Bobby White Bobbie when u were setting the prongs I paused it and got a closer look at the shanks shoulders where the bezel cups attach, did u just shape them that way or did you solder more on? Bcoz at the start when u first soldered the ring and cut the shank for the setting I noticed it was a different shape.? Just curious.. I always pause your vids, coz some times the video goes by so quickly we don't always get a chance to see the amount of detail u actually put in to these rings.. It's seriously is top notch craftsmanship.. I do sometimes wish I had a more formal training or apprenticed with someone
But Iam happy to be learning, I hope u don't mind me asking such a question

It's always neat to watch the differences between American and English/European technique. We cast most things that would be fine as cast, shanks, some heads, etc. Whereas I've noticed the European school is much more into fabrication, It's a neat comparison, and I feel like it's slightly more personal. That and wax carving can take AGES depending on the piece.

This is one of my favourites ! Love the fancy yellow diamond. I wondered Bobby if you can suggest any books that detail how to make handmade platinum rings? I’m going on a two week trial into bespoke handmade jewellery (no castings) and before I start, my ‘assignment’ is to write in detailed steps how to make said ring. The trial is to find out if I’m any good / like it etc and then I might get offered an apprenticeship. Exciting times! I’ve found some things online but if you can suggest anything as well I would be so grateful. Thank you, Sarah x

Pretty ring; like the shoulder design. If such a small portion of mined diamonds are fancy colors, how many of the colored diamonds are heat treated/irradiated? Are certain colors natural and others treated?

I know exactly what to expect when ever I see you two have uploaded a new video! And it’s delivered every time!
New music for me to check, new techniques for me look into on the bench, amazing camera shots and superb editing! You guys get it right every time, truly an underrated channel.
Still curious to see where the reality tv style idea goes. Maybe invite some local jewelers out and make a show with challenges? You guys would make great Gordon Ramsay style hosts!
Also I see your apprentice bench is in full swing maybe you’ll have time to run a workshop that some of us Americans can fly out to and learn from you.
With love from USA! Keep it up boys!

Nisarg Dave u can train yourself. Like me and alot of others I know.! U have to know the basics, and it's alot of trial an error at first. And the tools are crazy, when u tú ink u have all the tools. U don't, u will need 10,000 more haha. No joke, but u can start with the basic tools... Follow Soham Harrison or Andrew Berry on RUclips and u will find basic lessons., practice with copper an learn how to cut and solder and once u have that down you will pick up the rest, there are courses and collages u can also do stone setting and have a more traditional jewlery education also

Hi Ezra, thank you for your message. When I created this channel it wasn’t to teach others how to make jewellery it was to show people behind the screens of a jewellery brand but I understand a lot of people who watch my videos are from the jewellery trade and I know a lot pick up tips along the way. For the foundations of jewellery making I really wouldn’t advise learning online. You need to find a jewellery making course and or look for a jewellery apprenticeship. This is the best way to learn. I have seen people say they are self taught and that maybe ok for them but not for fine jewellery making. You need to learn from a professional. Hope this helps you.
