If anyone needs to hear this: this was not my experience of contractions. They took my focus, I had to breath and relax, but they were "do-able". Not going to sugar coat it, the pushing did hurt, but at least that's usually shorter and what gets you a baby :)

Oh wow! 6 to 8 hours of labor after the first. I'm planning on no epidural so I'm thankful for that time frame but that's super fast! Any mom's have a hard time mentally going that fast?
Oh also for a comment on the difference with the Netherlands and US. If you had a healthy delivery (no c-section) you are sent home 2 hours after delivery. If you have had diabetes in the pregnancy then they make you wait 24 hours to monitor the baby's blood sugar levels. They also have a system of maternity nurses (kraamzorg) to check on you and baby every day for the first week. And a midwife 2 or 3 times for the first week

39 weeks today and definitely wanting this baby out. One thing that does concern me is that I’ve had swelling consistently in my left leg and pain in my left hip that’s so bad I can barely walk. My ob keeps just chalking it up to pregnancy hormones and pain and never really talks to me about it. However, other than that she has been a rock star.
You have to be on them about it because some yt doctors dont listen to black women when they are expressing concern about things ! If you need to go get a second opinion from another hospital do it !!!

I’m in my third trimester and I’m so much pain! I’ve been back and forth from the hospital multiple times to get checked…. They just send me home. I don’t get why the medical community can’t take the pain of the mother into account…. Ok pain it means nothing till your in labor… but they need to give in with some pain relief while your actuality pregnant!
Second pregnancy, currently 37 weeks 2 days! Baby dropped 3 days ago and seems to continue to drop lower, and lower each day I wake-up! Also the lighting crotch has been happening VERY frequently!
I don't have swelling, but I definitely have numbness in my hands. OB says carpel tunnel and a brace should help, but no relief whatsoever and rhis has been going for WEEKS. 😭 I have little to no feeling in my hands but I'm 37 weeks so hopefully after labor it'll go away.
