- Tonight we camp in our backyard where coyotes, owls, bunnies, shrews and all kinds of animals roam! It's a last-minute trip, but we're making it happen 😜 My initial plan was to sleep alone, but Mommy Oh joins with her hammer as protection (she almost brought a cooking pan instead lol). To be honest, I do get a little anxious sleeping in a tent outdoors (I feel vulnerable, especially as a non-muscular woman), so any company is much appreciated!
We set up tent near the machete man's path, then roast sweet potatoes and grill Chicken Sausage & Veggie Skewers. And of course, no camping is complete without some s'mores! We make our own version using crispy chocolate chip cookies and marshmallow. Oh boy, was it tasty. I highly recommend this combo. Watch the video to see the full experience :)

Wow! It looks like you live in a secluded area. I'd love to build a home in an area like that but I'll always be anxious and the machete man story of yours just sent shivers down my spine😅 .
if i ever see someone with a machete I would lock the doors and windows and run to my room lock the door and window and with a phone if I need to call Mom or my grandparents and if my sister is here too I would tell her that to never go outside at night

LOVED this video. I am a big fan of Mommy Oh. The moisture on the inside tent poles was condensation from your breath. We exhale a lot of moisture, and it is warmer inside the tent than the outside air, so it condenses. In frozen climates they will get ice inside their tents from condensation. I lived by myself in the middle of five acres in the woods. I had deer, coyotes, raccoons, dogs, snakes, possums, and the occasional wandering farmer’s steer. The animals that would normally be in your area are aware of your presence and stay away because of that. Eventually they would get used to you if you started living out there, like they did me over the course of years. Then they come around, but they come in peace. Wild animals are actually safe.

I learned from campers, the footprint=tarp under the tent is to protect the floor of the tent. The footprint needs to be smaller than floor of the tent, to prevent rain from catching and pooling under the tent.
The shelf inside the tent is for your headlights.

I live in a camper on my parent's property which often has coyotes hanging around it at night so I understand the fear, they sound beautiful though. Bad side, skunks hang around too lol

Bought a tent about 10 years ago. It is still in the box, sealed. I keep it preciously for the day that I will feel the call of the nature! I also always sleep with ear plugs. I am light sleeper and I sleep just under Godzilla. My neighbors on the second floor are quite large and each of their steps is making their floor crack so I can't sleep without ear plugs. What a giant outdoor tub you have!

Your backyard camping was so delightful with you and your Mom enjoying nature sounds, BBQ skewers, sweet potatoes, and s'mores. During the first year of the pandemic's lockdown, I put up my tent in my apartment's living room. I listened to rain falling on tent/RUclips on my computer, enjoyed snacks and magazines and imagined myself camping at my favorite campsite near Rialto Beach/Olympic Peninsula. Jenny
