I like to think of it as, the messenger god decided to take a vacation from us for a while, and all communications go crazy, and harmless universal practical jokes start to be played on people for the messenger gods amusement. At the end of the retrograde, everything turns to normalcy again, and we all realize just how much we need the messenger god in our lives.
