Hey man! Really glad you started to upload videos again, they are some of the best Terra Mystica stuff on the internet. Keep it up and hope to see more.
Thanks for this. As already said, excellent analysis. Alchemists are one of my weaker races, this has inspired me to play them better. I definitely need to convert vps into coins more regularly!
Hey, really liked the video. I have a small suggestion: I think it would be really insightful to also add the resources the Record High Player had at the beginning of each round + the favors he had + The points at the beginning and end of each round. I don't think it would be that cumbersome to add to the display and it would provide a really interesting angle about how to use resources effectively and how to leverage bonuses at correct times.
Which player didn't get Earth one? From your Halflings game I can appreciate that they could have taken Earth two for the extra cube income. Or did the Dwarves lose out because while they were taking the single dig everyone else was grabbing Earth one? Looking forward to more of your videos!
Good call there Martin. Indeed the Halflings missed out on E1 and took E2 which gave them extra workers for the digging scoring round. Interestingly, Halflings after building their temple, could have taken E1 as it was still available. Halflings took the double dig power action on the following turn. Alchemists got both E1 and W1 scoring favour tiles during the game which were vital to convert that economy into points.
Excellent analysis, many thanks! It's all about picking the right faction and crafting the most suitable narrative. Looks so easy in hindsight, but we all know it isn't. Any idea how many vp's Khoj turned into coins during the game? Looking forward to your next dissection session!
29VP converted to coins in total throughout the game. 16 in R2, 3 in R3, 10 in R6 to complete the final town. I've been finding the Acolytes very useful recently. They offer flexibility on the board along with a formidable offensive ability and benefit easily from cult bonuses. Many players are not familiar with how to play them, so they often don't get picked.
Guessing the faction here is going to be harder than usual. R4 dig calls for anything BUT Giants, Mermaids, Nomads and Fakirs. Both opposite color picks seem doable, but... Grey building BOTH SA and SH that early is very unlikely. The same could be said for green, tho... So it is probably a neighbor black pick (you don't want halflings paying for cheap spades), since black tolerate sandwiching and are not that bad of a nonopp pick. I'd say it seems possible to do a Swarmlings game and a Chaos Magicians game too, but second seat is slightly too early usually, for both factions (and risky for CMs). Darklings is (basically always) possible here, but so is Alchemists. Alchemists have better r4 but a harder earlier game if under r1 SH start. Both can be done... I'd not be able to guess which of those would fair better tho. With the tips, it got clear it was Alchemists, BUT I'd like to observe a TE+D opener is INSANE. That is a very bold lack of structures. I'm impressed. I'd usually expect a r1 with TE+3D or 4. It is a very counter intuitive move. And he only did that because of picking BON8. VERY WELL THOUGHT. So he passed early, got FAV11 and managed to have enough income for r2 and 3. This. Was. Huge. r2 was also incredible. He managed ACT6 and ACT2. This is RARELY possible. At this point it is really hard competing with Alchemists. Only CMs can cut them off.

Very good analysis. I don't think I would have ever thought of that round 2 play

Just in the process of making the next video. It should have a little more detail.
