I found your video while searching for a tutorial to set up a TAPO C110 camera. It worked perfect. I have it installed in Home Assistant. Thank you very much. The VLC player test worked great.
Thanks for this video. It only took me a few minutes to get my camera up-and-running in Home Assistant. I am using the Tapo C110, which is a non-panning, budget model (under USD30, AUD50, GBP30 at the time of writing (July 22). Excellent quality and features at this budget.
Great vid. I can't find that camera on this side of the pond, but we do have a TP-Link KC110 model which looks decent enough. I'm new to Home Assistant. Showing this in a clean install was perfect. I managed to get Home Assistant working with my 2 Mitsubishi "Mr. Slims" AC units. That was enough for me to get hooked. This "baby step" approach was perfect. Thank you.
If the camera has a pan/tilt function like the Tapo C500, is it possible to have access to that functionality? or can that only be done through the phone app?
very nice video. please answer following questions as i am planning to buy this camera 1.If my wifi/internet is not available ,will it continue recording on SD card?? 2.if i switch off my camera for some reason, and when switch on again, will it connect to wifi automatically when available?? and will it start recording on SD card from the time i switch it on again. i mean would it have recording available of the time b4 switching off and will it record again when it is switched on whether wifi available or not. 3.What is the angle(area covered in degrees) it cover when it's position is fixed?? 4.Can we see live video or access the camera through app on more than 1 mobile, suppose 2 or family member wanna see the recording if other family member is not available? 5.Can we download old recording from memory card to our mobile using application . please try answer pointwise. thanks in adavance
Thanks for the great informative video. What are the laptop computer specifications that will work for linking the Tapo C210? E.g. Windows 10, i5 or i7 processor, etc??
Thank you for the video. My tp-link id is my email address, but I don't think VLC likes the @ in the username. Do you know if I can log into the camera using VLC with an email address as the username?
Hey Lee! Nice video. I figured out how to watch my livestream (through VLC) on my PC through the account they want us to make and the 544 port but I am now wondering about saving fotoage to a Cloud system. Have you given it nay thoughts or do you know how I would go about? The Tapo app lack such a feature wich is sad, one would think TP-Link would have it integrated cause of their reputation but not. Apparently they have a whole other Camera line for Cloud based services (called TP link-Cloud) lol. Wish I could save the for example 48hours of footage online and have it overwrite itself automatically in case someone steals the camera from my home. (I have yet to create any Homeassistant/hub if that is necessary, right now I'm just looking for ideas..) Cheers!
Hi, your video is great and it help me to setup one of my C210 but i dont find the way to add the other two cam that I have. Can you please advise if there is anything else can be done. Thanks in advance
Nice one Lee, good tip on using VLC to check the stream could save lots of pain later on as you say, my .yaml file is getting bigger and bigger so I do prefer to check stuff first before tinkering with it! If you don’t mind me asking what you running HA on? Is that the cause of the delay? Thinking of getting a Pi v4 4gb to boost my HA a bit as it’s flagging on a Pi v3 now
Thanks Adrian. I'm currently running on a pi V3 but also think of the update. The dealt was also present in VLC running on my windows machine but not as noticeable. Could be the kick I need to upgrade 🤔
Today I bought, installed and integrated the camera into your home assistant according to your instructions and everything works! thank you for the tutorial and video.
Ive successfully installed my tapo c210 on HA, controls and sensors work fine but I get no streaming at all. Don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Notice my HA is remotely hosted on a VPS so maybe that's the issue.
has anything changed since updates to Tapo or HA? Tapo C200 HV 3.0 | FW 1.3.0 HA 2022.11.5 I can get a feed streaming in VLC but once I set up the camera via config.yml I keep getting grey box with a disconnected symbol in the middle.
Thanks for sharing but why did you do the raw text edit config at 13 minutes rather then do it in the normal card at 11minutes, just made it more complex. Cheers P.s. turn on advanced controls for your user, always best to do a ‘Check Config’ after editing the yaml files before doing the restart. Don’t ask me how I know that! 😢
Hi Shaun. I just find that when adding extra function to a card that is not part of the preconfigured settings the raw editor is easier to use. Each to there own. You are correct a check config is always a good idea too.
Mário Bevilaqua It had to change brand cause of idle answer from this youtube creator! 🤯 Sad you cant answer... then you dont get ant followers either!
Thanks greatly for the review. TP-Link say in their Support Info that if using Google Home to view the stream duration is limited to a maximum tiime of 10 minutes then you need to restart the stream. Does the same apply in Home Assistant ?
Hi how can i view this camera remotely please? I have the same one and cant view the camera from a separate location only within the houses network that the camera is connected too but i would like to share my stream to friends computers
I have the C110. I have it sitting in a window pointed out into the yard. It works really well during the daylight. But at night the reflection in the glass from the ir lights blinds everything. Does anyone know a way to tell the camera to not turn on the ir lights at night?
Add a second camera to configuration.yaml: - platform: ffmpeg name: tapo_c100_Garage input: rtsp://garage:pw_garage@ip_garage:554/stream1 - platform: ffmpeg name: tapo_c100_Carport input: rtsp://carport:pw_carport@ip_carport:554/stream1

There is a integration for the Tapo camera’s which allow you to add as many as you want. Install with HAC’S then into integrations and search for tapo.

Fantastic, I got my C310's integrated in no time following this vid. Many thanks.

nice how-to video. How about of the stream... can it save it on home assistant or on some mounted drive ?
Easy to install. Bright as ever.

Can I put my tapo on tv view so I can see it on tv aswel
And how do I do it
Does this require any cloud setup to get to that point where you can extract the rtsp url? I try to avoid any vendor cloud environment if possible.
There is a way you can add to HA and then take away the cloud function...........search in the HA forum for Tapo integration.

Have you or anyone else setup a TP-LINK Tapo C320WS with home assistant ?
How would I add a second tapo camera?
Add a second camera to configuration.yaml:

input: rtsp://garage:pw_garage@ip_garage:554/stream1
- platform: ffmpeg
name: tapo_c100_Carport

probably an issue with yaml syntax. be very careful about line breaks and indentation. even one space could ruin the file
