Did you have issues with it recording audio only? I have the same camera and it's just recording a black screen - even though I do see the video. Very odd.
is there a way of creating a shortcut so I can just double click it and it opens the camera stream? Or do I have to do this process every time I want to stream it? thank you!
Just a note that on Linux Mint the current system package version 3.0.16 of VLC fails to work with this method, but the flatpak version 3.0.20 onwards works fine.

I feel like I'm so close! I can get my camera streaming just fine when I open the stream, but after 'Converting' it only saves the audio. There's no video track when I view the saved video in VLC but the audio does playback. I have the Tapo C200 camera.

It didn't work for me on my C120, but I can see the RTSP stream on OBS using the same URL scheme.

If you are using sd card and tapo cloud service at same time, doesn't work. You need tp take it off the sd card.
