I think the story structure of the game is really purposeful and to rearrange it so it would be in chronological order and to switch perspectives back and forth with Ellie and Abby would be a disservice to the story. What makes the opening so compelling is that we don’t know who Abby is or why she killed Joel. So we’re on board with Ellie hunting her down in Seattle. We’re put in her shoes so when the switch happens and we start to follow Abby it really disorients the audience and makes us question our perspective on the characters.
Totally possible! I just don't know if HBO trusts audiences to come back for an entire season of a character they hate. I'm not sure if it translates to film like it does to game, but we will see!
@@pixel8ted That is a good point! I’m not sure how they’ll get around that. But making Abby more likable from the beginning kinda feels like an easy out for the character and I think the story is meant to be challenging.
You're right. In fact, I'm already telling you that it's going to be like that. Season 2 will adapt Ellie's entire journey in Seattle. We will only see Abby at the beginning and end of the season. They will follow the narrative structure of the game very faithfully.New stories will be added through both Ellie and Abby's journeys, but Abby's story will be told in season 3.
Starting with Abby's dad's death would be terrible for the story telling because the point of the beginning of the game is for the audience to be on Ellie's side at first on her revenge mission without feeling any empathy for what Abby went through. The audience is meant to despise Abby until tidbits of her backstory start getting revealed.
That's a fair point! I just think getting people to side with Abby won't work by withholding that. Not being able to force the audience to play as her I think will require some sympathy from the beginning, but maybe I'm wrong!
Yeah, but for TV they need different structure. They cant do the Joel-Abby scene in the first half hour. They need to save it for the nasty cliff hanger at end of a long duration episode. Those above from technical perspective. Substantially, Imo as a team Joel, I think the structure on the game isnt that strong enough to turn me into team Abby. The hit are too hard for me to even giving a crap about what Abby coming from. Maybe with this it will be softer hit and easier to swing some of us to Abby side, since they tell us Abby side first.
Even with her backstory, Abby is unlikeable. I really think people who geniuenly like Abby are sociopaths themselves. She got her revenge, tortured Joel without saying to him why, she betrayed her friends and killed them. I couldn‘t imagine Ellie starting to kill people in Jackson. The writing was so weird for Abby. I wish the good writers from part 1 were around for the second game.
I know they'll probably change the sequence they show events but ideally I'd love the first scene to show Abby's flashback in the zoo and cut off right where they show the hospital, I feel like it would capture so much dread that the start of part 2 has without giving away too much of the plot straight away
Cold open on Abby with her dad. Everything's fine. And then we see the hospital in the distance and we're like "What, what am I looking at that -- WAIT. OH NO" and then before we jump to the credits and it's 4 years later. Ellie's doing stuff around Jackson and then at the end of Episode 1 Abby shows up again and we're like "Who IS this lady? This can't be good"
I agree that alternating between Ellie and Abby's stories would be best. However I don't think that's going to happen in Season 2. I have seen many videos and photos of Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced on set in BC. I haven't seen any of Kaitlyn Dever on set.
I can say, as a non-player, but someone who watched the first season, the way the game did it for an observer was terrible. I hated the abby section of the game, I was beyond bored (I watched a run through of the game, like 9-10 hours). I just wanted to see what part my buddies house was being used for, as he was contractually not able to talk about it (I saw his house on a local news story, his house is easily recognizable). I did watch the whole run through even those his house, being the mansion, scenes were all to the front of the game. Your idea to alternate is good, just hopefully thats in episode, not like later episodes of the walking dead that game the most mundane characters full episodes on their own. Abby sucks. She can't carry a full epsiode.
@@anhquocmaxif they are really gonna use the lamest deaths that they gave the characters then imu be mad and shi I’mu furious if they kill the characters off so fast.
Joel's death was filmed at my buddy's house (currently for sale). I did all the metalwork on the house. It's the mansion from the game. It's about an hour outside vancouver. I have no idea when in the season it'll be shown but it's def been filmed, happens in his old office. Can't say anything for any other filming location, didn't pay much attention, I saw an alley in Vancouver that was all fungused up online, but that's about it.
My partners mom worked as an extra for quite a few days, no spoilers, but there were some big changes particularly in Jackson. super excited to see how it’s gonna play out!
I like your theory a lot. I've actually played the game chronologically thanks to seperate saves and the story definitely hits different that way. I actually wonder if they are filming scenes for the later seasons at the same time? Either way i am so interested on seeing how they approach the story. It could be any number of ways really.
I think that lady is a therapist for Joel. Instead of confessing to Tommy like in the game he may confess to her. Which would make it more interesting because like Ellie, that would mean Tommy would be clueless as well as to why Abby murdered him. Even though in the game Tommy didn’t explicitly state that he knows why Abby killed Joel or even suggested it but to not suspect anything would leave Tommy just as rage driven as Ellie. In the game Ellie got clues along the way to understanding the WLF and Abby. Tommy would be completely clueless because he has no answers and would suspect that it can be anyone that Joel crossed in the past. Which is why I want TLOU Part III to be a prequel that shows what happened with Tommy and Joel. Anyways, I say all that to say I think they will make that change for the show.
I think your prediction of the structure for the upcoming seasons is correct(80%) and I agree with it. It is I think the best way to keep the audience hooked on the tv series. I do hope they’ll add more encounters with the infected, because I feel in the first season needed just a tiny bit more imo. And also I do hope to see the “Rat King” and Abby fight, that scene is needed 100%😂.
Here’s what I hope the season turns out to be. -Ellie is having trauma from David. (That nightmare looked like her giving birth to a child. The child of a sick monster.) -Joel talking to a therapist or his love interest. -Joel and Ellie are estranged but not cut off from each other. -Abby is introduced in a flashback episode around the middle of the show where she enters Jackson. -Abby and her group live in Jackson for a few weeks, waiting for a chance to get close to Joel on his own. - By episode 5 or 6 Abby and her group attack Joel and Tommy and attempt to kill Joel. Ellie and Dina’s growing relationship should stay mostly the same. (In terms of how they end up together should almost be the same as the game) - we should get some scenes of Jesse and Joel together and how Joel could be a teacher to Joel. - More infected. More Bloater encounters. (Maybe a scene where Joel and Abby are forced to kill a couple together.) - some scenes establishing the WLF and the Seraphites. But not too much. - By the end of episode 5 or 6 Joel is either killed by Abby or severely injured (Maria and her squad arrive before Abby can kill him.) - Ellie arrives at the scene and watches as Joel is mortally wounded/killed and is knocked out by Jordan. - Jesse, Maria, and Dina arrive and get Joel to their hospital. Episode 6 or 7 could be an episode/s where Ellie has grief about Joel dying or wishing she could have saved him from being injured. - Ellie and Tommy could have a chat together in the makeshift hospital (with similar dialogue to the game) -Dina could talk to her saying there’s nothing they could have done. - the series ends with Tommy leaving Jackson, blinded by vengeance and a need for justice and Maria telling Ellie and Dina to go get him. (Maybe a post credits scene of Abby working out in the WLF’s gym.) This is how I hope the episode goes down. I don’t want to see Joel die in the first episode. That’s my biggest fear of the show.
Cool breakdown but I disagree. Joel's end should come in the initial episode & they build from there. He'll be in flashbacks throughout the season for sure. Also, The Salt Lake Crew staying in Jackson for a few weeks wouldn't do anything for Abby. Jackson is damn near a utopia in this world & for them to stay there, get to know the townsfolk, & hear of Joel & Tommy's heroics, & then take him out...Abby & Crew will not get as much sympathy from the audience. This would throw the story out of whack imo.
That would be cool but I don't agree with all of it, I kind of want Joel to die a little early just not too early, I dont WANT Joel to die but It's probably gonna happen in s2, I just hope they make it good, shocking and emotional just like the game and the only reason I partly want him to die is just because I feel like we fans need to see what it would look like in live action, season 2 is gonna be amazing no matter what tho.
Season 1/part 1 is a love story, that’s why we got more detail into Bill and Frank. Part 2 is a revenge story, not grief. We’ll see much more anger in season 2 than we did previously
Part 2 is not just a revenge story, grief is showcased so much as the main theme, obviously you have the grief of Joel's death/how Ellie has to deal with her own internal struggles of finding purpose in her life which was so connected to Joel's decisions but it's explored in a lot of other areas like Abby's deteriorating relationships with her friends and how her revenge didn't alleviate her grief There's so much nuance to the themes of this game that I can't justify it as being just a revenge story and I hope they can explore those themes more clearly in this second season
Bro the teaser popped up on yt for me, and I thought "Bruh imagine if this was real. They probably combined clips of GoT, tlou 2 the game and some scenes from Pedro Pascal's other movies until I saw that it was actually official, so cool to see something on s2.
9:06 Basically after Ellie Day 2 this is how I feel playing the game. Day 1 is mostly self defence. Day 2 it feels like Ellie is a sociopath that loves to kill and is using Joel as an excuse. Of course Abby and her friends are evil, but it feels like they are more normal. Just nobody forced them to consider another perspective and they are in a trance that their life paths are the correct ones.
Druckmann or Maizin have directed the episode that Joel dies. In the line of directors that I read somewhere (not some specific source) none of them are the first two directors. I don't know if that still stands or it was even correct. There is, though, some food for things before the murder. As for a viewer not to know the motive behind Joel's murder, they should be living under a rock by now, they cannot use the shock factor of hating Abby and then relising that she is the doctor's daughter. I guess that they will build a bit on Abby's past with her father first and Joel and Ellie's good moments, juxtaposing the good father-daughter relations and then the doctor's killing with the deterioration of Joel's relation with Ellie and how he deals himself with what he has done, plus of course Tom and Maria's lives, raiders, how Abbie finds Joel, etc. So when Abbie kills Joel, we will be torn for his death but at the same question if the action is justified (it's not, either Abby's action or Ellie's crussade, but this is a discussion for another day and what has me intrigued for the next seasons). And then we will follow how the grief changes Ellie to become Abbie while Abbie is getting better, as you said.
It's clear that season 3 is going to be Abby's Seattle days. Season 2 is the days of Ellie. What I don't know is if before Joel's death there will be a flashback of Abby with her father in the hospital or something like that. My bet is that they are going to be very faithful to the narrative of the game. In fact, it is the best way to develop this story. Many people didn't like it for the simple fact of NOT WANTING TO CHANGE THEIR OPINION REGARDING ABBY, OUT OF PRIDE. Because if you think about it clearly, not showing who Abby's character is makes you angry at what she has done but at the same time it should give mystery, who is she and why does she do what she does with such so much fury? At the same time, we identify with Ellie, seeking an explanation for who they are and wanting revenge. If we know Abby's motivation from the beginning, we are no longer attached to Ellie and we'll just want Ellie to turn around and go back to Jackson from day 1. What the story is about is that you watch with Ellie, that as the days go by, you begin to consider whether it is worth it or not. But at the same time you continue with that flame within you of wanting to go after Abby. Knowing Abby before, that wouldn't work anymore. Part two is a PERSPECTIVE story. Who is the bad guy? Who is the good one? The game tries to put you in Ellie's perspective, with Abby and her friends being the bad guys. Then they put Ellie as the bad guy, the crazy one who is after your friends, killing them one by one and who is following you. Telling the story in the series from a neutral point is eliminating all that emotional charge that part 2 has, and that is what makes it special.
@@bernardo5217 I don't know. We will see but as mentioned the majority of people watching know very well why Joel is going to be killed and who is Abby by now, regardless if they were familiar with the game or not. There is no shock factor from there any more. And to be fair, there is no reason to change the viewer's opinion over Abby. Some will always say that she had her reasons. Some others will say that Joel did what he did out of love, while Abby will do what she will do out of egotistical revenge. This is the very reason Joel didn't have any faith in human beings to let them sacrifice his adoptive child, in the first place. Ellie falls into the same motive but she is also motivated by regret. Is it worth it in all cases? No. And no one is right. But who decides who is right anyway? That's the point of the whole LoU story anyway.
@@TheWatermelonSunrise Yes, I totally agree with you. Regarding the surprise factor lost with Abby and the reason for Joel's murder, well, it is true that the players will know perfectly well what happens but they cannot forget the people that have not played The Game and know nothing about It. It is a minority, yeah, but idk, I feel like The structure of The Game is important for the meaning of this story, wether you played It or not.
No it shouldn't, the reason why we want to kill Abby so badly at the beginning of the game is because we have no idea why she killed Joel. Immediately showing us why she does what she does builds empathy we are not supposed to have yet. Putting the context as to why Abby killed Joel later on in the game makes people feel ashamed about what they did as Ellie and makes them empathize with Abby more.
@@wickdaline8668 Do you mean that not knowing why she killed Joel until later on pissed them off? Because if so that’s the point you’re not supposed to like Abby at the beginning of the game. You are supposed to have the same information as Ellie and you are supposed to want Ellie to go on the journey to kill Abby. Changing that would affect how you view Ellie’s choice of going after Abby and it would make you have empathy for Abby before you’re supposed to.
I think Abby and Joel’s scene will be within the first 2 episodes at least, possibly the first and the second being some portion of grieving and starting out on the mission. I think, and hope, they keep who Abby actually is and her reasoning behind her actions until later in the season to keep non gamers guessing who she is and why. I hope they do set the seasons up where season 2 will be Seattle Day 1, Season 2 Seattle Day 2 and so on because they could fit A TON of action sequences of Ellie’s rampage and revenge on WLF and the run in with Scars. I hope Abby’s big boss fight will be saved for season 3 towards the end of the season somewhere and season 4 the season finale be the confrontation between Ellie and Abby. Then season 5 being the last season ending it all. I don’t know, maybe that’s drawing it out too much, not sure, but in my head it’s the way I’d like to see it unfold.
I kinda wish they would have kept it being Tommy that Joel talks to about the hospital. It's a great bonding moment for them and Tommy is a person Joel would open up to like that and share his motivations. It's not a huge deal, but I feel like it would've been better
I think the first ep will follow the beginning of the game to a T, stopping short of the killing blow. Second ep will be entirely Abbys story with the end showing her motiv, father's death, and then immediately show the final blow to Joel. Roll credits. Next eps follow Ellie on her journey and end with her confrontation with Abby. Next season follows Lev and deals more with the confrontations between the larger groups making the Rattlers a little more involved earlier on.
I think for ppl who havent played the game, it would be better for joels death to be shown first so there is alot more speculation of who Abby is and what she has against Joel. To finally learn who her father was and the connection he had to Marlene, the fireflies and the overall story, it would be a jaw dropping moment for alot of non gamer viewers which would make them conflicted in whos right and wrong which is such a cool dynamic
Interesting predictions, I don't think television will necessarily be all that much different in terms of how the narrative unfolds.. It's not going ot be exactly like the video game for sure, but I highly doubt that key death will happen at the end of episode 1. It feels more well placed in episodic about 3 episodes in. We may get more with them in Wyoming scenes that weren't in the game.
I feel Joel’s death may be a cliffhanger for season 2, episode 1 and in episode 2 you see Ellie running in like episode 1 ending you see Abby hitting Joel then credits role
They actually said the story of TLoU 2 might take them FOUR seasons. Essentially they said they don't want to rush it and they don't think they can do it with two seasons. It will take them at least three, potentially four. I wonder if part of the reason for that is to get The Last of Us Part 3 out to the fans before they reach the end of the story of the second game so they can just continue right into it.
I think we will see flashbacks of Abbys dads death while shes killing Joel, so it kinda puts it into perspective during the act showing what shes thinking about while shes doing it.
@pixel8ted However they end up doing it, I'm so beyond excited for it! Still not ready.. tissues will be on stand-by. I don't recall a show ever getting me so emotional and the big shit hasn't even happened yet! 🤣
If this second season is just like TLOU 2, then t people will once again, lose respect for the franchise. We can only hope Abby will either be a better character, or she’ll get killed off. Regardless, we can only hope for the best.
So stoked that Kaitlyn Dever is finally on board. She should’ve been cast as Ellie, but I’ll take her as Abby.. i’m sure she’s been bulking up and playing golf to get ready..🕺🏌️♀️💯
Was it confirmed somewhere that there are gonna be more seasons? I hope so just havent seen it myself. I was thinking they will try and cram it all into one season which already made me feel like it wouldnt be even half as powerful as the game is
I don’t think Joel will die until the end of season 1. They more than likely will flush out Abby in part 1. Then part 2 will be Ellie trying to get her revenge. It makes the most sense to do so, show wise. Obviously they will add things for season 1 that will lead up to Joel’s death. I mean they have Pedro Pascal to play Joel, they are NOT going to kill him early lol. The fact that Pedro is in the MCU now is more confirmation of this. We will probably see visions of him in part 2 but that’s about it
Cutting back and forth for Seattle is the way to go. Abby's Seattle plotline is actually really good; even as a hater of her, her plotline of slowly earning Lev's trust is the best part of the game; and cutting that in with Ellie's punisher arc is the best way to ease the audience into at least respecting Abby as a complex character. My issue with her was always them dumping us into 8 hours of Abby after she had JUST killed Jesse, and using Ellie's cliffhanger as hostage to make us play as Abby . . . You couldn't ask for a more effective way to piss off your audience. We have to lull the audience into liking Abby, Game of Thrones style. Start with a scene here and there, just updating us on where she is which is good for us because we want Ellie to find her. But by the time Ellie's starting to mc-friggin lose it, Abby surprises us with the Lev plotline and we're like "Oh shit, at least she's a badass . . . Hmm" AND THEN we find out her motivation and we're like "OH . . . fuck her still, but AT LEAST that makes sense" And by the time Ellie's got her on the beach we're finally like "ahh yknow what . . . It's not worth it, just let her go." But because of that initial "Jesse's dead, now here's 8 mandatory hours of Abby trying to make you like her" face-plant, many players understandably stay mad at her all the way into the credits. I like House of the Dragon for being slow and talky, but even I can admit, they should've shown more of the actin scenes because not every audience member is as patient as I am about that. Same way, I hope Druckmann makes the small tweaks, even as simple as changing the scene order, so that more people can bridge that skill-gap and appreciate what going on. What they changed with the Kansas City, Enemy POV / Henry POV / Joel POV switch-up; that's a good proof-of-concept for how the Seattle plotlines can stick the landing.
I agree with everyone who says it would be a copout to explain Abby's motives immediately. Even if they decide to tell the Seattle story chronologically, they should still save that info for the end of this season or beginning of next season.

@samwallaceart288 I certainly see your point. But I think that it's actually quite effective to keep the audience hating Abby until the theater. Most players are breaking into that aquarium ready to fuck up Abby. I think it's good to keep that hatred and momentum going. Ellie day 3 would feel kinda crazy if at that point we'd already seen Abby betray the WLF and fight the rat King to save Yara and Lev. Honestly I'm wondering if I should play it chronologically and see how it feels. The problem is I already know what happens and I already like Abby.
@@pluginleah I think it would balance out. Have it where Abby is _on the cusp_ of being out of our shit-list, where we understand her but still agree Ellie's in the right, and then on impulse Abby shoots Jesse reverting us back into revenge-mode "Aw HELL NAH, STOMP HER ASS, ELLIE" and then after the fight we along with Ellie are thinking back on all that context and ease into being "ah . . . That wasn't really worth it . . . Just let her go"
Nah, most game of the year awards of all time, everyone I personally know liked or loved it, all the positive reviews. There is a very vocal minority who hates this game and has based their life purpose on letting us know they don't like it, and then there is the rest of the world. Most people like or love this game, very few hate it.
It's sad because I love the first game and its story, but since i have also played the second game I just can't be excited for the next season. The only way for me to like season 2 would be for the writers to not change the major plot points, but to make the plot and characters make more sense and the pacing to be a lot better. A lot of the characters do not act like themselves and/or act like idiots to further the plot and a season 2 is the perfect change to fix the many mistakes the sequel had. But since Tlou2 won so many awards and Neil Druckmann is working on the series, I fear nothing will change
My hope is that Craig Mazin will work him and real-talk "Look; you've got good components here, but the way they were presented to the audience last time DIDNT work as well as you think it did. We wanna be bold, yeah, but we want the normies to be willing to get on board with it. Let's be very deliberate about how this is presented. People will HATE Abby because of what she does, and we need to take that into account and figure out how we're making it work. The athlete's good, we just need them to stick the landing"
3 things 1) kill Joel in the mid season finale 2) Have each episode feature both Abby & Ellie post Joel death (if not than the pacing would be TERRIBLE) 3) Reveal why Abby killed Joel either when she kills him or in the season finale
I honestly don’t feel like we got enough Ellie and Joel in Season 1. The story beats for me didn’t hit as hard as the game because I felt other characters got more attention then they did. If they do kill Joel off at the beginning of Season 2 I’m worried I’m not going to feel invested. If we at least get to sit with moments leading up to the falling out of the pair. I think they’ll stick the landing with Joel’s death. They can still cut back and forth with Abby. At that point it’s foreshadowing the death to come.
Nah. There was sets of Bella and Dina in the beginning of her vengeance, + Jesse and Ellie together + movie theater, so they’re not going to do what u said which is stretch out the story and only cover Seattle day 1, that would be a terrible idea, the end of the season will be a mystery to us and let it stay a mystery not everything has to be theorized or predicted some of us want to enjoy the show.
The show-runners have confirmed Part 2 is going to have a lot more differences to make it work for TV than Part 1 did, so lots of new content might be coming, along with Part 2 being confirmed to be taking place over 3 seasons. It would be like telling Walking Dead TV viewers "we already know everything" because we have the comic, there will be lots of little differences between the two!
I hope we get more Santa Barbara regardless. I know the pacing is fast in the game for a reason, but if we end up eliminating the rattlers completely I’d like to see more of that.
@@ThatFont Isaac seems to have a story similar to that of Bill and Frank. I mean that we are going to see his past, which in the game is explored through letters. My bet is that we'll see Isaac's story in season 2 that will somehow connect to Ellie's hunt in Seattle. Then in season 3 we will explore it more with Abby and season 4 will focus on the final act in Santa Barbara.
Tbh I don’t think pt2 will work as well as a tv show as it did as a game. I think the structure of the the game, seeing Ellie’s 3 days then Abby’s has a point, you don’t learn much about Abby untill her 3 so you go up to that point thinking that she’s the big villain and the she’s then holding your favourite character at gunpoint, I think yours supposed to gradually realise that Abby isn’t the villain and that she’s got her own perfectly valid motivations for what she does. Obviously get that this doesn’t work as a tv show but I don’t think they can immediately show Abby’s dad dying as it will make both characters sympathetic and will make the whole experience generally unpleasant.
there are definitely parts that won't translate as well, like the sniper annoying the player as Abby and wanting him dead along with her and then finding out he's Tommy when you reach him is a serious shock and won't have the same impact as actually playing it. The Last of Us 2 def needs you to be right alongside its protagonists for every step of the ride for it to work and I think that's how it ended up losing some folks along the way who weren't able to follow Abby. It'll be hard to translate it to a TV show
Some people including myself think they're gonna change how Joel dies as an apology to the fans for how they killed him off in the game whereas others think they're still gonna kill him the same way but they're just doubling down on it
I think it is time they talk about Ellie Bylogical dad. Before seasoned episode 9. My thoughts on Ellie being Immune was her dad was infected and before he turned he Pregnant Ellie's mom.
bruh ellies mom got infected before giving birth to her then she gave birth to ellie before marlene killing here its not bc her dad was infected or something
I think they purposefully made ellie less likable and abby more likeable because too many people played the game entrenched with ellie and joel, and made then not like part 2. If ellie is less likeable from the start theyll be more likely to come around to abbie's perspective
I hope this is not the case. The viewer must build hate for Abby. It is crucial for the story before we learn anything about her. The viewer must learn that they were as wrong about Abby as Ellie is and that there are no goods and bads in this world. Everyone has their perspective. The Last of Us 2 is a gamer journey from pure hate to understanding where such hate leads.
If its as badly write as the first series it won't be worth watching why do writers think they can improve on the original, because they never do I've watched loads of films copyed from books and now video games they hardly ever are as good
I really like the idea of seeing Abby’s father die in the first episode, it’s much less of a confusing narrative for the general audience and i think it will make it seem less divisive
I think the story structure of the game is really purposeful and to rearrange it so it would be in chronological order and to switch perspectives back and forth with Ellie and Abby would be a disservice to the story.
Maybe with this it will be softer hit and easier to swing some of us to Abby side, since they tell us Abby side first.
yeah but most of us will feel empathy at this point because most of us have witnessed the story of the games.
So they'll probably do it differently
Even with her backstory, Abby is unlikeable. I really think people who geniuenly like Abby are sociopaths themselves. She got her revenge, tortured Joel without saying to him why, she betrayed her friends and killed them. I couldn‘t imagine Ellie starting to kill people in Jackson. The writing was so weird for Abby. I wish the good writers from part 1 were around for the second game.
If Abby doesn’t say “ We let you live, and you wasted it” like in the game, I’m not watching the show
I 100% think that line will be in there!
No one cares what you watch. Or about you in general.
Haven't played the game yet only the first one but I know everything that happens and bro they HAVE to have that line it's amazing
Hopefully they don’t butcher it like they did to the line Joel says to Marlene when he shoots her
That wasn't until the theatre encounter, I think HBO is going the same route
There were set photos of Ellie and Jessie, Ellie was wearing her rain coat. That's not until day 3, where they're trying to make it to the aquarium.
Interesting!
Possibly but it could be also Ellie meeting Jessie on Day 2.
it is also possible filming is just happening all at once.
Great predictions
I just hope they add more blood and stuff to the show make it just as brutal as the game and more zombies
It should be crazy!
Yes! The brutality reflects Ellie’s mentality and her unrest to get revenge
(Also reflects Abby’s strength , her willingness to protect lev and her loved ones, and the brutal person that Abby thinks of herself as
Well more zombies is already confirmed to be happening. There's also the rat king, but we might not see that until season 3
@@munkayttaja6913 👍🏽🔥
I know they'll probably change the sequence they show events but ideally I'd love the first scene to show Abby's flashback in the zoo and cut off right where they show the hospital, I feel like it would capture so much dread that the start of part 2 has without giving away too much of the plot straight away
Totally!
That's a fair observation!
We see in the trailer that they are definitely showing the 40 ish minute build up to Abby being saved by Joel to her killing him so maybe
I think ending season 1 on the rat king is a perfect ending
I think it ends when jesse gets shot in the face
Really can't wait to see Rat King in all his glory!

Season one??? Absolutely not lol - no way, that will be end of s2 maybe s3
Season 2 is about Joel's Death in Jackson and Ellie's 3 days in Seattle. The filming so far in Canada is evident of this route.
That could be interesting!
We have seen scenes/pics of Abby and what was the name of the WLF leader so I wouldn't be so sure.
I know of these changes as well! Should make for some great scenes!

Ellies season 2 - Abbie season 3
That would be bold!
Then you will lose a lot of viewers for season 3. Abby sucks.
I like your theory a lot. I've actually played the game chronologically thanks to seperate saves and the story definitely hits different that way. I actually wonder if they are filming scenes for the later seasons at the same time? Either way i am so interested on seeing how they approach the story. It could be any number of ways really.
It will be really interesting!
What were your takeaways from doing the game chronological? That's honestly hype that you did all that
Joel incident in (extended) episode 1. Mark my words 😶🌫
Totally agree!
@@pixel8ted I noticed. I commented that before starting the video 😂
That could make sense!
Rat King!
If they end it on the start of day 2 of Seattle then Rat king won't be until season 3.
Here’s what I hope the season turns out to be.
-Ellie is having trauma from David. (That nightmare looked like her giving birth to a child. The child of a sick monster.)
-Joel talking to a therapist or his love interest.
(In terms of how they end up together should almost be the same as the game)
- we should get some scenes of Jesse and Joel together and how Joel could be a teacher to Joel.
- More infected. More Bloater encounters. (Maybe a scene where Joel and Abby are forced to kill a couple together.)
- some scenes establishing the WLF and the Seraphites. But not too much.
- By the end of episode 5 or 6 Joel is either killed by Abby or severely injured (Maria and her squad arrive before Abby can kill him.)
- Ellie arrives at the scene and watches as Joel is mortally wounded/killed and is knocked out by Jordan.
- Jesse, Maria, and Dina arrive and get Joel to their hospital.
Episode 6 or 7 could be an episode/s where Ellie has grief about Joel dying or wishing she could have saved him from being injured.
- Ellie and Tommy could have a chat together in the makeshift hospital (with similar dialogue to the game)
-Dina could talk to her saying there’s nothing they could have done.
- the series ends with Tommy leaving Jackson, blinded by vengeance and a need for justice and Maria telling Ellie and Dina to go get him. (Maybe a post credits scene of Abby working out in the WLF’s gym.)
This is how I hope the episode goes down. I don’t want to see Joel die in the first episode. That’s my biggest fear of the show.
Interesting ideas!
@@HURRIC4NEyt just not the first episode. If he dies in the second episode, or the first half of the second episode ill be happy.
Season 1/part 1 is a love story, that’s why we got more detail into Bill and Frank. Part 2 is a revenge story, not grief. We’ll see much more anger in season 2 than we did previously
Should be interesting!
Part 2 is not just a revenge story, grief is showcased so much as the main theme, obviously you have the grief of Joel's death/how Ellie has to deal with her own internal struggles of finding purpose in her life which was so connected to Joel's decisions but it's explored in a lot of other areas like Abby's deteriorating relationships with her friends and how her revenge didn't alleviate her grief
There's so much nuance to the themes of this game that I can't justify it as being just a revenge story and I hope they can explore those themes more clearly in this second season
@@Zodiaaac Neil Druckmann literally called part 2 a revenge story 🤷♂️
He also said the actual theme was love.
@@mattgarvey88Revenge is much more complex than you think.
Bro the teaser popped up on yt for me, and I thought "Bruh imagine if this was real. They probably combined clips of GoT, tlou 2 the game and some scenes from Pedro Pascal's other movies until I saw that it was actually official, so cool to see something on s2.

Let's hope it's great!
They never announced who is playing yara and lev.. do you think that they will have an appearance this season or maybe season 3
I think so, but I'm open to being wrong!
I'm pretty sure Yara and Lev will be introduced in season 3. They are not cast yet and filming for season 2 is almost done.
Could make for interesting TV!
Interesting theories and reasoning here!
@@bernardo5217They have appeared to have filmed scenes of Abby's seattle day 1 so I wouldn't be so sure
I always thought the season could start with Abby losing her dad.
I think it makes the most logical sense! You start off with the audience thinking "Oh, well this looks like it may become a problem."
@@starshapedana Which is what pissed people off a lot.
@starshapedana I'm just saying that playing as Abby is what turned people off. Regardless of why.
Where did you get the pictures on the cover?? I cant find any photos of Kaitlyn Dever as Abby so that was a shock

It would be an action packed season!
I just can’t see Ramsey as the older more capable Ellie.
I kinda wish they would have kept it being Tommy that Joel talks to about the hospital. It's a great bonding moment for them and Tommy is a person Joel would open up to like that and share his motivations. It's not a huge deal, but I feel like it would've been better
I think he still will!
I want to see Ellie with the bow 😊
Yes sir!
That could work!
Good points!
That's possible!
I feel Joel’s death may be a cliffhanger for season 2, episode 1 and in episode 2 you see Ellie running in like episode 1 ending you see Abby hitting Joel then credits role
Totally possible!
Totally possible!
I think we will see flashbacks of Abbys dads death while shes killing Joel, so it kinda puts it into perspective during the act showing what shes thinking about while shes doing it.
That's possible!

Was it confirmed somewhere that there are gonna be more seasons? I hope so just havent seen it myself. I was thinking they will try and cram it all into one season which already made me feel like it wouldnt be even half as powerful as the game is
Yep, Druckmann and Mazin both confirmed Part 2 will be 3 seasons!
@@pixel8ted That's awesome! And such a relieve honestly. Thanks for informing me
I don’t think Joel will die until the end of season 1. We will probably see visions of him in part 2 but that’s about it
We will see!
But by the time Ellie's starting to mc-friggin lose it, Abby surprises us with the Lev plotline and we're like "Oh shit, at least she's a badass . . . Hmm"
AND THEN we find out her motivation and we're like "OH . . . fuck her still, but AT LEAST that makes sense"
And by the time Ellie's got her on the beach we're finally like "ahh yknow what . . . It's not worth it, just let her go."
But because of that initial "Jesse's dead, now here's 8 mandatory hours of Abby trying to make you like her" face-plant, many players understandably stay mad at her all the way into the credits.
It'll be interesting to see what they do!
I agree with everyone who says it would be a copout to explain Abby's motives immediately. Even if they decide to tell the Seattle story chronologically, they should still save that info for the end of this season or beginning of next season.

@@pluginleah I think it would balance out.
I’m open for them to make up everything and call it a adaptation
I have a feeling - I could be way off, but I feel like the first season will end with Joel's death. I think it's gonna run for 4 seasons
It's possible!
3 things
1) kill Joel in the mid season finale
2) Have each episode feature both Abby & Ellie post Joel death (if not than the pacing would be TERRIBLE)
3) Reveal why Abby killed Joel either when she kills him or in the season finale
Interesting ideas!
It looked like day 3 will be the end of the season your see Ellie and Jessie part being flimed
My biggest complaint of season one is it needed 2-3 more episodes!
Bro what you predicting? We know everything
You can still predict structure etc.
That is going to be season 4
@@bernardo5217 I’d be fine with waiting, but seeing Isaac in the trailer I’m speculating end of season 3
Same!
I believe when Dina kisses Elle episode will be the last episode. There is a lot of time between the first and second game
That's possible!
I feel bad for whoever has to do a scene with Jeffrey Wright. Easily one of the best actors working today.
He's so good!
Good actors elevate those around them. Rhaenyra's best scenes are when Matt Smith is legitimately pissing her off
Tbh I don’t think pt2 will work as well as a tv show as it did as a game.
Things will definitely need to be tweaked!
It didn’t work in the game at all lmao
there are definitely parts that won't translate as well, like the sniper annoying the player as Abby and wanting him dead along with her and then finding out he's Tommy when you reach him is a serious shock and won't have the same impact as actually playing it. The Last of Us 2 def needs you to be right alongside its protagonists for every step of the ride for it to work and I think that's how it ended up losing some folks along the way who weren't able to follow Abby. It'll be hard to translate it to a TV show
I can’t wait for this. I wish it was. 2025 already.
Same!
Some people including myself think they're gonna change how Joel dies as an apology to the fans for how they killed him off in the game whereas others think they're still gonna kill him the same way but they're just doubling down on it
Is think it would be a mistake to make part 2 span over three seasons. It would be too dragged out. Two seasons is perfect for me
When you order last of us 2 game from Ali express
Ngl, Abby be lookin pretty fine in that thumbnail. 👁👄👁
The not going to kill Joel at the beginning of the show
Makes no sense to present the background of Abby before the death of Joel. It will spoil they are hunting him.
I think it is time they talk about Ellie Bylogical dad. Before seasoned episode 9. My thoughts on Ellie being Immune was her dad was infected and before he turned he Pregnant Ellie's mom.
It would be interesting to learn what happened to him! So much mystery between both her mom and her dad.
bruh ellies mom got infected before giving birth to her then she gave birth to ellie before marlene killing here its not bc her dad was infected or something
@@Blixurr Truth!
@Blixurr I know, I mention that in my comment, before S1, E9, I thought it was her dad. They need to address what or who is her dad.
Love interest ? My man Joel into gilfs ?😂
I think they purposefully made ellie less likable and abby more likeable because too many people played the game entrenched with ellie and joel, and made then not like part 2. If ellie is less likeable from the start theyll be more likely to come around to abbie's perspective
It is funny how they picked an actor JUST LIKE Game-Ellie to play Abby
I think the scene of her screaming might be her getting the chemical burn on her arm
That could be possible!
I hated Abby even after seeing her story. Her father was no excuse to become so cruel.
Meh
Cant say if the will fix the story or make it worse
Honestly part2 was more a Gameplaything than a storygame to me
they literally never said they were working on a Tommy DLC, stop making shit up,. that was also a fan theory and on top of that was a dumb idea.
If its as badly write as the first series it won't be worth watching why do writers think they can improve on the original, because they never do I've watched loads of films copyed from books and now video games they hardly ever are as good
Same writer bruh
Prediction is, it’s gonna suck compared to the game….just like season one
Last of us show ended when they botched the finale
Hi I’ve you want you can take away my Moderator role 🫡
I really like the idea of seeing Abby’s father die in the first episode, it’s much less of a confusing narrative for the general audience and i think it will make it seem less divisive
I think they might go that route!
I think Abby's dad should be a late reveal, but everything else should be shown parallel to Ellie
Yeah insanely shit
