It's been many years since I changed the air filter on my old 2003 FJR but, IIRC, it should take about 15 minutes. And, for those of you who think that is too long, a Goldwing is about 3 hours at the dealer. To me, that is a problem in the design. One thing that was a near joy with the FJR was the ease of doing an oil and filter change. The location of the drain and filter is the gold standard in a motorcycle designed to be easily serviced.
Your video was nice and clear, step by step. Appreciate you sharing your experience with us and the amazon filter link. Time for me to change my filter. 👍
Watching this the second time, wish I could come by to look over you shoulders. Great teacher for a learning by doing guy like me. Can you show how to take the wheels out on the ground without a bike lift and change the brake pads? Looks like a nightmare for a newbie to FJR.
To get your rear wheel a bit higher of the ground, place a piece of wood underneath the centre stand, with the help of a friend. That gives a few more cm for the rear wheel. 😉👍🏻👊🏻
@@TheOldMechanic Tks for your speedy reply. But i have to mention: I am 70 years old and lifting the FJR is not possible. It would take 3 strong guys and I live alone with my wife in the woods.
Can you get the bike on the centre stand by yourself if so your wife just has to line the piece of wood up directly under the centre stand then with her hand you should be able to lift the bike like normal up onto the stand if you are close by I could definitely give you a helping hand good luck with it all
Just did this not long ago and the old filter was pretty dirty - VERY satisfying to change it with a fresh new one 😀 Did I mention I love your videos and LOVE my 2007 FJR?
High quality work. Maybe it would be worth releasing some of the connectors there, or the grips of the wire loom? Because this job went hard. Well done for the great patience, admirable!!! P.S. Naughty spider at-6:29
Hi I actualy cutted a lot of the time getting the filter out..and in again.. LOLLL. One thing I try to teach people is allways stay calm and if it doesn't work one way, just use another way..
@@TheOldMechanic You work really well, and the fact that you share with us a real fact, and faults that happen to all of us, and also to professional mechanics like you. As much fun as it is (LOL), it also helps us all feel better about our mistakes. It's really nice that you keep yourself calm, it's inspiring. Thank you very much for the interesting video workshop that you upload to your channel.
Ik gebruik ze in elk geval op mijn motorfietsen. Niet zomaar een Philips nemen, want die slippen door. Vessel is het merk. En op een vessel impacta mag je kloppen.
After seeing this, my 2008 Kawasaki Concours 1400 is a lot easier. Have seen the same job on the latest generation Gold Wing, and that looks nasty. Acres of Tupperware. Their predecessors are no better. Can change the engine air filter on my car in about 3 minutes. So you likely will have to pay $300 to change an air filter on a Gold Wing.

Just changed air filter to my 2003 FJR. It seemed much easier compared to this generation of FJR in the video.
Mine has less wiring in the way.
👍🏻👊🏻😉

Great job as always. Pain in the a** these newer bikes. Love the work you do.
Randy
Thanks Randy 👍🏻👊🏻
Good thing you don't own a Goldwing ( I'm assuming ). They are a 3 hour job at the dealers. The time for mere mortals like you and me ???
I am just about to do this so thank you for the informative video its very helpful I love your videos keep up the good work 😃
You can do it!
looks like this might be your first time to change the filter. definitely a tedious task; but necessary maintenance. thanks...
I now did it twice but its still a bit of a hassle 😂
Very good videos you are doing.
Bonjour vous n'avez pas une vidéo sur le changement de démarreur par hasard ? 😇
Non, pas pour le moment, désolé
Все понятно и без перевода, спасибо за ваше видео! И привет вам из России.

When it is really, really difficult, speaking some Dutch helps 😂

De kruiskop schroef is toch JIS kruis schroeven draaier?
