Dude, you HAVE to listen to the full album and react to it. Each and every song is close to a masterpiece 😊
*insert posing Shia LaBeouf meme* DO IT!
@@sarakaster *Bearded Shia Labeouf clapping*
Another vote for the whole album here!
Between Jinjer and TOOL, you're doing it right. 🙂
Also coming here for Tool and Jinjer
Yep, please do Tool! Been a Tool fan since the beginning and Jinjer for about 3 years. Your Jinjer vids were awesome!
Would love to revisit the album Vicariously (see what I did there :) ) with someone who has so much passion for, and technical understanding of music.
Only thing is. Penuma is the next one on the list and whilst you probably would want to go with the studio version, you absolutely must see (if only personally) the Danny Carey drum cam vid for Pneuma live.
A couple of interesting points:
1) Maynard sings "mitosis" at exactly the halfway point in the song.
2) They wrote this *before* the pandemic, like some sort of prophecy.
Enjoy the rest of the album.
In my opinion Maynard isn't referring to Covid he's referring to fear being a disease that is used to control people's way of thinking and eradicating that fear. This was written around the time Trump was spewing his filth about immigrants being criminals and rapists. Read the lyrics carefully.
-The Deceiver says, “You belong to me. You don’t wanna breath the light of the others.
Fear the light. Fear the breath. Fear the others for eternity.”
But I hear them now. Inhale the clarity. I hear the venom in what you say.
Inoculated.
Bless this immunity.-
@@johnwilson1794 still suffering from TDS? Poor guy....
right in two...
Descending is my favorite song from this album and probably my favorite Tool song in the pantheon of Tool, never get tired of listening to it. Danny Carey owns my soul, ha, the drums in Tool just take me to another dimension. (Not to disparage the rest of the band, they are all the GOAT!)
Descending, Invincible and Fear Inoculum all on the same album is crazy. I don't hear many talk about Fear Inoculum but its one of my favourites. Great opener for this album to lay out the kind of stuff to expect
I’m only half way through this video but whatever inclinations you may have regarding Tool and this channel - all I can say is “Yes, please.”
Yes, absolutely do the full album. You’ve come this far, you may as well.
Notice how Jinjer and Tool have a similar lineup (3 instruments/vocal) and they also write songs similar (Instrumentation first and vocals last).
Both bands in my top 5 right now.
Subbed for the ride. The next song Pnuema brought tears to my eyes when I first heard it. Not a sad note but as a music lover, you know what I mean.
I would love a full album review! I haven't listened to this whole album yet, either. I was waiting to listen until I could get it on vinyl, but I think it's clear there won't be an official release on vinyl anytime soon. Also on a side note, since you brought up APC, if you haven't checked out Pusicfer yet you definitely should! Obviously a completely different experience but Maynard and Carina Round's vocals really compliment each other. Thanks again for what you do! EDIT: The newest APC album is pretty good as well. And if you keep talking about how old you are, you'll keep making me feel old, too! 😂
Lol sorry about that, Roxy! One of my pupils asked me if she could guess my age the other week, and when she said 27 I was flattered! But I advised her to get a check up with the optometrist. Have yet to check out Puscifer!
@@JWSoundworks2 I'll be 35 soon but my 30's have been fun so I can't complain. Just giving you a hard time! It's nice to connect with people who have similar experiences with music when they were younger. It was a good time!
@@roxyrichter6654 my 30s have been the best years of my life so far, hands down!
If it makes you feel better, I was an adult before TOOL were even a band.
OGT 93 here, was a 15 year old at the time. Recorded the Sober video on a TDK cassette
I’ve always felt like Tool is a melding of Sabbath, Zeppelin, and Floyd, but in a way that isn’t contrived or derivative of them at all. Just that level of cool.
Yes full album please! It would be cool to do it like you did the Jinjer series.
Your insight is terrific! I love hearing real musicians dive into Tool's music. You will love this album, it's a masterpiece.
Oh yes! I was wondering what your Tool story is. Can’t wait for you to go through the “Fear Innoculum” album one by one….
I honestly wouldn’t mind if you do a re-visit of some older Tool stuff like Lateralus as well and hear your take/analysis nowadays.
Been a big tool fan since the 90’s, but lately have been listening a lot to Jinjer, mostly thanks to your enthusiasm for them.
Keep it going.
Please, react to the whole album, especially Descending and 7empest.
Great reaction as ever.
Think a couple have mentioned how Adam gets the 'bowed' sound. Just a volume swell. He'll either go with vol pot, but more often it's via pedal as obviously more control that way.
What I love about Adam:
His 'less is more' approach. The fact that whilst his riffs are often initially very simple, he employs lots of neat little techniques and time signature switches which ebb and flow but totally hook you in.
He's an absolute tone master - with a sound to die for.
A guitarist totally comfortable stepping back and being the beat whilst drums or bass drive the melody. A guitarist who can keep perfect time on his own is pretty rare!
I think we all can agree, we’d love an analysis of their entire discography. ❤️
Yes. Full album. Yes. I watch a lot of reaction videos and I love the way you can see exactly what you're feeling while you hear this for the first time. If only I could go back and hear it for the first time again....
Your intro had me subbing so fast. Yes, please do more Fear Inoculum. It’s quite the journey and I’m here for it.
Whole album ... yes please
Tool army, checking in
You're ability to interpret and to explain is excellent. You absolutely need to do each song!
You-"let me say something"
Me-spits out coffee.
Love it
Such a refreshing reaction. It was only last year that I came across reflection & with this album I am only up to descending, all in good time I reckon. I'd love to see more reactions to this album please, we would really appreciate it ✌
Im so excited to see you react to this entire album! ♥
You have a really good ear. You will fully appreciate this album. There is SO much to hear.
The instrument in the intro that’s been transposed on the mandala drums is the tabla. Danny Carey is a trained tabla player himself. And likes to include that in his compositions often. Tabla is an Indian Cultural musical instrument.
I’m here for the whole Album review brother! You haven’t even scratched the surface of this album yet lolGreat reaction!
OUTSTANDING can’t wait for more
yes whole album pls
(edit: the guitar and bass are just using volume swells for the intro)
Great reaction as ever John, bring the album review on!
I love your reference to Black Sabbath and simple riffs, I know what you mean. The only non-simple stuff is Danny’s insane drums and time signatures and Maynard lyrics and phrasings.
Definitely react to this whole album. I enjoyed your reactions to Wallflowers and always learn from your analysis and insights. I greatly appreciate your hard work in making these videos.
yes!!!!!!
Yes, listen to the whole album.
Would definitely enjoy your reaction to the rest of the album.
yes. album review . (volume knob swells used) spiral out ;-)
Absolute killer reaction John. This album singlehandedly got me back into music after it dropped after a long break. I'm going to really enjoy your reactions to this album. Buckle up. Tool never, ever disappoints!
Dude so after the like 15 years between fear innoculum and 10,000 days.. I heard this song and just tears. Wasn't expecting that at all.
Hey bud, here for the rest of Fear Inoculum reaction, you should/please do the APC's Eat the Elephant album as well, very good stuff there from Maynard!...sounds like you are very talented , glad I found you thank you!
Thank you, Daniel!
You made this very interesting and fun. I appreciate your breakdown very much man.

Actually I think I remember Maynard saying in a Joe Rogan interview once that they all record there parts in separate locations and splice it together. But I agree it does sound live, props to the engineer.
BTW... you explain this song so wonderfully, ty
YES, you have to react to this whole album and share 🤘🏻
I am in! Let's go through the entire album!
Danny uses some custom Mandala drum pads to get those different instrument sounds you mention.
I'd love to see your whole album reaction! As great as this song is, it's really just an appetizer for the main course.
Sorry for the multiple comments, I'm reacting as I watch. 😁
I'm sure you've gotten suggestions for this many times, but when you get to Pnuema, there's a live drum cam version that is definitely worth a watch.
@@MaraxisArcanist so true, it’s just an appetizer 😅
Do the entire album. After you do Pneuma check out the Danny drum cam video for that song. Spiral out!
As an orthopedic surgeon who has been riveted by Tool since Sober, I have struggled with this album until I discovered your analysis. Thank you for opening up my mind and soul to the album. It is my favorite.
This is an absolutely unique album from them, it glows with happiness. React to every song please.
Nice one dude! Always fun to watch someone experience some Tool for the first time, especially when you already have a history there, and you are clearly into your music. This is a perfect introduction to the album, I just didn't know it when I first heard it :) I'll be here watching more with you!
Definitely do the whole album! It's soooooo Good
I always come back to your videos! Love them!❤
I usually don't like reaction videos very much, but I stumbled upon yours and I really liked it. Your comments are really thoughtful! You should definitely react to the whole album, I'd love to see it
So perfect it "already existed or came from somewhere else" ...but actually took four geniuses 20 years to create. Truth is so much more fascinating than mystery. Thanks for doing Tool. Your reacts are great (found you thru ClownC0re lol) and so is your music. Cheers man.
enjoyed. Chills, yes, and when Maynard sings "exhale expel" omg it's the gates of heaven.
Adam is turning a knob on his guitar for that effect. seen it up close and personal.
That's what I thought. That's what I meant by "violining". Nice!
Really loved your reaction to this. I will be seeing the rest! You think about music like me, I can tell, and I love that.
I really honed in on your analysis about the simplicity. A LOT of what Tool does is incredibly simple in construction, at least from a sense of fingering and/or number of notes being used. What makes it TOOL and thus what elevates it is the arrangement of it all, the use of unusual and unorthodox time signatures, and, as you said, the "decoration" of it all, being so artistically and tastefully chosen and executed. That is what I love about Tool.

sick commentary and reaction
Earned a subscriber with your invincible reaction. Keep this up. Love it!
Loved your description of them intrinsically being simple riffs but making the most of it. The other band that I feel does that best us Pink Floyd. Excellent review, got my subscription.
I have listened to ever track on this album hundreds of times and every single time i hear something new, it is a masterpiece.
Also i have watched many, many reaction videos too and your's is by far the most enjoyable mate, thank you for taking the time to do them.
Loved the reaction; and laughed when you mentioned Mer De Noms, i wrote my entire Masters thesis listening to it on repeat.
The percussive element is a tabla sample on some electronic drum pads, so it’s being played with sticks rather than with bare hands.
I think all tool fans will enjoy a full album reaction, you’ve recently become my favorite reaction RUclips channel your musical knowledge is by far the easiest to digest ! Cheers mate
React to more tool please ! You will blow up! You know how good it is already, hope to see your journey !
Out of all the reactors on the platform, for me, you are the best one. Love how you feel the music and the way you speak of it. You are GREAT at explaining music, great insight.
Thank you, Luka. Very kind of you to say so! 👍🤘
God damn dude you’re good.
Do it! This album is PROFOUND. You'll shit yourself.
Good thing we have extra nappies in the house. 🤘
@@JWSoundworks2 🤣
Well that won't be very pleasant! Especially while he's trying to entertain us, the Tool army.
I like how your journey is very similar to mine, I also started at the Lateral came out and I also only checked out 10 000 days and Aenema. I wanted to check out the other albums for years but somehow never did - and now I'm afraid, that, since it's their earlier work that I'm not going to like it which is stupid but yea ...
Whenever Fear Inoculum was announced I got very excited and when the released the Song early (the song, not the album) I already listened to it and liked it very much. I think the album is an absolute work of art and and I've listend to it countless times since it came out.
The only thing that bothers me is my ability to convert friends and family into tool fans. I do know 2-3 people who enjoy Tool but not because of me, they've discovered it on their own.
Ah well - Tool will probably stay my ol' reliable band forever ... I do enjoy other bands and genres but I will always come back to Tool whenever I actually "need" music in my life, not just to distract me or have some noice while doing other things. Listening to music where the listening to music is the main activity.
has no one else noticed that at 5:05 he described the great turn by alex grey which is associated with the album
Your reaction and analysis is on point and extremely interesting.
Just subscribed. Whole album! U will love it
Also liked ur gojira reaction. Keep it up bro
Please do more Tool! Love your insight!
Love the way you describe their music...sophisticated simplicity. Brilliant! I'm up for a full album review.
The production value on this album is going to blow your mind. Be sure to react to pneuma, THEN watch the vic firth drum cam vid of the same song live. You'll lose your mind. Honestly. Don't bother listening to anything else other than this album for a while, there's little point. It's a life changer.
Oh yes, please do the whole album!! You will not regret it, and like all Tool albums you are in for a journey. I'm happy to join you, it's been a while since I gave it a full listen.
The organic nature of the composition gives me a similar feeling to when listening to some classical pieces.
Cheers
GREAT analysis!
Fun fact probably most people know: the word 'Mitosis' is spoken at exactly halfway through the song
Really loved your comments, very informative, I enjoyed this! And, yes, please do the rest of the album!!!
Please do the full album!
Just discovered your channel and I'm really enjoying it. Tool is one of my favorite bands of all time - I've been listening since my buddy gave me a copy of Undertow in 1996. Given the fact that you listen to everything and enjoy classical, I would suggest reacting to Punch Brothers if you have never heard them. They are an incredibly talented band - bluegrass instrumentation, but they are far from a bluegrass band. They do play bluegrass, but also pop, jazz, rock, and classical. The song Familiarity is must listen. I definitely think you would appreciate it!
Hello from NJ USA, been a fan of Tool for 30 years now...and @ 54 yo, they are the most cerebral and immersive band I've ever experienced, In a world filled with music they sound like no one and no one sounds like them......there is no one else like that...they are the goat! Also...a VERY cool note....Maynard says the word MITOSIS at the exact halfway point of the song.....you know he knew it!
Phenomenal analysis. Yes, REACT TO THE FULL ALBUM. 🤣
If you don't end up listening to the whole album, then as a guitarist, you'd appreciate 7empest and Descending the most, IMO, as Adam Jones just goes OFF in face-melting solo after solo.
Great stuff, and hope there's more coming!
That drum you asked about is called a thabla. Its an indian drum. Usually played with the bottom of your palm and each finder. Also usually played in free form.
Danny also studied under a thabla master for a while from what I've read.
This album is a masterpiece
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Helps me appreciate the music even more.
Danny's kit sounds like an old tractor just putting along... What a monster drummer.
Great reaction, and agree with the other here that a full album reaction would be great. The entire album is a masterpiece from start to finish, with some of the best drumming I've ever heard
still come back to your reactions haha
must not moooove on!!
Love your info about the music, i’m not a musician so i dont understand tempo and D minor shit. Its appreciated man. Cheers friend!✌️🇨🇦🤘
Yes. Absolutly album review!!!
Nice review! I´d love to see reaction on the whole album aswell!
Just to add, if you do the whole album, when you do Pneuma, please consider doing the video of Danny Carey playing it live. It's from Vic Firth.
I would LOVE to see more Tool on your channel 🌀🤘
Billy Howerdel (aperfectcircle) is actually coming out with an album next year
I’m surprised you haven’t listened to Opiate and Undertow either, both of those are stellar. Raw and experimental. Enjoying what you’re bringing to your reactions, keep ‘em comin 🤙
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. REACT TO THE WHOLE ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait hahaha
You are seriously brilliant 🙏
Thank you!
This Album is alot of Dana Carey and his drumming. Absolutely amazing
Yeah really good, really detailed review too.
This album is great. Gets better everytime I repeat a song too. Classic Tool feels.
My favorite album of all time! I'm not young.
