To be honest... There was something with C... when it came on, those dreamy sounds were a little bit more clarity to it while the 808 didnt sound as good as but the overall sound stood out just a bit more than A and B...
Knock was definitely my favorite. It felt more 3D and more coherent than Glue. Glue just felt a little all over the place compared to Knock. Soft clip wasn't even in the conversation.
All three of them sound good: The Fruity Soft Clipper was crisp and perfect The Knock Clipper made it sound a bit wider, brighter, and more distorted. The Glue Compressor sounded like the Knock Clipper, but with more distortion and a bit less punch (transience).
Soft clip is great for getting peaks softened across the whole dynamic range. Which sounds bad for the master. But awesome on hi hats and cymbals. Skrillex uses this trick. Freeclip before the limiter is the best combo on the master. Try the quintic mode and use it to turn down overlapping transients. It has 32x oversample. All your transients should be the same level before going into the limiter.
LUFS were at -7 on all three. It must be the way they tweaked the clipping algorithm to work. It definitely handles low end in a different way. It’s the exact same 32 bit wav for all 3 with no other effects.
I go back and forth on the two but in my last test I found that I greatly prefer the sound of the Glue Compressor soft clipper. I found that Saturator is too harsh for my taste even with the drive at 0. Honestly I was surprised to find out they don’t null. They are quite different. Again though it’s just personal preference and I know a lot of producers prefer Saturator.
Try the digital clip mode in Saturator and activate the softclipping button. I found that this works actually much better than any other mode within Ableton Saturator (every other mode just distorts too much).
@@kylechumchalI came wondering about Saturator… and you’re talking with the High Quality option turned off right? And I guess Color Limiter doesn’t have a clipper on it… But I just started using it for limiting rather than Ableton stock Limiter and my tracks sound way better, pretty sure thats why!
« Do you expect me to trust a Man Whos last name is CAP’ That shit had me in tears lmaooo Anyways that Plugin is a gem frfr, I have the whole knock plug-in and I use it on every beat 👌🏾
It was about 15 on the clip knob, about 30 on the soft/hard mix, and hq on. Now that I have used it more I found that I like it about 50-75 on the soft/hard mix for most things.
I wouldn’t compare it with fruity soft clipper or the glue compressor clipper. Something like Kclip or Saturate would likely beat knock, especially since they offer more visuals and settings. 15$ is definitely overpriced, considering freeclip exists
I haven’t looked into either of those plugins so I will have to check them out. The reason I chose Fruity Soft Clipper and Glue Compressor is because both are used often by rap producers to clip the master which is what I was doing here. Really appreciate the insight though and I’m excited to look into those clippers too!
@@philiphopper4885 full plugin is probably more worth it, even though a rack could be made for free and better. The clipper seems like a scam to me imo. Would never use it on a master or mix bus
I just wanna know how much you got paid to put on a plug-in chain that you can super easily recreate with literally any other plug-in, even native. This is a solid business to get into, I reckon. Must’ve got paid a decent chunk. Kclip for drums, standardclip for master. you’re welcome
I got paid negative 15 dollars 😂 I bought it cause I was curious. Just sharing my findings with others. I also ended up purchasing standard clip cause people recommended it and I really like it.
Which clipper was your favorite?
B!!!

B immediately
You and me both 🫡

I felt the same way about Knock. And the nice thing is that it can be dialed in even more. Definitely a solid clipper.
As a logic user, I can say that there's nothing that sounds like a fruity soft clipper, the VST is so precious. Yall better appreciate it. lol
this lol. i tried so many. best results are T-racks soft clipper, standardCLIP + Logic stock Overdrive kinda grew on me
Apparently gold clip can get in the ballpark (for $250 lol)
@ezrashanti Man for that price I’m just gonna buy FL and bounce the 32 bit wav with soft clipper after I am done producing in Ableton.
All three of them sound good:
The Fruity Soft Clipper was crisp and perfect
The Knock Clipper made it sound a bit wider, brighter, and more distorted.
The Glue Compressor sounded like the Knock Clipper, but with more distortion and a bit less punch (transience).
DECAP IS THE MAN! Nice to meet you man 1th time i came across your channel, good luck! now lets hear DECAP clipper in action :]
Appreciate you checking it out ‼️
Glue Compressor sounds Crisp 🤌
Def B and C I was digging also

@@kylechumchal if you use this advice give me a shout out.
Did you match the LUFS of each clip? B sounds like the low end got a bit of extra gain..

was B the knock clipper? Because B was the best by miles
Yup! B is knock clipper
I noticed b right away! C was close though
Use ableton saturator for soft clipper I promise you’ll love it

Love the content bro
Ye i pick knock too on blind test but i still love fl clippers weird PUNCHYNESS
Fruity soft clipper has a great punch to it! I love it
Great comparison video, you got my sub !
Appreciate you ‼️
0:00 I thought you were about to say "I am Barack Obama." 🤣🤣🤣
Fire beat bro!
Thank you ‼️
I lilked B. C. A.
A sounded old, C sounded too distorted, B had cleaner transients and cool grittiness to me
How does it compare to the free Apogee clipper?

It’s actually $30 when not on sale.
I will say, the full Knock plug-in is the most used plugin I own. That thing is well worth the price imo.

For an actually accurate rundown on oversampling, take what homie here said with one singular grain of salt. Check Dan Worral for more information.
