I have posted lately two videos about the Yamaha Slg200S Silent Acoustic Guitar. The first one featured unplugged sound samples for those of you who wanted to know how quiet this instrument is. The second video was a comparison of Yamaha Silent Guitar with regular acoustic guitars. In today's video recorded really at the same time as the second one I am showing more sound examples of the Yamaha guitar on it's own.
I hope this will help you to determine whether it's worth getting it or not. As my student put you buy this guitar really for the benefit of other people not yourself. In ideal world it would you wouldn't need a silent guitar but I think sometimes it's a necessity.

I recently purchased one of these. (used) I didn't buy it for the "silent" playing aspect, (I can do that on my unplugged Telecaster) or the travel convenience. I bought it for the SOUND on amplified acoustic gigs. The SRT System Yamaha uses in these is far superior to the Piezo pickups many high-end acoustics use. With the Yamaha, I can use effects pedals, and while I'm not playing loud enough to worry, feedback is non-existent. My Fishman Loudbox amp has Reverb and Chorus, but having control of those on the guitar is convenient. The ability to "blend" between the Piezo and the microphone emulator allows for varied tones. As an electric guitar player for over fifty years, I'm more comfortable with the slim "body" of the Yamaha. I also have an Angel Lopez solid body nylon sting guitar, which is heavy in weight, but my next purchase will be the Yamaha SLG200 N.....which is the nylon string version. Thanks for posting this.

Nothing changed great guitar. I don't own it BTW. It was on loan. If your objective it to practice quietly on sth that feels like an acoustic then this is a great choice. You need a great pair of headphones. If you use a cheap set it's not worth it. I will tell you why I did not buy it. I can play very quietly on my full size acoustic. It's part of my practice routine to be able to play softly. It helps to develop better dynamic range in your playing. Check Clive Carroll who has a very good touch and large dynamic range especially live. The feedback buster makes your guitar significantly quiet so maybe try it first?

I would get a nylon version only because I have too many steel string guitars. It all depends on what you want to play.
Hello, I love your videos and I am very interested to buy a Yamaha SLG200S. Also on your model you with 2 points behind the nut (fixing points?). On most sales announcements we do not find these 2 points. Yet the reference of the guitar model is the same, with or without these 2 points. Can you please tell me what are these 2 points on your guitar? What are they for ? Why on many sales ads these 2 points do not appear on the photos? And so if there are two models of this guitar, which is the most recent? Thank you so much. And congratulations for your videos and your quality of play. John.
Thanks for your kind words John. What you see after the nut is two screws from truss rod plate. Thare are actually three screws there. So this is the most standard version of the guitar. There's no other version of this model. I think this is an awesome silent guitar if this is what you are after. Be prepared that this thing won't resonate like a regular acoustic. Some people find it disappointing. The point of this guitar is not to disturb other people. Hope that helps? Good luck and enjoy your Yamaha.

I bought slg200s and learning to play, but mostly rock music like system of a down. Would you advise me to change the strings or(and) make them lower on the fretboard? if yes, then which strings? :) thanks
Can you tell us what finish that is in? Looks more matte and less red than the Crimson Red Burst, darker than the Natural, and certainly isn't the Tobacco Sunburst or the Black. Thanks.
Do you play through an amp, or that's the clean unprocessed sound from the guitar's aux?
Its direct sound from the guitar. Unprocessed. What you hear will depend on quality of your headphones.
Would it be more sound better if you connect this to an acoustic amp like Boss Acoustic Singer Live? or the BOSS VE-8?
It would sound as good as a normal acoustic guitar with a pickup

Does string gauge matter much in the sound?
Yes. Hevier strings give you more sustain and resonance and volume.
