As we know, the Cascadian/Federation War started due to Cascadian disagreement over the Federation using its cordium to fuel their war aims. Now without being too reliant on cordium that would greatly help with its supply goals and not have to tax periphery states for their cordium reserves.

4:06 That was exactly what the Supersonic Low Altitude Missile (SLAM) designed for. The SLAM was a ram jet cruise missile powered by an unshielded nuclear reactor and armed with a payload delivery system of sixteen hydrogen bombs and a singular thermonuclear warhead, and since the missile would fly at an altitude of 250 metres the supersonic shock wave would simply kill you were it to fly over you. Oh, and it had enough fuel to circumvent the globe 4.5 times and was able to fly along a predefined course with predesignated targets.

That nuclear crop duster thing you mentioned was actually almost built with Project Pluto, which utilized a nuclear ramjet that worked by placing the fuel rods- a series of many pencil sized fuel assemblies- in the combustion chamber exposed directly to air. They tested the engine and found that it was great at producing thrust, but the fuel assemblies would degrade and leak out through the exhaust as it ran, irradiating whatever it was flying over. Considering it was intended to also be delivering several thermonuclear bombs, that may seem like a comparatively minor concern, but it, along with the automated nature of the device where partially responsible for its cancelation.

I'm yet to play this game, but this is the headcanon I just imagined for the reasons to build such a massive nuclear aircraft:
The year is 2134, and humanity has built its first space elevator. The elevator was built in the capital of Schneyzov (one of the hundreds of countries that Russia dissolved into after its horrendous failures in war over the past 50 years in my headcanon). The elevator is big enough to carry entire space stations up into LEO. However, currently, to transport the massive pieces of the space stations going up the elevator, several separate aircraft have to travel in a convoy from whichever country is building the space station to the elevator. This is inefficient, costly, and it's hardly a show of how great a country's aircraft designs are. Thus, countries began to construct aircraft the size of skyscrapers, to transport entire stations to and from the brand new elevator.
Since in my new universe, nuclear power is as easy to come by as an AA battery nowadays, these aircraft are built with large reactors and have incredibly long ranges. The elevator idea solves issues other commenters are talking about with "landing strips would have to be specially built" because it's a damn space elevator, why not slap a huge runway next to it big enough for these behemoths?
Just my idea. Half of this doesn't make sense. But I think it's cool :D

I guess an alternative to a giant catapult launcher for this plane would be to build it as a flying boat. Launching it from the water would allow you to distribute the weight, wouldn't require you to build a giant runway or catapult structure, it would be safe from being destroyed by said nuclear war, and after the war, the world's oceans would give you plenty of un-bombed places to land.
Not to mention, if you're ever going to have a meltdown, the sea is one of the best places you can be, with limitless coolant all around you, that functions as great radiation shielding if the reactor melts through the floor and sinks!

You can synthesize chemical fuels out of the air using a nuclear reactor, which means you would have this to be a flying refinery with an infinite supply of fuel (ammonia from the air)
add a Fulton surface-to-air recovery system and wings that people can go in through and a design that allows engine repairs in flight, and you have a plane that can not only exist indefinitely in the air it can sustain an entire fleet of aircraft,
in a post-apocalyptic scenario, this thing can be the base of a group of sky raiders with infinite range that no country can defeat as all they need to do is occasionally send down smaller crafts down to set up supply drops and then bail for years from the region
    they plane could last years

4:06 What is crazy is this bit is describing an actual concept. A nuclear powered cruise missile drone called project SLAM or "Supersonic Low Altitude Missile", it was going to use a nuclear ramjet, but basically scientists working on it thought it would be fairly impractical for a bunch of reasons, not the least of which being with only a few modifications to the engine you could turn the entire drone into a terrifying dirty bomb that could fly around for months and essentially spray entire regions with radioactive fission by-products. Also it was meant to fly at Mach 3 100 ft off the ground, the shockwaves alone would do terrible damage to buildings and homes over any territory it overflew. BUT, this is how we got terrain following radar, as it was designed *for* this project initially.

3:55 this is actually a thing. Project pluto with the SLAM missile, tested in 1954. An absolute unit of a missile that uses an UNSHIELDED NUCLEAR REACTOR for thrust, basically using the nuclear energy to heat up the air for propulsion. It would fly 500 feet off the ground at mach 3, instantly killing nearby victims with the shockwave alone.
It would also irradiate anything it flew over and had a range of 113,000 miles (no there isint an extra zero) and fly for months straight.
if that wasn't enough, it could carry 16, 10 megaton nuclear warheads. (The largest nuke America has tested being 15 megatons, and this thing could carry over 10 times the amount of megatons)

The V.L.S Missile Launching System can be stupid deadly, it has less moving parts, fires more than the H.L.S, and can be more efficient, but has a long reloading period

Imagine some Prop Punk recruit joining the Air Force wanting to fly experimental aircraft and then getting assigned to this thing. Blud can barely see the runway, and that thing is a mountain of steel powered by hopes and dreams.

I highly suggest you watch yukikaze it's a anime a very very very good one and it has amazing designs that have influenced Ace combat ! You should also look at sky crawlers it is an animated movie where propeller planes are still prevalent into the Cold war era! I think you should seriously check out these it will give you some design ideas and I think that you will enjoy them!
I also think that you should try playing armored core for answer and armored core 5 it would give you some design cues as very similar large battleship like aircraft /survival aircraft exist in those games!! Very similar to this !

Hah, that's great! I think realistically, the best use for a very large aircraft would be in place of container ships, for the specific purpose of carrying food products that are perishable and are worth the additional cost for time-savings

Adding -missiles- flares everywhere makes this feel like something you'd see in From the Depths.
Now I'm curious as to what it would look like if you built aircraft in different games.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but in the game Armored Core: For Answer, flying cities, somewhat similar to your design, exist for a similar purpose.
In AC:FA (essentially), due to continuous, nuclear mecha based global warfare, earth's surface is uninhabitable, forcing half of humanity underground, and the other half onboard titanic, several kilometre wide flying colonies called "Cradles".
They are more wide than long, are layered in design, operate at 7,000m of altitude, where the pollution can't reach them (*yet*), housing about 4 to 20 million people each, and fly in formations of up to 5 Cradles. And can only stay in the air because of ground installations that transmit power through microwaves up at the Cradles. A process that only generates more pollution on the surface, which climbs higher and higher into the atmosphere. (Though they also have back-up fuel cells for emergency landings.)
They are more of a narrative background tool, but the primary conflict in the game does concern itself with how this status que is unsustainable.
That, or you go along with "Old King" and just kill half of humanity, because it's funny, I guess.
Here's a link to the fandom wiki for some pictures: armoredcore.fandom.com/wiki/Cradles

There was a concept of a supersonic cruise missile that would be powered by a nuclear reactor. It was called a SLAM, but was ultimately deemed unnecessary when ICBM technology improved and MIRVs were invented.

This kind of aircraft would work best as a dedicated seaplane or sea-faring aircraft since crashing it on land would make it near impossible to fully repair and resupply in even the best post-nuclear scenario, and the mass relay would no doubt be nuclear priority #1 for any attacking countries. A direct or nearby strike from a nuclear-tipped cruise missile could also pose a huge threat to the aircraft unless it has sufficient EMP protection systems onboard.

This is amazing but I do have a couple of recommendations. Yes, it is a combat warship, but I would recommend having windows around the ship seeing as it is planned to house people. I would also recommend having a mini-cockpit at the bottom of the front to help with landing and takeoff.

But with Zeppelins such a scale DOES exist for like 2 years, from 1914 to 1916, the German Empire used Zeppelins for recon missions and strategic Bombing Raids, mostly against Britain, until the UK used incendiary rounds, and flying battleships has a real example, that being a Blohm&Voss BV-238, if a large Flying Battleship exists, it needs to have guns, and the S.S.T.L launcher was for the S.S.T.L Space Craft so if you want to land, you might need to have NO landing gear so you could stop quickly

There are two types of Flyout players:
    1. I added weight near the center of the airship to model the added weight required for the radiation shielding for the nuclear reactor.
    2. I added weight to the front of the aircraft to prevent it from flipping over immediately upon takeoff and swooped the wings back because it looks cool.
