do even when they're not working to help the fluidity so they can give the best performance possible when they return to work.

I came here to see Heath Ledger behind the scenes as The Joker. :(
The one thing I can't stand about the "behind the scenes" features of this movie is that there is hardly any actual behind the scenes footage. Maggie Gyllenhaal has such a beautiful smile
great upload thanks!
Christian Bale is an underrated actor...
ITS ONE OF THE BEST. DEFINITELY TOP 15
I think what The Dark Knight set up basically is the road to Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. People aiding Batman in the future.

"it's not about money...it's about sending a message. everything burns."
0:18 LUL everyone has a serious and happy face except for christian
"it has all the spectacle and that, has all the stunts and explosions and everything but none of that means anything if you don't have a great story."
I hope Michael Bay is taking notes right now.
RIP HEATH LEDGER!!!!
I'm always amazed how these British and Australian actors can switch seemlessly to American accents if required.
Yeah, I agree. Kinda... It didn't really make it any more or less epic because they were on screen for like two seconds and they never blew up anyways, but you definitely know that those barrels would be more than enough to take out that ship! LOL!
When they were presenting people they interviewing for DK, and there were no Heath Ledger, I forgot he died for a moment, I cried.
"..to do something better." And I used to be convinced every sequel was to show the worse. The Dark Knight proved it wrong.
Also, i don't think anyone expects Robin to show up as a little kid, but in his late teens or early 20's.

He also didn't give Gordon a daughter in TDK without knowing who she grows up to be.
Hopefully one day he'll get the recognition he deserves and win an Osc...
... oh. :o)
the definition of chaos is the joker
Man I really wish heath was still alive he was awesome
Well I can't and won't judge a person I haven't met personally (at least not in a negative way (and I just try to, I don't think I'm successful all the time...)), so it'll be quite hard for me to make up my mind concerning someone like him ;)
Thanks for answering btw. I'm always glad to get an answer that is.. well friendly and/or serious! :)
I automatically face-palmed myself when I noticed it
"None of that (stunts and explosions) means anything if it doesn't have a great story." Well said Christian Bale, tell that to the Christian Bale who was in Terminator 4: Rise of the Machines
6:59 noone wants to be batman forever
who else are gonna watch the two first "dark knight" movies before they head out to the theatre to watch dark knigt rises?
What is the music playing at 6:37?
Damn, I LOVE this movie!
The reason that the Joker is so believable as a Villain because he's human. He's so bad because he's hurting so much inside. He's a distorted monster.
Christian Bale changes accent about three times in this.
It's too bad that Heath wasn't alive at this point to do an interview for this :(.
I have the feeling this will be on the DVD
"He doesn't want to be Batman forever" He wants to be better than THAT movie!!
i love all of them. But you're right, the second one is the best
these guys spend thousands of hours making these movies and you want to hate on them? get a life man, this trilogy is amazing and a piece of art, they will be watched for many years to come just like any other amazing movie.
Lol, am I the only one that liked all 3 superhero movies that came out this Summer?
...I thought so...
My favorite out of the trilogy was Batman Begins, but thats just me I guess:)
such a shame heather couldn't share his story of "the joker" with us. rip HL
Could you imagine he kept his mustache and put on the bat suit it would look soooo weird!!!!
This movie would have been nothing without Heath Ledger. Heath is what made this movie better than all the other Batmans combined. And to think when I first heard he was cast as the Joker, I thought he was a bad choice!
I'm surprised that they used so much footage from the actual movie in this.
and christian and nolan and anne and oldman and all others who were in this legendary legacy
Like others have said. He has an English accent in real life but he always plays American characters so he always uses an American accent.
I wouldn't say Batman Begins was among the top super-hero movies of all time. Dark Knight sure as hell is though.
The fall of Harvey Dent still makes me sad everytime I watch this movie:(((((
The movie clips sound like they're taken from the first DVDRip to hit the net in '08, which was encoded like 5% too fast and everything was a little too fast and a little too high-pitched. lol
they altered his voice a little it wasn't originally that raspy but they wanted batman to seem more of a beast than a man in a costume
Oh, a little post script about Mask of the Phantasm. I like The Dark Knight more because its more entertaining and its live action, but it was a perfect adaption from the comics. Which is what I meant about it being a perfect Batman film.

I respect him deeply and really appreciate his performances!
I think in the third film, Bruce will find his replacement and, as predicted in this film, he will finally quit the cape.
Bane doesn't die, they just get him away, and the last film was more warfare like, bane gets gotham under control, fucks people up,shows em that batman wasn't a dark knight at all,and he gets betrayed by everyone, talia and catwoman even twice! But at all it was a pretty good movie i would give it a 9/4 outa 10

a instant classic a masterpiece the greatest comicbook flim of alltime..... well until the next one lol
