    Would be killer to see Broderick do a solo tour with his own composed classical pieces. Passive pickups with a Floyd Rose and a tungsten block lends sustain forever, of course coupled with the right woods, and neck joints. Both great guitarists, but both seem boxed in with their current jobs in their respective bands. Broderick has the skills to take his exposure to a much broader audience if willing to jump out of his current gig for a minute to see what's behind the other paths in guitar playing and composing.

    • @bdubz5150
      @bdubz5150 4 года назад

      @@majav15mg
      Resonance response, snap, harmonics. Wood combinations play a role in tone. A big role, unless your an active pickup player, then wood has less equity in the tone. IE, a guitar made of spanish cedar as opposed to a guitar made of northern ash will sound very different on the spectrum. This is why the "Holy Grail" metal combo is so popular with some. Basswood body, maple top and a quartersawn maple neck lends nice growling tones used in metal chords and offers snappier lead tones. It all depends on the flavor of tone the individual player likes tho, but wood influences tone alot. In big box guitar companies they will usually fill, base coat, and layer coat a guitar body and neck with high build paints which tames the wood influences somewhat, but they do that to get a product that all sound the same. Boutique and custom builders aren't looking for unity so much between their build tones, rather build to bring the wood tones out. So you'll see thinner paints and sometimes just wax and oil. Acoustic and classical instrument builders especially.

    • @majav15mg
      @majav15mg 4 года назад

      @@bdubz5150 well, I don’t think that’s true. On electric guitars, the effect that different species of wood has on tone is likely negligible. Besides, it’s subjective what “good” means anyway. You praise basswood in your reply, yet I’ve seen many people absolutely despise the wood.
      This topic probably isn’t worth discussing and it’s unlikely one of us will change minds.

      Your right probably not worth debating. I am a luthier of 22 years. When my guitars sell for upwards of $15,000, my clients want to know the tonal characteristics. I've done many tests with professional recording studios to find the wood variances, and tonal properties. It's been exhaustively discussed in many luthier articles as well. What I discovered I pass on, as to who wants to absorb that information is up to them. I watched Edward Van Halen pick up a guitar pluck the low E string, and tell me what kind of wood it was constructed with. I didn't praise Basswood, I simple used it as an example some call the holy grail when topped with maple. Anyways. Happy playing buddy!

      +Primo The way things are going now with global deforesting (added to Gibson's unprecedented legal issues over their wood stocks), how the music industry is trying to reinvent itself plus the constant push to try and find less costly, evironment-friendly sollutions; there's a clear market tendency showing up where manufacturers will be ditching higher-end, expensive and rare woods like your birdseye maple, ebony, bubinga, etc for other alternatives like your phenolic fingerboards, ash, regular maple and basswood in the upcoming decade(s). Not sure where mahogany stands in the whole affair but I'd bet there will be less mahogany guitars in the future.

    What is Chris wearing on his picking hand thumb?

      Its a pick clamp, so he doesn't have to hold the pick, & eliminates the possibility of dropping it.

    Gus G is one of the nicest, observant and warm people I've met in the music world. Also a cat person as I am.

    I can remember 15 or so memorable Marty Friedman solos when he was with Megadeth, with Chris...NONE........Awesome guitar player though, not too many people on earth are technically adept in both Classical Nylon and 7 strings

      +Kenny Ken I remember solos from Sudden Death, 44 minutes, How the Story Ends, Bodies, and now his solos in Act of Defiance which are in a totally different league, like Dead Stare and Birth and the Burial's solos.

      i think rhoads, marty,lynch,demartini,edv, alex scolnick. play tastier solos. ive tried to like chris but the solo dont matter, its to fucking much wanking. as far as neo classic my money was on becker in the day.

      @JezBollah 667 untrue story. those demos where recorded in the peace sells sesions and chris poland "while a beast of a player" he didn't demo any of the rust in piece solos for marty to copy or play over.
